DevilDriver Premiere New Track & Music Video “Keep Away From Me”

An October 09th release date has been scheduled for the first half of DevilDriver‘s upcoming double album titled “Dealing With Demons I“. A video for a first track off of it, “Keep Away From Me” can be streamed via YouTube below:

Says frontman Dez Fafara of it:

“I’ve been social distancing since I was born. I’ve learned to try and embrace my Agoraphobia all my life. This is what the lyrics are about as we are all sheltered in place. They seem very clear. Now is not the time bands should shy away from the obvious by trying to push the narrative through their art as if everything is alright with the world and ‘it’s metal video visual as usual time’, as it is clearly NOT that time.

We as artists should speak up, inspire and change lives, or paint a picture – a time capsule if you will – by the narrative we push in uncertain times. This video is one such art piece as my band and thousands of others are forced into quarantine – cannot rehearse, take photos, or perform – to make a music video for the very people that have supported us for years.

It’s trying times for the world and my outlook through this video is simply this: ‘here’s what we are going through as a family on this planet and as we embrace what is yet to come… please Stand Together’.”

nobody wants to hear the COVID-19 theme song

a bad song altogether, way too repetitive and goes absolutely nowhere, this is assembly-line quality.

yo yo most everything to be said has already been said. there're only so many ways to be lyrically original anymore, regardless of popular music genres.

so with that point in mind it's rather how it's said and how it's presented. some prefer behemoth, others prefer DD and others prefer radio friendly rock/metal.

it ain't bad by any means but with this band having many, many albums out they're relying on fans to enjoy their musical take on things instead of demanding "oh we want something original" while offering nothing in return.

You just gotta dig it. If not, don't comment and move along.
