Russian symphonic metal band Imperial Age has posted a video online in which vocalists/keyboardists AOR and Jane Odintsova discuss the ideas and themes behind their new album, "The Legacy Of Atlantis." You can check it out below. The album is set to be released later this year via Adulruna Records and the band will be promoting the record by joining Therion on a European tour. More...
Having visited the Garaje Beat Club twice before to see Napalm Death and Ratos de Porao, it's safe to assume that this is one of the best small venues in the South East of Spain, if not Spain itself. It's compact but with room to move, the staff are friendly (even the bouncers!) and there's a great rock and roll vibe about the club. Perfect setting then, to host one of the most exciting tours of early 2018, as Rage and Firewind rolled into town on a metal mission.
Before the big names took place, the crowd were treated to two opening acts, the first of which, Arenia, was the only Spanish group on the bill. As is often the case for the opener, it was a sparse crowd which Arenia played for, but those in attendance were privy to something special. Their brand of power metal with a little symphonic taste is very impressive, as is the vocal talents of frontman Fran Santos, who was in fine form throughout. It's unfair to focus purely on the singer however, as every single member of the group performed with a tremendous passion and skill. If you're a fan of power metal, check out Arenia and their latest release, "El atardecer de los sueños" now because this quintet from Gijón are well on their way to becoming the top metal band from Spain. The great thing about conducting interviews for this site is the opportunity to meet some true metal legends from across the globe. Having previously met the likes of Udo Dirkschneider and Overkill frontman Bobby Blitz, it was a privilege to sit down with the whole lineup of German veterans, Rage, led by the mountainous Peter "Peavy" Wagner in Murcia, Spain, during their tour with Firewind.
Diamond Oz: So, you're touring in support of "Seasons Of The Black, " which has been out for about a year now, how's the response to the album been?
Peavy Wagner: Super cool.
Lucky Maniatopoulos: Actually it's the second album of this lineup, by the way we call this lineup "the last lineup."
Peavy: The last in lineup!
Lucky: It's the second album we've done, it continues the style of the album before but focused more on the original DNA of the band. The reception to "The Devil Strikes Again" was good but "Seasons Of The Black" even more, you can see it everywhere, people always say we're on the right track and really enjoy it live. So it seems we're doing something right, especially on this tour, which has been double the size of the last tour.
Peavy: I think that not only have the older fans realised that we're focused on the original style of the band, also the younger fans are getting into what the band should be.
Lucky: Marcos said it best that this is the old style of Rage with some modern salt and pepper. It's timeless, modern, historic, a mix of all that which hopefully attracts younger people.More...
