Born Of Osiris Gearing Up For Album Release

Born of Osiris is gearing up to release new album "Soul Sphere" via Sumerian Records on October 23, 2015.

Many religions, cultures, and stories attribute power to the number three. In Egyptian mythology, it symbolizes plurality, and triads of deities comprise a complete system. It’s no surprise that the god Osiris was born to one such triad alongside siblings Horus and Isis. It’s also not a coincidence that Chicago heavy metal quintet Born Of Osiris found a similar significance within that number on new full-length album, "Soul Sphere." In fact, over the course of 12 tracks, the record examines three tiers originally uncovered in a dream that Joe Buras [clean vocals, synthesizers, keyboards] shared.

“The whole story of the record involves three levels,” explains Joe. “The first one is The Binding. You’re hanging, and you’re stagnant. The second is The Fight. You were hanging, but now you’re pulling away from this linchpin, whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual. The final is The Release. You break away and feel free, connected, and loved.”

In order to properly explore the “tiers,” the group — Joe, Ronnie Canizaro [vocals], Cameron Losch [drums], David Da Rocha [bass], and Lee McKinney [guitar] — strengthened their bond exponentially. “Over the years, you get better at creating, writing, and recording in the studio,” says Ronnie. “You improve each time you make an album. Once we had the direction, it started gelling.”

Born Of Osiris preceded the album with the fiery chant of “Throw Me In The Jungle,” showcasing the band's anthemic side. The follow-up “Resilience” evinced another angle. Its gnashing polyrhythmic guitars collide with orchestral electronics and a forceful and fiery refrain, tapping into the band’s hallmarks while fortifying the attack.

“We wanted to use that title for so long,” Joe goes on. “Collectively, we’ve had so much resilience, going through different friendships and changes over the years but still maintaining our connection amongst us.”

Then there’s “Illuminate,” which tempers a wall of distortion with a big chorus. The third single “Goddess of the Dawn” snaps from a thick groove punctuated by pinch harmonics before an entrancing clean hook. More...

Lionheart Announces New Album, Label

California's hardcore heavy hitters from Lionheart are back with their first full-length in over four years. The quintet will release "Love Don't Live Here" on January 22, 2016 via LHHC Records (a label formed by the band members themselves).

The album's title is a nod to a classic R&B/Motown song by the same name and shows the band's unwillingness to conform to the typical "hardcore mold," as well as the bitter and unforgiving lyrical content the band is known for. Lionheart also signed with BDHW Records for the album's release in Europe and Asia.

“This album represents everything we’ve ever wanted to do with our music," says vocalist Rob Watson. "It’s heavy, it’s pissed, it’s original, and it’s honest- something that’s missing in a lot of music nowadays." More...

Denouncement Pyre Announces New Album

Today the Australian black/death cult Denouncement Pyre announces the completion of third album, "Black Sun Unbound."

The album will be released during the first quarter of 2016 by Hells Headbangers - with whom Denouncement Pyre has renewed a record contract, and through whom the band released its prior two albums, 2010's "World Cremation" and 2013's "Almighty Arcanum." New release "Black Sin Unbound" will come ahead of the band's performance at Maryland Deathfest 2016.

Again recorded at I-HQ studio outside of Melbourne, "Black Sun Unbound" will feature 10 tracks of black/death metal on which the band has built its unmistakable foundation. The band comments:

"Black Sun Unbound is the most challenging album we have created so far, and we have certainly ventured further into the inner darkness with the new material, through a long and demanding creative process. The writing and recording of this album involved a lot of experimentation, and we have seen a vast range of ideas included, more so than past releases; it is a different album to the first two. Expect new doors to be unlocked and old gods to be awakened!"

The album's cover, track listing, and an official release date are to be confirmed shortly.

Protest The Hero Launches Subscription Music

In an effort to release new music straight to the fans while still making money, Protest The Hero is launching a new subscription music service through Bandcamp. For $12 a year, you'll get access to one new song a month until the full album's worth of music is completed. The band comments:

"So here she blows! For a long time, we have been dreaming of a new way to bring you our music. We wanted something more direct than a standard album release and record cycle. After months of soul searching and a little bit of elbow grease, we proudly present to you 'Pacific Myth' - our new subscription song and video platform.

"At it's core, this is a 'song a month' platform which launches RIGHT NOW. We will be releasing a new song every month for 6 months, always on the 15th. In our opinion, this is the most direct way we can deliver you new tunes.

"We have chosen to lead things off this month with 'Ragged Tooth,' a cracking little banger of a song which we felt represented where we are headed with all of this. It's important to note that every song release will be accompanied with an instrumental mix of the song as well as hi-res album art, lyrics, and liner notes.

"All of the info for the subscription, the motivation behind building it, and the first song itself can be found here. Please share and spread the word. The success and visibility of 'Pacific Myth' is largely dependent on you!

"We truly appreciate your continued support as we venture down this new path. And don't worry, we aren't done with tradition full length records, we just need a break from em!" More...

BornBroken Posts Federal Election Track

Montreal's death thrashcore rippers from BornBroken have added new vocalist Pepe Poliquin (ex-Endast) to their line up and have just unleashed a new whopper of a tune entitled "A Nation of Ignorance" for metal heads gearing up to vote in Canada's federal election. Guitarist Mike Decker comments:

"Doesn't it seem that there are more lies exposed then truths being revealed and are we are letting it happen right before our eyes? Our latest single talks about a nation of ignorance we elected into power, that conceals everything behind a cloak of secrecy, conspiracy and silence. Well it's time we expose the incompetence, stop the confusion before it all turns into chaos. The best way to protest and raise your voice is by voting. Make yourself heard and not be one of the forgotten.

"We also like to add, we like to welcome into the band Pepe Poliquin (ex-Endast) on vocals. Pepe stepped down from playing guitar (for health reasons) and has given everything he's got to be the voice for BornBroken. We also like to thank everyone who hung out along for the ride since our debut album 'The Healing Powers of Hate.' It's been a long a bumpy road, since our last single 'Watch the World Unwind,' with lots of curves and dead ends, but we always seem to pull through. In the immortal words of Mike Muir (Suicidal Tendencies) 'You Cant Bring Me Down!'

"Its time to hear the cry once more, and feel the rise again! The battle hasn't just begun and it will never be over, unless we raise our voices together as one. Keep in touch and most of all keep it real." More...
