Malefice Reveals "Five" Details

Malefice's new album "Five" is set for release this coming April 28th, 2013 through Transcend Music. The band comments:

“After being written off we’re back to where we thrive the most. Being the underdog. We’ve always delivered something new and exciting in adversity and this time is no exception. The changes we have made have given us time to regroup and reinvent the sound of this band. Expect more bounce than ever, more hate than ever and more soul than ever. This is a record of feelings, how we are, where we want to be and where we will get to.

"This is the album we always wanted to write, where the evolution has taken us and has renewed our ‘take no prisoners’ attitude, something we always have at our live shows, you can hear the clarion call to arms in this recording. All music is a personal statement, this is our statement that no matter what, nothing can hold us back, nothing will keep us down and together we can, will and have survived all the bullshit thrown at us. This record represents everything we are as a collective and as individuals. It’ll be the soundtrack to your parties in 2013.”

The album's track listing is as follows:

1. V
2. The Great Deceiver
3. Never Say Die
4. Wasted
5. Time
6. Blueprints
7. Reach Up More...

Malefice Announces New Guitarist

U.K. melodic death band Malefice announced that touring stand in guitarist Andy Wilson (ex-XL) will replace the departed Alex Vuskans. The band made the following announcement on its Facebook Page:

"After a baptism of fire standing in for Alex Vuskans on the bands recent UK run with Sylosis MALEFICE have announced that ANDY WILSON will take over on a permanent basis.

"ANDY WILSON comments:

'I am very excited to be taking on the Malefice slot full time, the Sylosis tour couldn't have gone any better and the musical chemistry is undeniable. I can't wait to see what the future holds for the band.'

"And frontman DALE BUTLER adds:

'There's always controversy surrounding a band member leaving in any band. But I can’t stress enough how there is none in this situation. Alex felt he could no longer continue to give 100% to Malefice, and between us we decided that it would be better for him to leave. Alex is closer to me than most of my family, he'll always be my brother no matter what and nothing will change between us all on a personal level.

Those of you that saw us on the Sylosis tour will have seen Andy at work. The guy is a fucking machine, and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have as my lead guitarist! Andy has already brought new ideas to this band that we'll be working on together in the future!'

"And ALEX VUSKANS bows out with this:

'I just want to say a massive massive thank you to everyone that's come to the shows, bought our albums and supported myself and the boys over the last 10 years that I've been in Malefice. You guys are awesome and have helped create memories that last with me for a lifetime. I also want to go on record and state that there is NO bad blood between myself and the other members in the band; they still and always will be my brothers no matter what. I simply feel that now is the time for me to try new things in my life, whatever they may be. I wish nothing but success to the guys for the future and look forward to following their continued journey as a fan and not an active member. It's been emotional!!' "

Malefice Announces New Drummer

British death/hard/metal 'core band Malefice has announced its new drummer - Chris Allan-Whyte, formerly of Shy of the Depth. Former drummer Craig Thomas left the band on amicable terms after the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival. Band frontman Dale Butler comments:

“Malefice and Craig have been growing apart musically for some time, and therefore we all decided it was a good time for everyone to move on. We all want to thank him for his years of dedication, we’ll never forget the good times we had and we wish him luck in his new chosen direction!”

“Chris had the job as soon as he started playing. He was our last audition and we could tell looking around the room at the smiles on each other’s faces, that the whole band was convinced we had found our man. He’s brought new venom to our sound, and we’re really enjoying playing our music with the fresh vigour and perspective that he brings! We all know Chris from his previous band Shy of the Depth, who we toured with a few years ago, so on a professional and a personal level, we’re ready to get out on the road from May, with the new line up and kick some fucking heads in! See you in the pit!”

Allan-Whyte will make his live debut with Malefice at Malefice's Dundee show on May 19. To catch Malefice, complete with their new kit-man, check the tour dates on their MySpace Page.
