Devin Townsend Shares New Live Video

Devin Townsend will release "Order Of Magnitude – Empath Live Volume 1" on the 23rd October 2020, a document of his Winter 2019 European tour that saw him taking on possibly his most ambitious live show to date.

Today sees the launch of the second clip from the release, and you can watch Devin and the Empath Volume 1 live band performing the track "War" below.

Devin comments: "Hello folks, here's another song from the Order Of Magnitude Blu Ray. Amidst the chaos of recent times, I look back at this concert as being another world in a lot of ways, and although the DVD has many different feels throughout the concert, this song, ‘War’ is indicative of the beginning vibes of the show. The whole idea with this concert was to experiment with playing songs from my catalog that didn’t rely on backing tracks or clicks, so assembling 10 people onstage to do this was no small feat. I wanted to create an experience for band and audience alike that was creative and without boundaries (to the best of our abilities), and I am very proud of it. The next song we will release will be a different vibe, but for now, please enjoy this take on a song of mine from the Infinity era. It was originally about fighting back against your own self destructive mechanisms and thoughts, so maybe that's appropriate for what has been going on recently. Again; Thank you for the support and I hope you are finding the strength to get through this chaotic year." More...

Insidious Disease Launches New Single

Norwegian death metal collective Insidious Disease, featuring current/former members from Dimmu Borgir, Morgoth, Nile, Susperia and Napalm Death, has revealed a blood curdling anthem today called "Born Into Bondage." The track is found on the group's first album in a decade, "After Death," that's due out on October 30th with Nuclear Blast. You can check it out below.

Commenting on the new single, vocalist Marc Grewe states:

"Recalling the time Silenoz and myself wrote 'Born Into Bondage,' I totally remember it was a foggy and rainy Norwegian day in the fall, just as it is right now, actually...perfect scenery to fall into philosophic talks about lost relationships, lost hopes and so on. We were talking about dependency in any kind of way, may it be religion, ego, drugs or whatever we once were trapped in one way or the other.

"We had this traumatic sounding Intro-Theme..words were flying around and all of a sudden it was assembling together. I just tried out some vocal phrases out of the top of my lungs...and it somehow fitted perfectly. After that it was just like a hot knife cutting the butter.

"I guess Silenoz and I have a common sense about what 'freedom' means, so after these first takes with an SM 57 in Silenoz basement we just recorded those vocals, that you can actually listen to on this recording...it's OLD SCHOOL as it was meant to be! No posh studio shit...recording in the basement...its more about the common sense of how you 'feel' about a song, not so much about technical abilities! That's how it works, and how it was meant to be... right?!" More...

Amaranthe Posts "Fearless" Music Video Online

The day has finally come for Amaranthe to share their declaration to the world: The Swedish metal heroes' most epic album to date, "Manifest", is out today!

Amaranthe commented:
"So, we come to it at last! We are so very proud and happy to finally unveil 'Manifest' to the world, an album written with so much pure joy and enthusiasm, and yet very nearly did not see the light of day. When faced with the decision to record the album despite a world wide pandemic, the answer was the same as when we canceled tours that were supposed to promote the album: we have to release this album in 2020! As our long-time listeners are well aware of, Amaranthe believes in positive, energetic and uplifting music, and we feel that such sentiments are more needed than ever before! Easily our most confident and convincing album to date, this is music born out of pure passion and eagerness to create. This is our manifesto, and all our aesthetic aspirations made apparent - this is 'Manifest.'

"Fear - perhaps the most primal of instincts and most ancient of proclivities, and yet despite all our recent technological marvels our tendency towards fear only grows. Perhaps the great paradox of our time: we have never been materially safer, yet never more exposed to the ills and misfortunes of our truly global civilisation. This very primal urge is pure currency for both political and financial gain, and the more we give in to fear, the more it enslaves us. However, inside each and every one of us there is also courage, conviction and determination. It is in the face of adversity that we grow the strongest - so heed your inner warrior, pay homage to bravery - and transform into the 'Fearless!'" More...

