Ungraven To Release Split EP With Slomatics

Since forming in 2013 UK label Blackbow Records has continued to release music created and appreciated by those who worship tone and riffs. Now in 2021 they are set to continue this trend with a new split LP of pure heaviness from Belfast based, sludge-juggernauts Slomatics alongside the blistering and crushing sounds of Ungraven. With 3 new tracks from each band the split is set for release on 5th March.

Formed in 2019 by Conan frontman Jon Davis and featuring Fudge Tunnel bassist David Ryley and drummer Tyler Hodges (Tuskar), Ungraven pay homage to the 90s heavy and industrial sounds of the likes of Ministry, Godflesh, Sepultura and Nailbomb. On the split with Slomatics Jon states;

"As the world groans and creaks and crawls forward in slow motion we chose to release three tracks with our brothers in Slomatics, our first on vinyl. Ungraven was an idea that started in my head as I drove into Richmond Virginia in 2017, on tour with Conan. It was originally intended as a solo act. Blackened Gates and Onwards She Rides were initially written to be performed with a drum machine, while Defeat The Object came along during rehearsal with Tyler before we toured early March 2020, before the earth stood still. Enjoy."

Frozen Crown Splits With Three Members

Italian metallers Frozen Crown have checked in with the following update:

"Dear friends, as you already know 2020 has been a hard year for musicians and each of us had to take some time to sit down, deal with reality and review his / her own priorities in life. It’s not easy to be part of a band, let alone doing it during a period that doesn’t allow you to live that experience to the fullest and to travel the world playing around, or even to share some time with your bandmates to start with. This is why, in different times during last year, Alberto, Thalía and Filippo decided to leave the band to focus on their personal projects: we wish them all the best for their new ventures and for their lives. We would also like to thank them for the awesome moments spent touring around, and to celebrate our three years together with this last video from 'Crowned In Frost,' portraying the 'classic' Frozen Crown line-up.

As you already know, our third album has just been completed (as the songwriting line-up remains unchanged anyway) and will be announced in the next days, as well as the new members of the band. Be sure to check this page for many updates to come!" More...

Heriot Shares New Music Video

New UK metal group Heriot continue their rise with brilliant and brutal new single "Recreant."

Premiering on Knotfest, who called the band "relevant, contemporary, and rooted in reality", you can watch the video for "Recreant" below.

The new single showcases a triumphant young band, fully focused and with a razor-sharp edge. Now a fourpiece with the addition of guitarist/vocalist Debbie Gough, Heriot have already started to turn heads in the UK metal scene and beyond. Weaponising metallic sludge and hardcore, Heriot had already made a statement of intent with November 2020's 'Cleansed Existence' single and will only turn it up from here.

In the words of Heriot: "'Recreant’ reflects on the ever-growing abuse of power in today’s world. With governments, politicians and influencers wrongfully using religion, nationalism and wealth to divide communities, class and race.

"In this release we’ve tried to hone in on some of our darker influences to best suit the lyrical content in this song. As a band we’ve delved deeper into our doom and sludge roots. This track allowed for a lot more experimentation into the use of textures and industrial elements to embellish the intensity of our sound.

"This track touches on the contrast between the privileged and deprived and how the system is carefully manipulated to cater for the wealthy, even showing encouragement for minority groups of people to subconsciously vilify themselves." More...

Vexed Signs With Napalm Records

One of the UK’s most exciting rising alt-metal talents Vexed have just signed an official worldwide record deal with premium Austrian rock and metal label Napalm Records.

The crushing Hertfordshire foursome was born in March 2019, and since then the band has been pursuing its desire for heavy groove, unfiltered lyricism and technical proficiency. While other bands dwell on flattery, Vexed bundle a mixture of honest hatred and apt social criticism in their lyrics, and don't mince words for a moment.

Vexed have already dropped two one-off singles independently, including "Elite" featuring Thy Art is Murder vocalist CJ McMahon, which has garnered over 500k cross-platform streams as of now. Both tracks highlight Vexed’s potent combination of aggressive groove mixed with ominous threads of progressive atmosphere, like none of their kind. Due to the worldwide pandemic, the band had to cancel their planned tour with Whitechapel and a scheduled appearance at Bloodstock Festival, but this did not stop them from continuing to push their sonic strength. Be prepared, more exciting news is coming soon!

