Doctor Livingstone Reveals New Album

Recorded during the winter of 2016, Doctor Livingstone's new album, "Triumphus Haeretici," is the next step beneath the road paved by previous 2014 release "Contemptus Saeculi." Osmose Productions will drop this behemoth on February 26th, and the label comments:

"Black metal, death metal, and hardcore, as you wish and no not at all, this album is a gargantuan, twisted and hideous brothel that deserves a certain time of acclimation to understand where this is all going. Tragic, chaotic, insatiable and definitely esoteric, 'Triumphus Haeretici' is a performance intended to be taken as a whole." More...

Mountain God Signs Record Deal

Artificial Head Records is thrilled to announce the signing of Brooklyn-based trio Mountain God and the release of debut album "Bread Solstice."

Experimenting with raw concoctions of doom and '70s psychedelic influences, Mountain God's commitment to channeling ill feeling, heavy rock, deep meaning, and dark subject matter is unwavering.

Following the departure drummer Ian Murray and former Alkahest member Jon Powell, Thera Roya drummer Ryan Smith was drafted in as the trio set to work recordings that would form the basis of "Bread Solstice."

“While some of the songs date all the way back to 2013, we didn’t begin rehearsing them regularly until Summer 2015,” explains guitarist Ben Ianuzzi. “We started out demoing, writing, and tearing apart the ideas until we had things we liked. We definitely wanted to push the envelope with more nuanced effects and fewer 4/4 time signatures.” More...

Art Of Anarchy Releasing "The Madness"

Art Of Anarchy is gearing up to release a new effort debuting iconic vocalist Scott Stapp (Creed). This new hard-rock offering, "The Madness," is now officially set for a March 24th release - check out cover artwork and track listing below. The following press release was also issued about the album:

"Art Of Anarchy is one of the rare rock bands where each member has a strong identity, and together creates something special. No filler, just raw talent, and dedication to the music and being true to who they are. The members have collectively sold tens of millions of albums worldwide and have a rock pedigree that most artists would be content to rest their laurels on. But while AOA possesses the star power of a rock 'super group' in spades, the band’s focus is squarely on songwriting and musical craft.

"Lead guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal hails formerly from Guns N’ Roses, while bassist John Moyer first rose to fame as a member of Disturbed. Twin brothers Jon Votta (guitar) and Vince Votta (drums), meanwhile, first gained renown as fixtures on the New York music scene. The most recent addition to the group is Grammy Award winner Scott Stapp, the founder and lead singer of Creed. Stapp replaced the late Scott Weiland (of Stone Temple Pilots) as AOA’s lead singer." Anthrax Releasing "Wardance" Pale Ale

It's funny how an offhanded comment can make a dream come true, but that's exactly what happened with thrash icons Anthrax.

Last year, the members of the band were hanging out at New York's West Village bar Daddy-O and mentioned to owner Phil Casacelli how they'd love to have their own brand of beer. Casacelli, a long-time fan of upstate New York's Butternuts Beer & Ale Brewery, made a call to Chuck Williamson, owner of Butternuts, a metalhead and a long-time Anthrax fan, and everything started to fall into place for what would become Anthrax's own craft beer, Wardance.

Wardance will be available in stores, bars, and restaurants where craft beer is sold in New York State beginning March 27th. Plans are in the works to expand the distribution to other states around the country.

Said Anthrax's Scott Ian, "I've wanted to do our own beer for a long time, it was just finding the right guy to make that a reality. I am a fan of Butternuts, especially their Porkslap Pale Ale, and when I found out that Chuck was interested in doing a beer with us I immediately said yes." More...

Wintersun Announces Studio Crowd Funding Campaign

Last week Finnish group Wintersun unveiled the track list for third studio album "The Forest Seasons" that will see the light of day in 2017. This new full-length album of 53 minutes follows the concept of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons," but will feature epic death metal on four massive tracks.

Although the album is already finished, front man and mastermind Jari Mäenpää now needs the support of his loyal fans in a way he stated a few years back would be simply impossible: there will be a Wintersun studio crowd funding campaign starting March 1st. Jari, Jukka, Kai, and Teemu issued this statement:

"During last autumn, we had long and productive negotiations with our record label Nuclear Blast and we finalized it in November 2016. We came to a good solution, a win-win deal that will benefit everyone - Wintersun, Nuclear Blast, and especially the fans! This means that we will do the crowdfunding and it will include our NEW album 'The Forest Seasons!'

