I have been a regular to this site for quite some time, I have a log-on but can not ever remember my password ... so I post randomly from time-to-time under a topical name ... and I have to say "thank you" for this added feature. I spent a couple hours tonight checking out the music, and loved it. I will definitely use this now and again to check out bands that get posted on the forum. Awesome!
I checked out the site and liked the fact that most of the bands are truly unknown, but every fifteenth band or so is a better known band. That way you convey your message of "underground" and give those bands exposure without maybe losing the interest of metal listeners that need something familiar to relate to. It's similar to the way college radio would do it - mostly new, underground music and "recurrent" metal bands.
After nearly a full day's worth of listening, I can definitely recognize the labels who are participating and would hit some runs of the same bands (I think I heard 4 songs off of Malevolent Creation's "Will to Kill" and then runs of several Relapse grind bands in a row). But I really hope that we'll get more of our readers to submit their bands' music as well and have even more underground metal on there.
i wouldn't mind helping out with an app DB. gonna take a class in the fall about how to do it. and u alrdy know that i've been learning programming for quite some time now. i'll be able to help out with an app once i'm done with school next spring. or even during the spring possibly.
but i'm also with bananana on wanting an MU livecast!!! lmao idgaf is it's audio only or a video podcast, i just want something!! lol
love it so far, i like the range of music included, it introduced me to a sick band "a storm of light" which ive been listening to ever since. i do have some feedback if your interested.
if possible could you sort the genres your interested in listening to? at one point a song by "a storm of light" came on, omega, which is a 15 minute epic progressive piece but overall is very peaceful. when the song finished i got launched right into swashbuckle and (no matter how much i love some good pirate metal) it kinda killed my buzz at the time lol. also, is there some way for us to submit band suggestions?
thanks for the effort youve put in so far, much love. <3
n0thinghead, the earbits folks would likely be on the app for this. Although, we definitely should talk about MU app possibilities. Hit me up on facebook.
Overlord, there's been talk of genres, but I think it's a slippery slope to get on. There is as much grey area material as there is well-definitely genre metal, and any "mistakes" will cause discontent :-) I'll see what Earbits proposes and look forward to the personalization features coming too.
that is true people tend to get their panties in a knot over categorizing their music into specific genres... its sad, i would love to have a filter so just the chill relaxing progressive stuff but alas, ill have to stick to putting porcupine tree on shuffle. :P
LOL. Well they had some death metal listed as hard rock too. They were supposed to have brought on someone more familiar with metal to properly classify it, so I'm not sure what's going on there. But to be fair, some of your stuff has a rock vibe too it even though it's louder and heavier than typical hard rock. So who knows :-) I'll see if I can get a line of communication open for stuff like this.

I've been on it a few times already over the past week and love it so far. Such a diverse range of bands.
