Gideon Shares Title Track From New Album
Alabama hardcore warriors Gideon have released a video for their new single "More Power. More Pain," a crunchy, epic anthem built around a plate-shifting breakdown. The single is the title track of their upcoming album, due for release on 17th March 2023 via Rude Records (UK/EU) / Equal Vision Records (ROW). You can check out the video below.
The band comment on the new single:
"Becoming accustomed to pain will leave you asking for more, once you see the growth it can bring. If you can't turn your pain into power, then you will live your life at the bottom, dwelling in self-pity, depression and continuing to revisit old versions of yourself. Being self-aware of your pain is a big first step to growing from the past and unlocking your true potential. Pain will always be a part of life. Embrace it, see it for what it truly is, and use it as fuel to build your strength and create the life you were meant to live: Give me more power." More...

Godflesh Digs Deep For London Show
Godflesh has always been a law unto themselves. For as much as they are pigeonholed in the industrial metal category, which is definitely a tag they helped create, they've never been afraid to take risks, veer into new territory and challenge any preconceived notions as to what Godflesh is. While not always in full metal mode, as evidenced by their latest album, 2017's excellent, "Post Self," they will always attract headbangers thanks to their connection to Napalm Death, though they certainly don't cater to this crowd specifically.
The Birmingham duo recently completed a two night residency at the 229 club in London, a venue located immediately to the left of Great Portland Road tube station, which is a fascinating place in and of itself. The 229 is a club which not only hosts a variety of performances, but all profits go to benefit university students and inside it's something of a mix of different typical settings. The main hall itself is quite big, with a raised stage and, at least on this occasion, folding chairs located either side, almost like an assembly hall or community centre, while towards the back is a bar not unlike one would find in the more corporate place like an 02 Academy. The staff were also excellent for the most part, being very friendly and welcoming, though this was also the first time I've ever seen security stand amidst the crowd, for what reason, I haven't worked out. Odinfist Releases "Metalmancer" Single
Hailing from British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley in Canada, Odinfist is a high-flying, guitar-playing, crowd-chanting traditional heavy metal band that’s been around for 16 years, bringing elements of power metal, thrash metal, and the new wave of British heavy metal together. They’ve already amassed seven albums and now they are adding “Remade In Steel” to their impressive discography. The second single they have coming at ya in advance of the album is "Metalmancer." Drenched in classic 80s metal riffs with some hair metal influences in the verses, the lyrics describe a protagonist as they’re being exposed to new ideas and how they can forge a new path in life. The guitar solos are fucking sick, boys, Odinfist explains, they continue:
"This one is unique because it has completely different riffs for the first verse and second verse, and both riffs make a reappearance at the end of the song. The chorus is a pretty simple, but driving riff, with one of Justin’s patented melodies over top. There’s a big, stompy, half-time feel breakdown in the middle that leads into a gnarly solo section. While the song structure isn’t totally conventional, it’s still a catchy, rockin’ tune with a melodic, shout-along chorus."
The band continues to share that over the course of their musical careers, they’ve always prioritized making music that they enjoy and want to listen to first. Each album is a snapshot of where they were mentally, creatively, and socially– but they’ve always wanted to explore new spaces within the genre and try to push into places they hadn’t been before. “Remade in Steel” is true to Odinfist’s roots in traditional heavy metal, offering its listeners the same energy and sound that they’ve come to expect from the band, but still shows off the band’s love for discovery.
A smorgasbord of different metal genres across six heavy metal tracks, “Remade In Steel” is recommended for fans of Riot City, Eternal Champion, and Cauldron. the album is due out on March 10, 2023, and is available for pre-order here. You can check out "Metalmancer," which originally premiered at Metal Rules below. More...
Tygers Of Pan Tang Debuts New Single
Fresh from their return to the road after the Covid-19 lockdown, NWOBHM Illuminati Tygers Of Pan Tang are ready to release the latest album of a career that started back in 1978. But, despite their veteran status, they show no signs of stagnation or tiredness. In fact, powered by what is probably their tightest and better lineup to this date, they unleash a digital single full of energy and power: "Edge Of The World."
"Based on Robb's riff, the new song shows the great songwriting talent of Francesco who came up with the Spanish-flavoured section and the melodic chorus", vocalist Jack Meille offers, about the track. "This song sums up the ultimate Tygers sound: heavy and yet melodic!"
Drummer Craig Ellis adds: "The lyrics were inspired by the unprecedented, strange and worrying pandemic circumstances that each and every one of us suddenly found ourselves in, literally, one more step and we'd be forever falling."
A new Tygers Of Pan Tang album is expected to be released this Spring. More...

Fear Factory Re-Signs With Nuclear Blast
Nuclear Blast Records are proud to announce that extreme industrial metal pioneers Fear Factory have re-signed their contract and are ushering in a new era. Initially signed to the label in 2013, the band have since released the albums "Genexus," "Aggression Continuum," and "Recoded."
Fear Factory's Dino Cazares comments:
"This is a new year and a new chapter for Fear Factory. We are off to a great start because we have re-signed with Nuclear Blast Records and our A&R legend Monte Conner, who originally signed the band in 1992. It is a great feeling to be with a label that gets us and who has always had our backs, especially when we needed them the most. Prepare for the future of Fear Factory."
Nuclear Blast A&R Monte Conner states:
"Working with Fear Factory right from the start of their amazing career has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my own career. I was thrilled to be reunited with them when I signed Fear Factory to Nuclear Blast in 2013, and to be able to continue that journey once again for round #3 feels incredibly satisfying. I have believed in Dino Cazares from day one, and I know he is going to deliver a killer new album with all the trademarks that have made and still make Fear Factory one of the most pioneering and unique sounding metal bands of all time."
Horizon Ignited Unveils New Single
Finnish newcomers Horizon Ignited wrapped up an incredible 6-week European tour last autumn, where they supported Hypocrisy alongside Septicflesh and The Agonist, picking up new fans in droves along the way.
Today, the band are pleased to release a new single, "Carry Me," which has only previously been included on the vinyl version of their latest album "Towards The Dying Lands," released in July 2022. You can listen to the song here.
The band commented on the song,
"When we released our second album Towards The Dying Lands, there was one song that was included only as a vinyl exclusive. It's a brilliant track with a huge bridge and we decided to play it live during our first ever European tour with Hypocrisy. We quickly noticed that it works in a live setting as well and since then we have all fallen deeply in love with the track, so it brings me much joy to announce the digital release of 'Carry Me!' We hope that this track pleases our fans as much as it pleases us and we can't wait to play it live again."