"The purpose of this crowdfunding is to build the Wintersun Headquarters studio. As some of you may know this has been in the plans for a long time. It is our long time goal and dream. Building the studio is absolutely essential in order to finish 'Time II' and produce our future albums as fast as possible and with the best production. All the money we raise will go directly to Wintersun, 100%, which we will use for building the Wintersun Headquarters. More...

Code Streaming New EP

The progressive black metal/rock shapeshifters from Code are streaming their brand new EP "Lost Signal" in full today. The EP is set to be released on January 27th (digital format) and February 22nd (physical format) via Agonia Records.

This new release consists of six previous tracks seen through new eyes acting as a meeting of ages and a blurring of lines. In the summer of 2015, Code spent some time in a studio in England to experiment with tracks from the back catalogue of four albums. The idea was to re-visit past works from a different angle and "Lost Signal" is the result.

Six Feet Under Posts Guitar/Bass Playthrough

On February 24th, Six Feet Under returns with 12th studio album, "Torment," and a new leap in intensity. There's plenty of classic Six Feet Under groove to be had on "Torment," but fans will note a much more aggressive approach, and even more blast beats throughout.

To hear the new album track, "Exploratory Homicide," a guitar and bass playthrough video for the song (by the band's own Jeff Hughell) can be viewed below. If you missed it, previous single "Sacrificial Kill" is also online over here.

"Torment" was brought to life by Chris Barnes with bassist/guitarist Jeff Hughell (Brain Drill) shouldering the load of writing the music, along with heralded drummer Marco Pitruzzella (Brain Drill, Anomalous, Sleep Terror).

Chris Barnes elaborates: "I've been lucky to have a lot of standout albums in my career. That's only because I've had a great many talented writing partners and musicians to collaborate with. Our new album, 'Torment', to me, is one of those albums. Jeff Hughell has provided the flammable material for me to write some explosive lyrics and vocal parts to. I know people always say, 'this is my best album ever', and I won't say that, because everyone has their own favorites, but I do enjoy creating new music, and I feel as though with this one we expressed concisely and to the fullest the duality of our music." Death Metal Bird Song Releases "Capella Gold"

Are you ready for this one? Appalachian folk karoake bird-obsessed a capella metal has arrived. Buckle up folks.

After 25 years of being in and out of the chicken coop, Bill "Cuckoo Braaaaaaaaaaaaains" Barnes has finally released an album, "Capella Gold." The Cuckoo bird is a solitary bird and it doesn't get along with other birds, so Bill created this album all by himself. There are no instruments. There is only Bill's voice, and of course...bird calls. A couple of the songs are a preview of Bill's upcoming cannibalistic country project, Bill Barnes and the Geiners + A Beaner.

All songs were recorded in Bill's swallow cave or live at the Common Interest in Austin, Texas, where Bill and flock members, Chris "Stoned Raven" and internet/Austin 6th Street legend, G.O.A.T. corn holed Austin karaoke. Bill is negotiating with G.O.A.T. about releasing those songs on a DVD and live album.

The eight tracks that comprise the album pick at some meaty topics like cannibalism, Ed Gein, tits (avian and human), menstrual-drinking vampires, barracudas, trolling and...of course, bird songs! More...

King Woman Issues "Deny" Music Video

As they prepare for the release of the debut full-length album "Created in the Image of Suffering" on February 24th via Relapse Records, Bay Area CA’s King Woman has unveiled an extremely emotional and powerful music video for “Deny” today via Consequence of Sound at this location (or viewable in the player below).

Vocalist and lyricist Kristina Esfandiari commented: "The video for ‘Deny' is a depiction of the shadow aspect in Jungian psychology. It's about the inner darkness buried deep within the subconscious. In the video you see this portion of the mind surfacing and coaxing the preacher into his truest form; drawing out the aspects of himself which he loathes because it doesn't fit in with his beliefs.

"In church, I saw others being raised with a rod in their backs, trying to fight their own carnality - buried in shame and guilt. The belief was to deny anything inside of themselves that was considered ugly or wrong, and instead attain a pristine image. With this video we aimed to paint a picture of how tormenting and exhausting it is to wrestle with your true self.”

"Deny" was directed by Kevin Haus who commented, "I wanted the video to be extreme in all emotional directions, and I think we accomplished that." More...
