Unearthly Trance has announced an upcoming split EP with Suma. Unearthly Trance guitarist Ryan Lipynsky commented on the collaboration:
"Two years after their sought after (and promptly sold out) split 10", both beasts team up together again for a unique collaboration in order to celebrate and support their head-lining US tour in October 2010. These recordings are brand new (summer 2010), not to be mistaken with the 10"s ones. This is not your usual split record where each band fills up one side of the record. This collaboration merges both bands into one only entity for +20 minutes.
"Each side of this record features the other band's vocalist along with some contributing noise from the other band. This unique idea all came together very spontaneously and it serves as a document of true exploration and experiment of the unknown forces of control. The results are very exciting and unlike anything each band has done. This collaboration somehow morphed the two bands together in an unprecedented yet very pleasing way. This vinyl / cd is meant to commemorate their forthcoming USA tour in the fall 2010 where the band will share the stage with each other once again. 'Sleepwalking Through A Maze' consists of music that Suma recorded in Malmo and sent to Ryan Lipynsky in Brooklyn where he recorded his words for his vocals. More...

Sweden's Aeon has issued the following announcement about parting ways with drummer Nils Fjellström:
"Our drummer, Nils Fjellström has decided to leave the band on a very short notice. The reason for this is personal / private and Nils has chosen not to speak his mind out to the public about this. We will respect his wish not to do so, and therefore we will not reveal any details nor answering questions about this. As you may know, this is not the first time Nils is out of the band, but it's most certain the last.
"How strange this even may sound, I really think that we will be better off without him in the long run. We need a drummer who we can rely on at all times, someone who can be there for us when opportunities shows up etc. To take this band any further, we need a line-up where everyone has the same visions and goals.
"At least this time around, there where no big tours planned like the last time Nils bailed out on us. We only had one show planned ahead that was scheduled to take place October 16. We kindly asked Nils to do at least this show with us before he left, but he simply didn't agree to do so. This leaves us with no choice but to cancel our spot in this event. There is just to little time to rehearse a full headline set with a new session-drummer. Perhaps the promoter (Hårdrocksklubben) finds a new headliner for this evening or it will get canceled. Spain's Northland has issued the following update about recruiting a new live bassist:

"We would like to thank Vic for the work and time being devoted to Northland! And secondly, to inform you that we are working on new dates in Spain and over Europe, from January to April. Just stay on tune NORTHLANDERS!"

Finland's Crystalic has checked in with the following announcement about offering the band's new album "Persistence" as a free download at this location:
"Persistence... 'He conquers who endures' - Persius. So this is the way that music business works these days... We have patiently contacted record labels for over a year now and have not managed to get a single deal offered, that was nothing more than a total rip-off on the artist's expense. You really think that this material is not worth a decent release?!
"We want to progress and evolve as a band and concentrate on playing live and composing new songs. This is not possible if we have an album's worth of material recorded and ready for release. Just waiting and waiting endlessly for a possible collaborator. We have waited enough and this is the only choice. The name of the album is an indication of the last 3 years that we have managed to pull through after a near break-up and the difficult process of recording, which took almost 2 years, 3 studios and a vocalist change in the middle of it all. You might read ´em once we have something physical to offer! In the meantime: listen to these demo's on here! We'll offer something new in the near future!"

We sincerely apologize to you South Islanders - but we promise to be there as soon as we can! We're working on more dates as this is being typed. Tainted will still be headlining both shows in Dunedin and Christchurch as part of the Kiwi Metal Bar's Nationwide Tour - so metal will still be heading your way!
"We would also like to send our best wishes to all Christchurchians who have suffered at all during the Earthquake crisis - we hope you can find the strength to rebuild and recover stronger than before."

Five Finger Death Punch is the rare heavy metal band that has had consistent radio success in the past few years. As heavy metal has trended toward the extreme recently, bands like Five Finger Death Punch are much rarer and they get put down more often by the troo metal fans as pale approximations of real metal. But Five Finger Death Punch guitarist and founder Zoltan Bathory just won the Dimebag Darrell Shredder Award at the 2010 Golden God Awards, and for the leader of a band named Five Finger Death Punch he has remarkably well-grounded opinions on how the band fits into the metal landscape, among other things. He was kind enough to take an hour out of his day to chat over the phone with Metal Underground, and the below transcript is what he had to say. More...
