Shane Embury Brings Back Blood From The Soul

Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury, also of Brujeria, Lock Up, Venomous Concept and Absolute Power to name but a few, has confirmed that he has reactivated Blood From The Soul, the industrial hardcore project he formed with Sick Of It All frontman Lou Koller twenty seven years ago. A new album, "DSM-5," is set to be released on November 13th.

Unfortunately, Lou Koller will not be involved this time around, his place being taken by Converge vocalist Jacob Bannon. The project will also feature a full lineup, instead of a drum machine, with Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren (who himself has been as of late with such projects as Brave The Cold, Bent Sea and Scarve) with Nasum bassist Jesper Liveröd completing the ranks.

The band has also released a new song, "Debris Of Dreams," which can be heard below. More...

Ancient Thrones Posts New Song Online

Ancient Thrones have a new single out "Divided/Dissolve," taken off the anguish filled cosmic adventure found in their debut, under this new band name (formerly Abysseral Throne), the album "The Veil," which will be released on November 6th.

"Divided/Dissolve" follows the character of the story into stage four of grief, where he is massively depressed by the revelation feeling the division from his world. From earth crushing riffs and face-melting guitar solos to the overarching theme of grief and devastation that the record encompasses, this single really ramps up the intensity. It stays a fairly constant onslaught of intense guitar riffs while still retaining a melodic edge.

Towards the end, it really shifts gears and slow things way down to some doomy type territory and a very textured fade out outro. The band explains the album in their own words:

"It is the face of endless tragedy through an impressive onslaught of exchanging guitar riffs which show the increased intensity of anguish in the latter half of the album. Pulling you through a hopeless path and digging through the painful burrow of crushing technical sharp death metal until you finally arrive at the earned and complete emotional climax of the record that is the Dissolve. This track takes no prisoners and tolerates no sympathy in its entirety, beckoning you to question your own sorrow and resistance to fulfillment."

The song can be heard below or via its premiere at Brave Words. More...

Ensiferum Bassist Launches New Project ssSHhh

Ensiferum bassist Sami Hinkka has officially unveiled his new solo project, named ssSHhh. The industrial influenced endeavour will see his first EP released at the end of the month. Hinkka himself comments:

"When COVID-19 cancelled touring plans for both of my bands, I decided to use this time to record my first solo release. The idea of an industrial metal project has been in my mind for years. Now, I had the time and the themes for the songs were not hard to find just from reading the news and witnessing the global climate.

"The song 'Weight Of The World' tells about overworked healthcare workers. Whilst not the most traditional topic for a metal song, it’s very important and increasingly relevant in the current world and fit the song very well."

The self-titled ssSHhh EP will be released digitally on all major platforms Friday 30th October.  More...
