Serenity Issues Year End Update

Austrian metallers Serenity have issued the following year end update:

"Last news of the old year! Hi folks! It's been quite a while since we've updated things here ... but I'm sure you'll forgive us;))! So here is what's new: SERENITY was ranked #28 out of 40 bands in the readers' poll of German 'Rock It!' magazine (issue No. 55)! Considering the many hundreds of bands which are around that's just not bad!

"Our merchandise Christmas special was a huge success so we've decided to prolong it from tomorrow, January 1st until coming Wednesday, January 6th (Three Kings day or, for our Italian friends, the day of Befana;)). Have a look under 'shop' on our website to view our special prices and send an e-mail to mario.hirzinger@gmx.at if you're interested!

"Some fanatic out there programmed a Serenity song for the computer game 'Guitar Hero', we like that very much and (according to our guitarist) it's also well done. More...

Serenity Issues Road Report

Austrian metallers Serenity have issued the following road report from their current tour:

"Hi, we had another 2 days on the road and what to say??? Everything's just fine!

"Bielefeld/Germany was some kind of strange.... A lot of problems during the whole day for really everybody included into this tour package. No local crew, no stagehands, no lighting tech (I did lights for Threshold ;-), no backstage room (there was a bar where we had dinner and everything - but needed to get out there at around 6 p.m., and much much more.... This is really strange for such a tour - however, though only about 100 people the concert was great as always.

"Pratteln/Switzerland today was great, perfect PA, top lighning engineer, top technics everywhere, a hughe venue, about 350-400 people, perfect. Threshold is still playing their set (a great live band by the way) and SERENITY is just taking a shower (not together ;-)) The best thing on this tour is that we don't need to drive with a van and on our own. Going into the nightliner and don't need to worry on anything is a great feeling again! So no lack of sleep, no big problems. Ahhhhhhhhh great. More...

Serenity Writing New Album

Austrian metallers Serenity have issued the following announcement about working on a new album:

"Serenity will play 2 more gigs in ..Tyrol.. right after our touring activities with Threshold!

14.11.2009 PMK in ....Innsbruck...., support Desert Sin & t.b.a.
21.11.2009 Prägraten in Osttirol, with Emergency Gate and Horizon Divine

"These will be the last shows you will see us promoting our latest album Fallen Sanctuary. We are in the middle of the songwriting process for the next big SERENITY release and we are already working with our producer Oliver Philips of Everon and our artworks designer Gustavo Sazes on the new material. We will take some more time right after the Threshold tour for finishing all new songs and for polishing structures, voice changes, soloing, vocal lines and of course lyrics. This will probably take time till January and we will head to the studio when we are ready. Luckily we are in a position where we are able to enter studio without a fixed time schedule a year ahead. And our preproduction will already include all orchestrations and voicings, so we won't need that much time for orchestrations and these things. This will save us at least 2 months!!!! Status Quo on the songs: 3 songs fixed, another ..4 in.. their final stages, ideas, parts, lines & basic structures for another 4-6 songs, and 2-3 songs were put away (not good enough in our meaning - by the way: we never did that before!) ProgPower UK Cancelled

This year's ProgPower UK, which was scheduled for March 28-29 in Bristol, England, has been cancelled. The following message has been posted on wwwww.progpoweruk.com:

"This is the hardest decision we have ever had to make, but it is with great regret that we have had to cancel ProgPower UK III.

"We have made no secret of the financial difficulties that have dogged our first two years, which is why we made a significant number of changes for year three. However, ticket sales have been extremely poor and, as a result, there is no way we can stage the festival without losing a substantial amount of money – again.

"This decision has not been taken lightly and we are fully aware of both the disappointment and inconvenience it will cause. However, we simply cannot afford to keep pumping money into ProgPower UK and we can assure you that we are as disappointed about this as you no doubt are.

"As a result of this, ProgPower UK LLP will cease trading with immediate effect.

"Ticket holders who purchased tickets via cheque or Paypal through the ProgPowerUK website will be refunded by the method through which the tickets were purchased. This will be done within twenty-eight days.

"If you purchased tickets at Bristol Ticket Shop, please contact them directly for a refund.

"Please direct any enquiries to enquiries@progpoweruk.com All enquiries will be dealt with, but please be patient.

"We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us over the past three years, and also thank Rene Janssen and his team giving us the opportunity to make ProgPower UK a reality.

"The ProgPower UK Team"

The following bands were scheduled to perform at ProgPower UK:

Circus Maximus
Diablo Swing Orchestra
Thy Majestie
Vanden Plas
