My Dying Bride Posts Behind The Scenes Video

British doom legends My Dying Bride recently released the official video for "Your Broken Shore," the first single from their upcoming 13th studio album, "The Ghost Of Orion." Directed by James Sharrock (Slipknot, Behemoth, Soundwave Festival) and with influences including the British psychological horror movie Kill List, the themes are dark and the imagery perfectly aligned with the crushingly desolate mood of the track. Partly filmed in a valley in the depths of Yorkshire during a cold November evening, the video saw frontman Aaron plunging himself into ice cold waters for the sake of his art. Find out more about the making of the video and how it all came together below.

"Your Broken Shore" is taken from the upcoming album "The Ghost Of Orion," which will be out on 6th March on CD, black 2LP Gatefold, white 2LP Gatefold, red 2LP Gatefold and picture disc 2LP. More...

Sodom Recruits New Drummer

German thrash metal legends Sodom has announced that they have recruited Toni Merkel as the band's new drummer, following the departure of Stefan "Husky" Hüskens. Speaking about his decision to leave Hüskens said:

"Unfortunately I have to tell you that I have to leave Sodom. Due to some changes at my full-time job, as well as a few other matters, I do not see any chance of continuing to crush the skins for Sodom in the future. I had a great time, I am proud of what we have achieved and I thank Onkel Tom Angelripper, Yorck Segatz and Frank Blackfire, and the entire crew for many extremely awesome moments. It was an honour to be part of one of my two all-time fave bands during the last two years. There are always important decisions in life and this is one of them! Thanks for everything!"

A statement from Sodom adds:

"Hail Sodomaniacs! Get ready for our new recruit: Toni! Flying under the radar for a long time, it’s a dream coming true for him. Brace yourself to get your face smashed by his awesome drumming! More information coming soon!"

Merkel comments:

"I am very proud to anounce that I am the new Sodom drummer and really looking forward to work and rehearse with these awesome guys for the next album and live shows. See you soon!!!"

Kings Never Die Premiere Exclusive Track

Metalunderground.com are honored to stream "Raise A Glass" from hardcore upstarts, Kings Never Die. The album will be released digitally on all platforms tomorrow and on vinyl on February 7th.

Guitarist Dan Nastasi commented “When you spend 35 years of your life loving & listening to Agnostic Front, a band who has stood the test of time, loves each other and their friends and fans....and that we(KND) actually had the honor to finish and create something together with them is incredible. The second I put together the original idea & chorus, I heard Stigma’s Voice singing it. Just the fact that Gallo & Vinnie took the time and wanted to do it was something we will be forever grateful for. Vocally, Mike immediately started changing lyrics around, writing new lines etc. and both Mike and Vinnie made the song their own, which is what it’s all about. We love what we created. That other people now get to hear it is just a bonus. I hope people dig it as much as we enjoyed making it.” More...

Wednesday 13 Posts New Lyric Video Online

Just days away from kicking off their North American tour, Wednesday 13 and his boo crew have debuted a new lyric video for the latest single, "Monster" (Feat. Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil) from their recently released album, "Necrophaze," that is available now from Nuclear Blast Records. You can check it out below.

"'Monster' is the 1st Wednesday 13 song recorded to feature guest vocals. I wanted something different than I had ever tried before and I wanted a female vocalist. Cristina was the perfect choice for this song. I gave her the lyrics and some minor details, and she came back with what you hear. She totally floored us with her amazing vocal range and adding a new element never heard on one of our songs before." – Wednesday 13

"This collaboration was born from blackness. Wednesday and I are both fans of the darkest vision of art and music, and when I was asked to sing with him for the song 'Monster', I immediately visualized his concept and shared it with pleasure. What I love about this song is that some people in life are taking the worst out of us... but demonizing it all and pushing away the tension through notes is the best thing to do." – Cristina Scabbia More...

Ross The Boss Reveals New Album Details

Ross “The Boss” Friedman and his band, Ross The Boss, will release their new album, "Born Of Fire," on March 6 via AFM Records.

One can’t talk about genre defining acts in the metal scene without mentioning one man: Ross “The Boss” Friedman has written music history as a founding member of Manowar and The Dictators. His influence in heavy metal and also punk is noticeable to this day.

Manowar’s first six masterpieces which saw him significantly involved in between 1982 and 1988 are immortal classics today, and that the band wasn’t able to deliver the same quality again after his departure speaks for the New York based guitarist and songwriter. Since 2006 Ross again is releasing traditional and raw epic metal which calls up memories of the Manowar masterpieces from the 80’s with its very own style.

The brand new album, "Born Of Fire," is the fourth album from Friedman and his band, which arrives not even two years after their chart breaking 2018 effort, "By Blood Sworn." While Ross The Boss used this time for extensive touring they built their latest epos which will excite fans worldwide seemingly effortless out of nothing.

"Born Of Fire" is pounding yet fresher and heavier out of the speakers than before, but isn’t lacking any of the typical Ross The Boss trademarks. More...

Konvent Posts Unboxing Video Online

Danish death/doom quartet Konvent has posted a new video online, unboxing their debut album, "Puritan Masochism." You can check it out below. The album is scheduled to be released on January 24th through Napalm Records and will be available in LP, CD and digital formats.

The Danish collective, founded in 2015, stoically trudges through the blackest mires - following in the footsteps of Mythic, Paradise Lost, Skepticism and Winter, who all unleashed the bleakest horror on mankind in the early 90s. Rikke Emilie List's guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make the debut by these four Danish women a massive, extreme metal highlight of early 2020 - and it wouldn't come as a surprise if their upcoming album, "Puritan Masochism," conjures up a deserved revival for the whole death doom genre. Fallujah On Shining The "Undying Light"

In the modern era, we can't help but fix labels to bands. Even if it defies characterisation, people will make up a tag for a band's sound. Since 2007, California's, Fallujah have been one such band that frustrates the label makers, with elements of prog, tech death, deathcore and more, they're not a band who can be pinned down in any way.

Last year, the band released their fourth album, "Undying Light" and now, they're kicking off the new decade by touring Europe with Darkest Hour, as part of a huge bill which also features Bloodlet, Une Misere and Lowest Creature. At their recent show in London, I caught up with the band's guitarist and chief songwritier, Scott Carstairs to discuss the record, as well as the introduction of new vocalist Antonio Palermo, artwork and more. You can watch the interview in full below.

Diamond Oz: Now that the dust has settled, how do you see "Undying Light" in the catalogue of Fallujah?

Scott Carstairs: Well it's definitely a lot different from the last album. We have a different lineup, we have a different vocalist. I've always been the one that does most of the writing and I wanted to try something new with this record, I wanted to try different textures and atmospheres, kind of inject a lot more air. Instead of having everything so tight and riffy, I wanted it to be more soundscapey. Then with Anthony, our new vocalist, I feel the way he does his vocals are a lot more kind of black metal, a lot more emotional, not as much of the death growl and brutal kind of stuff. That's cool but I feel like his vocals match the music more. I feel that compared to the other records, it kind of has this raw emotion to it that the others haven't had but it's still got some crazy leads and guitar parts.
