Avenged Sevenfold Comments On Drummer Situation

After parting ways with drummer Arin Ilejay, Avenged Sevenfold has now issued the following statement about having recruited a new member who has not yet been formally announced:

"It has been brought to our attention that a lot of videos have been posted online from some pretty amazing drummers who want to try out for Avenged Sevenfold. While we appreciate the overwhelming interest and support we thought it would be the right thing to do to let everyone know that we already have someone.

"In fact, we have been working with this person for over a year now to make sure that it was a correct fit before making any sudden changes. When we have more to share we will be sure to do that. As for Mr. Chris Hawkins, you rule brother. We look forward to hearing about any future musical endeavors you may have. We appreciate the video and your service to our country. Starkill Releases New Music Video

Chicago melodic death metal troupe Starkill has unleashed a brand new music video for the single "Breaking The Madness" taken from latest album, "Virus Of The Mind."

In addition to the new video and in continued pursuit of metal world domination, Starkill has also announced a headlining tour in China taking off November 1, 2015 in Shenyang. Vocalist / guitarist Parker Jameson had the following to say on the new video and recent tour announcement:

"Breaking the Madness is a video we entirely put together ourselves, doing a self-shot performance video filled with various shots of fan footage and lots of behind the scenes and backstage footage of us living our pre-show or homeless-Walmart-parking-lot-post-show lives. I kept the lyrics a little bit open-ended for individual interpretation, but the inspiration for me was about the not-so-glorious life of being a touring musician. It's hectic and unstable for sure, but as you can see in the video, Starkill is a family, and despite the unpredictability of the modern music world, we do enjoy every minute of it.

"We're also extremely excited to announce that this November, we will be embarking on our first tour of China, which is coincidentally also our first headlining tour. This was an opportunity we couldn't miss, and we are glad to be able to play for many new faces, as well as fans who probably thought it'd be much longer before they'd get to see us live.

"Unfortunately, due to previously locked in work commitments, Shaun won't be making the run, but will be resuming duties on bass with us after November. To fill his spot for the tour, we're glad to welcome our friend and longtime dedicated supporter of the Chicago and Illinois metal scene, Lisa Jablonski. We'll be bringing a really powerful set and are looking forward to shredding China apart." More...

This Gift Is A Curse Streams "Hanging Feet"

Following a previous stream of the "Swinelord" track (still available here), This Gift Is A Curse today posts another track titled "Hanging Feet" - listen in below, courtesy of MetalSucks.

"Hanging Feet" is taken from forthcoming album, "All Hail the Swinelord," due out on October 16, 2015. Regarding the track, the band comments:

"We wrote 'Hanging Feet' quite early during the songwriting process and really enjoy performing it live. In the beginning it consisted of a fast and a slow part, but we decided to drop the first and focus on the latter. This turned the track into a sludge anthem. Reducing the speed also suited the lyrics better, which deal with us wanting the world – as we have come to understand it – to end. Their author, J. A. Holmberg used esoteric symbolism to describe the process of seeing through the veil of reality as well as phasing out from it: 'I was never here at all / Dark father/ Take us home'." More...

Stabbingback Posts Dimebag Tribute Song

Stabbingback just released a track online titled "Requiem For A Dime," which can be heard below, and the band also comments:

"Originally, the song 'Requiem' was released as part of the original album 'Redeemer' in 2008. This is the re-release of that song but with better production. It's being released as a single rather than being a part of 'Project Redeemer' because the project is looking to tell a story. The song 'Requiem for a Dime' is one of 2 songs from the original album 'Redeemer' that was meant for live performances sake.

"This song was written as a tribute to 'Dimebag' Darrell, the guitarist for Pantera. The guitar tone in this song alone was altered to be a bit closer to their tone as an homage. Although he was murdered on December 8, 2004, his signature style of guitar playing is something I still reference in my own writing to this day." More...

Arkentype Releases "Disoriented" Album Preview

Norwegian progressive metal act Arkentype released a preview clip for the upcoming new release "Disoriented" along with a music video for the new track "Time Collapse." The album is set for release on November 13th via Crime Records. Check them out in the player below.

With a raw, true and honest sound, Arkentype is a breath of fresh air in a rather stagnant scene of modernized metal. With great passion expressed through heavy and technical rhythmic patterns, blended with beautiful melodic and symphonic passages, Arkentype will leave you battered on the floor wondering what knocked your teeth out.

Genre wise their music is best described as Progressive Metal, but the band themselves do not see this as a limit, and goes way outside the genre. Mixing the “new” progressive metal sound with their personal influences and experiences is what makes Arkentype a truly unique band. Based at the music conservatory by the University in Agder, Arkentype produced, recorded and made the album "Disorientated." Mixing and mastering was handled by Daniel Bergstrand and George Nerantzis (Meshuggah, In Flames) at Dug Out Productions in Sweden. More...
