Trollfest Releases "All Drinks On Me" Video

Bottoms up! Flamingo Overlords Trollfest buy a round of drinks for everyone just days shy of the release of their new album, Flamingo Overlord, dropping this Friday via Napalm Records! "All Drinks on Me" is a raucous party anthem in the vein of Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys that only Trollfest could deliver, arriving in perfect time to celebrate the album’s release – featuring special guest Jonne Järvelä of the infamous Korpiklaani! No matter where Trollfest pop up, a whole lot of fun is bound to occur – Flamingo Overlord is one of the craziest, most eccentric, and multi-faceted releases of the year!

Trollfest Singer Jostein “Trollmannen” Austvik says:
"‘All Drinks On Me‘ is a party song to go along with those wonderful great parties that become the talk of the town once they go down. With the highest possible singalong factor this tune is guaranteed to make you stomp your foot and sing yourself hoarse while sharing the best of times with your finest friends." More...

Korpiklaani Reveals New Album Details

Korpiklaani today announce their new studio album "Jylhä," which will be released on February 5th via Nuclear Blast Records. "Jylhä" (which has no direct translation, but can be described as majestic and also wild or rugged in a strong, beautiful way) will be available as digital album, CD, black vinyl and grass green vinyl [limited to 300 pieces]. The pre-order will start soon.

In celebration of the happy news, the band has released a music video for the first single "Leväluhta," which can be viewed below.

Singer Jonne states: "'Jylhä' is not just a battering heavy metal record, it's also our most volatile full-length album to date. For example, some of the new songs feature energetic punk rock influences and there are even some audible laid-back reggae-rhythms, like our first single, 'Leväluhta.'"

"Leväluhta" (or Levänluhta) is a spring in Isokyrö. The remains of approximately a hundred Iron Age bodies have been found buried there, and it remains unclear why the deceased were laid to rest in the spring. In the story, the narrator himself is one of the buried, floating in the lap of clear water beyond time and knowledge. The video tells us a fictional story about what may have happened in the mystical Leväluhta. More...

Gerre stated, "I remember when we toured with Korpiklaani across Finland in 2009, where we had tons of fun! Korpiklaani Posts New Video Online

Finnish folk metal superstars Korpiklaani are due to release their new studio album Kulkija ("Wanderer"), on September 7th through Nuclear Blast. Today the band presents their 3rd single, a happier song compared to the previous songs entitled 'Henkselipoika'. To support the new track, Korpiklaani have recorded a nostalgic video with director Markku Kirves, who has previously worked with the band for their "Rauta," "Vodka" and "Tequila" music videos. You can check it out below,.

Jonne commented, "'Henkselipoika' pretty much wrote itself. The first thing to come to my head was the verse riff, on top of which the melody wrote itself. The song was a very easy piece to write and it was finished in one day. As far as I can remember, this was the first finished song for the new album Kulkija." More...

Korpiklaani Posts New Video Online

Finnish Folk Metal Superstars Korpiklaani are set to release their new studio album 'Kulkija' ('Wanderer') on September 7th 2018 via Nuclear Blast. Today, the band have unveiled the second single, "Harmaja," in the form of a thought-provoking music video. Watch the clip, directed by Ville Lipiäinen (Nightwish, Beast In Black, Powerwolf), below.

Says Jonne; "'Harmaja' is an unusual Korpiklaani song with its slow tempo and emotional strength. The song is about longing and I managed to charge it with a great emotional atmosphere. When making the album we mostly used the first takes; we didn't get stuck in details when there was no particular need to.

"I was surprised - although in a positive sense - that Nuclear Blast wanted to release 'Harmaja' as a single and a video. Usually they prefer more uptempo, fun drinking songs. The new album 'Kulkija' of course has that material too since being over an hour long it contains the entire scope of different emotions. More...

Korpiklaani Announces New Album

Finnish folk metal superstars Korpiklaani are happy to finally announce the release of their upcoming 10th studio album entitled Kulkija ("Wanderer"), on September 7th 2018 through Nuclear Blast. Its cover was designed by Jan Yrlund (Battle Beast, Manowar etc.) who has already created several artworks for some of the band's previous albums and singles.

Founding member Jonne Järvelä commented:
"We've never been as satisfied with a final result as we are with Kulkija. We tried to keep it very natural, and that's what you'll soon clearly be able to hear. Like the wanderer, this album is a journey, one that makes you feel good. Stay tuned!"

Accordionist Sami Perttula added:
"Kulkija isn't just a collection of songs, it's a "real" album with a unique atmosphere guiding the listeners through a long journey. All songs were well prepared in advance and nothing needed to be arranged in the studio. Tuomas [fiddle] & I had lots of space to develop and play the folk arrangements."

70000 Tons Of Metal: Day Three

Two days of metal is a real treat, but with another two days of hard and heavy tunes to come, a little recharge of the batteries does no harm. So it was that on the morning of February 3rd, the Independence Of The Seas docked in Cockburn Town, in the Grand Turks and Caicos Islands, with fans, crew and musicians alike stretching their legs in this beautiful Caribbean setting. The heat is about what you'd expect and sun screen is a must (though being charted $25 for a bottle is a liberty,) the water is crystal clear and refreshing to the touch and the local staff are very welcoming, right down to having a DJ booth set up playing metal music, which was more than happy to take requests (I couldn't resist the urge to ask for Mezarkabul - "Bir.")

After a relaxing day at the beach, fans were asked to be back on the ship by half 4 that afternoon. Getting back on with enough time to get some dinner and a round of golf in on the pool deck, a bit of power metal was first on the agenda and so it was that I made my first trip to the Ice Rink to check out German act, Evertale. Like a number of groups I reported on yesterday, I'm unfamiliar with the majority of their work and this was more about checking out a new band for me. Evertale are solid, it's fair to say. Their brand of power metal isn't groundbreaking or new, but in a genre nostalgic for the fantasy themes more common in the 80s than today, that's not necessarily a requirement. They don't possess anything special when it comes to stage presence either, though againm there's nothing particularly wrong with it. Not much to say except that they're worth a go if you like this kind of thing, but those with little to no interest in power metal won't be especially impressed. More...
