Hammerfall Shares New Music Video

Today, Swedish Heavy Metal frontrunners Hammerfall have released their latest single, "Brotherhood" – the third single from their forthcoming, much anticipated studio album, Hammer Of Dawn. "Brotherhood" is a musical salute to their most loyal fans, The Templars Of Steel, who have stuck by the band through thick and thin. It’s also a heartfelt internal nod to each other, recognizing the very close bond the band members have with each other, especially between guitarist Oscar Dronjak and singer Joacim Cans, whose brotherhood began way back in 1996.

Again, enlisting the help of seasoned video vanguard Patric Ullaeus to help them capture the essence of the song to film, together they have created a video that perfectly echoes the sentiment of the song itself and a video that will without a doubt thrill the very people that inspired the song itself, The Templars Of Steel. With the help of the band members children, who steal the spotlight with their cameos in the video, it’s obvious that that bond of brotherhood isn’t just with the band members themselves – it’s also with their kids and their fans.

Singer Joacim Cans on "Brotherhood":
"A fantastic musical piece and album opener in honor of the greatest fans in the whole world: The Templars of Steel! We wouldn’t be here without you!

"The video for the song includes both ”The Metal Dads” and the ”HF Teens” and really shows how much fun we are having together both on and off the stage."

Guitarist Oscar Dronjak adds:
"The singles released so far have been a good measuring stick but “Brotherhood” encompasses everything that has made us into what we are today. Fast and furious, melodic and riveting, 100% classic Hammerfall Heavy Metal!" More...

Helloween Postpones Select European Tour Dates

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Helloween and Hammerfall are unfortunately forced to postpone again parts of the United Forces Tour 2022.

Even though the situation seems to be partly easing, after consulting all European promoters they came to the conclusion that the still existing restrictions of individual countries and regions make it impossible to play the tour in one piece as planned. Helloween and Hammerfall are very sad about this, but are happy to be able to start with the original dates in England in May.

They are convinced to be close to the end of the pandemic and with the new dates they will finally be able to play the United Forces concerts for the fans!

Tour dates still going ahead:

04.05.2022 UK Manchester - Manchester Academy
05.05.2022 UK London - Brixton Academy
23.05.2022 FR Lyon - Transbordeur *

Hammerfall Unleashes New Song With King Diamond

Today, Swedish saviours of heavy metal Hammerfall have released their new single, "Venerate Me," featuring a special guest appearance by the legendary King Diamond. The track is the second taken from their twelfth studio album, "Hammer Of Dawn," set for release on 25th February 2022 via Napalm Records.

Watch the video to "Venerate Me" below.

"Venerate Me" continues to clearly show that Hammerfall are in top shape by delivering what Rock It! Magazine calls, “their strongest songs in years”. Expectedly, singer Joacim Cans doesn’t fail to leave a mark with his gripping vibrato and ever-powerful vocal projection that – in combination with strong guitar work and on-point drumming – make "Venerate Me" an outstanding yet trademark Hammerfall hymn.

Founding member and guitarist Oscar Dronjak commented on "Venerate Me": "The second single is here, and I’m very, very proud of it! The music was written during the darkest, most uninspiring days of the pandemic and still came out as one of the strongest on the whole album. Joacim’s fantastic lyric idea makes this track really stand out, and the special guest appearance towards the end really pushes it over the edge!"

Singer Joacim Cans adds: "The song is over loaded with enchanting melodies and a very catchy chorus. Lyrically one of my greatest efforts dealing with the fact that we die twice! First when we take our last breath and second when someone says your name for the last time. Say my name and I will never die!" More...

Helloween Announces Tour With Hammerfall

Due to the pandemic, the dates for Helloween's European tour, that was originally scheduled for April/May 2021, have been postponed again. However, this is no reason to hang your head, as the newly rescheduled tour will be even more exciting.

We all have to stick together to make it through this agonising live music gap, and because extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary measures, Helloween have invited their friends from Hammerfall to join them on their rescheduled European tour, to create a tremendous metal-package. The United Forces tour 2022 will now not only feature the full Helloween experience, but fans will also get a taste of fine Swedish steel, straight out of the Hammerfall forge. Both bands will have brand-new albums in their arsenal, and it will be the first opportunity for European fans to experience these new songs live. The long–awaited end to this dry spell is finally in sight.

