Kali Ma Splits With Guitarist Roy Moore

Connecticut act Kali Ma has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with guitarist Roy Moore:

"Last night’s band practice brought about some of the most unsuspecting news that saddens me to the core of my soul. As of May 13th, one of the founding members of this band, Roy Moore, will be stepping down as one of the guitarists of Kali Ma due to a job offer he has accepted in Florida.

"Words cannot express the sadness that I and the remaining members of this band feel. We started this band together almost 7 years ago in a small garage and we have not only grown as musicians and friends together, but as a family. Any person that is or has been in a band with individuals whom they have grown close to and that have shared something so spectacular with, knows that it is a terrible feeling to hear them tell you they will no longer be sharing the stage with you anymore. Roy has come to the fork in the road and has made a choice that we all respect and support.

"Our band has had the longevity to remain active for these past 7 years, not because it was something to do, but it’s because we love playing music and doing so together. We’re not just friends, we’re brothers and to have one of our brothers leave is just a gut wrenching feeling that leaves a big void in all of us. As musicians, we yearn to pick up our instruments and create music with people we love and we have had that opportunity for the past 7 years to do so and I believe I speak for all of us when I say that we wouldn’t change any of that for a second.

"We are in the process of recording and with this among us, we felt as though the project would be discarded and left for dead. However, Roy will continue to fly up here sporadically to help us finish the album, which we still want him to be very much a part of. As of now, all shows we have booked, except May 11th at City Limits in Waterbury, will be cancelled. This may be our last show with Roy forever, so if your available, we would love for everyone to attend to send him off with great memories. We are devastated to know that Roy will no longer be with us and with that being said, we don’t know what the future holds for the band. I’m pretty certain we will audition people who are interested in possibly being a part of this band, but if we are not fortunate enough to find a suitable replacement, it may be possible that we will call it a day.

"I’m sure that we will have a CD release show/last Kali Ma show type thing in the fall when we are finished recording the new and maybe last Kali Ma album, if we do not find the right replacement. With that being said, if you or anyone you know that is a very dedicated, reliable and hardworking guitarist that would like to join Kali Ma, please email us at kalimametal@yahoo.com with your info and we can discuss details further and arrange a date and time to jam starting next month sometime. We truly appreciate everyone’s support over the years. It’s an exhilarating feeling to be able to play music for you and anyone who has ever enjoyed this band. That’s something money can’t buy and is the true reward of being a musician."