Vexed on the signing:
"It is with great pride that we can finally announce our signing to Napalm Records. We are truly humbled by the label’s belief in Vexed and their ability to support our creative vision. Napalm is a label with a rich history and a strong presence throughout the world and we can’t wait to share what we have in store for you."

Tone MGMT on the signing:
"Vexed have proven time and time again that they are one of the most hard working and exciting new bands the UK has to offer. Their signing to Napalm Records only solidifies this. Vexed really are ones to watch."

Souls Of Diotima Releases New Music Video

Today sees the release of Souls Of Diotima's 4th studio album "Janas!" The Italian female fronted metal band is proud to celebrate its release day with a magnificent music video for the song "The Dark Lady."

Watch the video for "The Dark Lady" below.

Commenting on the new single the founder member, lyricist and drummer Giorgio Pinna says: "Perhaps this is the most catchy and ‘commercial’ track on the album. It’s a very simple and catchy song, and we think it’s excellent. It’s powerful and you will easily fix the lyrics in your mind. The story is about a very controversial character from our land, who actually existed around 50 years ago. Her name is ‘Accabadora’. She was a fairly old woman, dressed entirely in black with her face almost completely covered, so often only her eyes could be seen. Her mission was to alleviate the suffering of those on the verge of death, putting an end to their life using a wooden stick which she was always taking with her. This woman was called by the family of the sick person to put an end to their suffering." More...

Keyboard player Santeri Kallio comments: "Two great songs from the "Queen of Time" sessions on vinyl which is great. With this release it is great to see these songs get the attention they deserve." More...

Max Cavalera Launches New Band Go Ahead And Die

Nuclear Blast are proud to announce the signing of Arizona's Go Ahead And Die. The band features vocalist and guitarist Max Cavalera joining forces with his son, singer, guitar and bass player Igor Amadeus Cavalera as well as Zach Coleman on drums to produce a sound that mixes elements of death and thrash metal, with early Celtic Frost influences and a punk attitude.

Max Cavalera comments, "One of a kind father/son collaboration bringing the old school with a new attitude! Sick riffs and abrasive lyrics from Igor and brutal drumming from Zach Coleman (Black Curse, Khemmis) inspired me! Extreme times call for extreme music!"

Igor Amadeus Cavalera states, "We are beyond excited to sign with Nuclear Blast. They are definitely the right choice for this colossally heavy record. G.A.A.D. will deliver fast-paced, hate-fueled energy that hasn’t been heard in years.”

Zach Coleman adds, "I could not be more excited to be a part of G.A.A.D. and to have the album come out on Nuclear Blast! I feel like we were able to capture (extreme) aggression with the record. It’s a mix of old school (think ’89 era metal/punk) style and newer sounds that reflect what’s going on around us. Protest and Survive!"

Nuclear Blast comments. “For such a heavy, brutal, and pissed-off record; Go Ahead And Die will leave any metal fan with a smile on their face. With riffs the size of boulders and a genuine fuck off attitude that speaks about today’s horrors, this album will without a doubt leave a mark in metal and we are happy to be part of the journey.”

Stay tuned for more information on their upcoming debut album.

Everdawn Posts New Lyric Video Online

Next week, Sensory Records will unveil Cleopatra, the epic Dan Swanö-mastered second album from New Jersey-based symphonic metal quintet, Everdawn. With the record nearing release, a new lyric video for the song "Your Majesty Sadness," which features guest contributions from Therion/Candlemass vocalist Thomas Vikström, can be seen below.

Formerly known as Midnight Eternal, Everdawn is embodied by lead vocalist Alina Gavrilenko, guitarist/vocalist Richard Fischer, bassist Mike LePond (Symphony X), drummer Dan Prestup, and keyboardist Boris Zaks. Through the course of eleven epic new songs, the band delivers forty-eight minutes of epic, progressive, symphonic metal on "Cleopatra."

Everdawn keyboardist Boris Zaks delves into the "Your Majesty Sadness" single, "Oftentimes, we find ourselves walking an eternal path between sheer joy and deep sadness, utter acceptance and cold seclusion, affectionate love and brutal loneliness. It’s not always up to us whether we shift towards helpless self-destruction or find ways to embrace who we are and turn our weaknesses into strengths. ‘Your Majesty Sadness’ reflects on the inner strength of a soul searching for answers, losing motivation and finding strength to carry on despite the emotional setbacks. In addition to the phenomenal vocals of Thomas Vikstrom, the song tells the story of fading love, intimacy and attachment looking forward to times when romance and chivalry rule the world again."