Andi Deris: “We are 'hammered' to have our friends from Hammerfall with us on tour! Back in 2002 the band produced their album “Crimson Thunder” in my studio in Tenerife and we had a lot of fun back then." This mega-package is delivering the appropriate metal-spectacle to enter the stage with full power!

Oscar Dronjak can hardly wait: "We are so ridiculously excited about this! Not only do we get to go out on tour again after two looooooooong years of stage draught, but we get to do it with a band that we love and was a great inspiration to us in forming HAMMERFALL in the first place. The United Forces tour will be something truly special, you can count on that!“ More...

Thrashback Thursday: Hearts On Fire

It can be surprising where some seeds are sewn. If you were to tell someone that members of two of Sweden's most influential death metal bands were in the same group together at one stage, they'd probably think they already know what the music would sound like. Then tell them that the band in question that featured members of Dark Tranquillity and the founder of In Flames was one of the biggest names in power metal and they might not be so sure of themselves. Nevertheless, Hammerfall has included members from these groups and while starting off as something of a side project, as over time become one of Europe's most beloved heavy metal groups, selling thousands upon thousands of albums worldwide and becoming a mainstay of the summer festival circuit. This week we'll be taking a look at one of their most popular songs, "Hearts On Fire."

"Hearts On Fire" is arguably the stand out track on the "Crimson Thunder" album from 2002, which is not the most revered release by the band but nevertheless has its place in Hammerfall history. After the superb debut, "Glory to the Brave" in 1997 and the strong follow ups, "Legacy Of Kings" and "Renegade" in 1998 and 2000 respectively, some fans were a little disappointed with this fourth effort, feeling it was overproduced and formulaic. Despite this, "Hearts On Fire" is generally seen as a good starting point for those seeking to find out about the band or the power metal genre.

It begins with a two punch opening, led by a memorable riff. The verse itself doesn't offer much musically to be honest, but this is where the song is more focused on the delivery of the lyrics, leaving the listener to focus on the story at hand, told by vocalist Joacim Cans. This works in service of the sweeping, almost football chant style of the chourus. Essentially being a song about brotherhood, the chanting of the title works excellently as a unifying cry, aided by additional lines from Cans. After repeating this structure, the song lulls a little into a more hushed take on the refrain, before exploding with energy again. It may not be the most complex song Hammerfall have ever written, but it will stick in the listener's head for days and has become one of the band's best known tracks ever since. More...

HammerFall To Release Anniversary Edition Of Debut

Sweden's HammerFall will release the 20th Anniversary Edition of the celebrated debut record "Glory To The Brave" on December 1st. The release is chock full of bonus material.

When HammerFall released the debut album "Glory To The Brave" 20 years ago, the five Swedes launched a true heavy metal revival overnight. While the mainstream still concentrated on grunge and the metal scene was dominated by black metal and gothic acts, this traditional metal record was like a godsend and heralded a new era. "For us, the immense success was a real shock in the beginning," singer Joacim Cans remembers, because suddenly, HammerFall was considered to be the saviours of true metal. They received countless rave reviews from magazines, Wacken Open Air booked the band for a prime time slot on the main stage, Kai Hansen invited the band personally to join as support on the Gamma Ray tour and the CD entered the German album charts at the amazing position of #38 – an unbelievable achievement during this time. "Our advantage was that no one has expected us and our album. We only did what we wanted and felt compelled to do."

This passion was not least influenced by German metal acts like Accept, Helloween and Stormwitch, but also by other underdogs like Warlord or Picture. "I'm still very proud of this album, it has turned our lives upside down" the vocalist sums up, and is equally proud of the extensive re-release of the cult album, which will be released on December 1st via Nuclear Blast. The re-release includes the completely re-mastered version of "Glory To The Brave," a radio edit of the legendary title track as well as the great cover version of the Stormwich classic "Ravenlord." The bonus CD will include six live versions of "The Metal Age," "Steel Meets Steel," "Stone Cold," "Glory To The Brave," "Hammerfall" and "The Dragon Lies Bleeding," as well as a medley from numerous tracks off of their first-class debut album, which was recorded live this year at a show in Berlin.
