Blood Music Comments Bandcamp Fundraiser

Yesterday - Friday, the 3rd - Bandcamp donated all the company's profits to the ACLU, and a horde of bands and labels also joined in to further donate all their individual profits for the day. One such label was underground metal champion Blood Music, which just issued this statement:

"OK - that was pure insanity! The fundraising is over but was an INSANE success!! The breakdown - Bandcamp estimated that it was going to bring in about $1 million for the day. Meanwhile, Blood Music's high fundraising goal was 600 EUR net. However, it looks like we brought in FOUR TIMES THAT - somewhere between 2500-3000 EUR (!!!!) in gross revenue. Estimates:

"Blood Music (Bandcamp revenue side) - around 300 USD of the receipts raised will be donated by Bandcamp.

"Blood Music (label revenue side) - around 2500 USD of the receipts raised will be donated by the label.

"That is an estimated 2800 USD that we raised to donate in one day. I will go through all the transactions one-by-one within a week or so and start sending off the donations. And I'm going to throw in an extra 50 EUR on top of the label's own money just to participate as well.

"The craziest news of all? Bandcamp estimated it will donate 120,000 USD. If we donate 2500 USD extra we'll be adding more than 2% to the entire total of Bandcamp's donations. That is HUGE considering the amount of users / labels / artists on the site! This was just one page out of many thousands on Bandcamp, so we made a SERIOUS dent. More...

Heavy Metal In Video Games Part 5

Today we're going to take another look at the limited options available, covering some old and some new entries that should be sitting on your shelf or taking up space in your Steam library.

For those who missed our previous three articles discussing various games with heavy metal soundtracks, be sure to go back and check 'em out (and let us know if you end up playing or re-playing any of these gems!):

Part 1: the amazing Brutal Legend, Saints Row III, Killing Floor 2, Pain Killer, and Guilty Gear X2 Reload

Part 2: Splatterhouse, Twisted Metal 2, The Witcher's bonus music disc, and Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost And The Damned.

Part 3 (the retro edition!): Rock And Roll Racing, Beavis And Butthead, F-Zero X, Earthbound, and Heavy Metal Geomatrix

Part 4: the return of music games with Rock Band in addition to Carmageddon, NeverDead, and NeverGone. More...

GosT Releasing "Behemoth"

GosT's unique blend of retro horror has finally hit full stride in a aggressively beautiful debut album "Behemoth" with slicing bass grooves and evolving atmospheres.

This is part slasher film, part monster movie, part late-night danceclub desperation, with equal amounts of influence from 1980s horror flicks, 1990s black metal, and a touch of 2000s club electro.

The album features cover art hand-drawn by French duo Førtifem, and it will officially drop on April 28th, 2015. More...