Scottish groove metal quartet From Sorrow To Serenity have streamed their new single "Resurgence (Reimagined)," marking the end of their "Reclaim" album cycle. Watch the video below.

The band comments: "'Resurgence (Reimagined)' was born from our curiosity as musicians, and we're very excited to release something completely different from our normal! This new version of the final track from Reclaim was written and recorded by guitarist/vocalist Steven during lockdown earlier this year, originally with no intention of releasing it. The positive response and excitement about the reimagined track from the band, management, and label, motivated us to release this new version of the song, and mark the end of the 'Reclaim' album cycle." Warrior Soul To Release Covers Album

Warrior Soul is releasing a blast of a covers album called "Cocaine And Other Good Stuff" on Livewire/Cargo Records on November 13th. The album is preceded by the timely release of the single "Elected" on October 9th.

The album is an incendiary compilation of songs that everyone in the band, both current and previous members, had some input choosing, and it shows true honesty in the recordings, making it a fresh take on some very listenable rock jams.

Kory Clarke: "We wanted to make a record that was not about all the crap we are all living in, as it seems like a well worn path for . So, I had to think out of the box."

The album was recorded all over the western world (Edinburgh, Newcastle, Copenhagen, L.A., NYC, Chicago, Detroit, Sheffield, and Torrevieja) in home studios.

The idea for a covers album started when mainman Kory Clarke was contacted by legendary rock photographer, Alex Ruffini's brother, enquiring if Warrior Soul would record a cover of a KISS song, which was Alex Ruffini's favourite band, for a tribute in aid of Cancer Research. Warrior Soul recorded "Cold Gin". Once the band started recording, it sounded really positive and they decided to assemble a complete record of covers ranging from Motörhead to KC And The Sunshine Band. More...

Trident Shares New Single "Summoning"

Today, Swedish blackened death metallers Trident unleash their sophomore studio album, "North," unto the world via Non Serviam Records. In celebration of the release, the band offers fans the visualizer video for the song "Summoning." You can check it out below.

The band states: "We are finally here and this is the creation from years of hardships through existence, experiences formed to art and expressed as music, combined as a therapeutic channel of communication. As entities, we have been put aside to bury the raging feelings from within and never to express them. But the chalice can only hold so much.

"As a dam breaking, flooding with energy, this was created to tell the story of our lives and to express ourselves through art. Upon closing this chapter we feel a sense of relief and nervosity, opening the illusionary walls of strength to step into the unknown of wisdom.

"Listen to the past, learn from the past and shape the future of existence.
Join us as we tell the story about an Internal journey, of ominous visions through dreams, touching the subjects of ancient wisdoms long forgotten, cursed bloodlines.

"Rituals to awaken hidden power, Animism, the souls unguarded altar, surrounding malicious spirits and repeating destructive patterns in the human behaviour.

"Thank you all for making this possible, especially Non Serviam Records for supporting us throughout the process. This is the most creative and crazy album we ever created, it’s a bloody masterpiece." More...

Cruachan Releases "The Hawthorn" Music Video

Irish folk metal pioneers Cruachan has released a new music video for the single, "The Hawthorn." You can check it out below.

A track steeped in Irish folklore, "The Hawthorn" is set in Ireland during the 1700's when the population were heavily under the influence of the Catholic church while still holding onto old Pagan beliefs. It balances the band’s love of Irish traditional folk music with uncompromising metal, a style of music the band helped develop back in the early 1990’s.

Frontman Keith Fay comments, "The Hawthorn tree is a fairy tree, you will see them all over Ireland growing in strange unlikely places where other trees would have been cut down. It is extremely unlucky to cut down a hawthorn tree else you anger the Faerie folk. In the song, the woman is taking her dead baby to bury under the tree, to give her baby to the faeries. We don't know how the baby died or what has led to this decision but she is set in her ways and the baby will not have a Christian burial." More...
