Austere Album To See Re-Issue

Austere's first album "Withering Illusions and Desolation" will see a re-issue via Eisenwald Records on October 29th, 2013. The following press release was issued about the coming re-issue:

"Originally released in 2007, Austere's 'Withering Illusions and Desolation' debut appeared seemingly out of nowhere and soon came to be considered a modern classic of suicidal, heartwrenching black metal.

"The duo's roots run deep in the enigmatic Australian black metal underground, but here on Withering Illusions and Desolation, Austere crafted hysterical yet hauntingly melodic epics of absolute anguish and utter despair, taking the foundation laid down by Burzum to new heights/depths.

"Now, at long last, a proper and final re-issue of this first Austere album arrives courtesy of Eisenwald, with new band-selected artwork, new mastering, and packaged in a six-panel digipack: their distant and desolate black metal has never been presented better."

1. Unending Night
2. ...Memories
3. The Dawn Remains Silent
4. Withering Illusions And Desolation

Gigan Posts New Track

Extreme tech metal mind-mashers Gigan today unleash another new track from the "Multi-Dimensional Fractal Sorcery And Super-Science" album. Titled "Mother of Toads," the twisted tune of torment comes by way of Invisible Oranges and can be heard below.

Describes guitarist Eric Hersemann, "'Mother of Toads' is the fourth song on Multi-Dimensional Fractal Sorcery And Super-Science and it is directly inspired by the short story of the same name written by Clark Ashton Smith. Essentially the story and lyrics speak of an old crone hidden away in the dark recesses of a marsh, a witch motivated by a sinister hunger for seduction and evil. The music itself reflects the chaos of her world and her crawling minions, as well as the giddy confusion experienced by those caught within her spell... a combination of terror, revulsion and unearthly beauty."

Death Toll Rising Announces New Album

Featuring a combination of death and thrash metal, Edmonton-based Death Toll Rising formed in 2003 in Stony Plain, Canada and has been grinding the Western Canadian metal scene steadily. The following press release was issued about the band's lineup and upcoming album:

"New addition Tylor Dory on guitars has introduced a technical and progressive element to the band they have not had in the past. Add in the intense and relentless drumming provided by Bryan Newbury (recently recruited by Canadian prog/death powerhouse Into Eternity), as well as the well-rounded rhythm provided by Drew Copeland on guitar and Mike Puff on bass, and you get a monster that is only now being unleashed upon the masses with vocalist Jesse Berube topping things off with a combination of brutal death growls and Tomas Lindberg-esqe high shrieks, which will be plenty noticeable as they gear up for the release of their sophomore album 'Infection Legacy' on October 22nd, the follow up to their 2010 debut album 'Defecation Suffocation' and 2008 EP 'Spontaneous Decapitation'."

Guitarist Drew Copland comments: "This album has been a long time coming for us, but we firmly believe in taking your time and never releasing something that you feel is inferior in any way. We are incredibly stoked on how this album turned out, and are confident that fans will find it just as crushing as we do! It definitely represents the next level for us in terms of song writing and sound and cannot wait to get it into your ears!" More...

"So what does this mean for Chapters now? Don't worry, we will still be constantly writing new tunes for you to have eargasms over and we will be going back to our 'roots' and bringing you new tunes in the style of our original EP but this time pushing the boundaries of what we can do and having a laugh in the mean time! Meek Is Murder Reveals New Album Details

Brooklyn's Meek Is Murder has completed work on second full-length, "Everything Is Awesome Nothing Matters." The album is set for an October 22nd vinyl release on Threshold of Pain Records and a digital release via the band.

For "Everything Is Awesome Nothing Matters," Meek Is Murder employed the same one-two punch of a production team that crafted the 2011 full-length debut, "Algorithms:" producer and Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou (High On Fire, Nails) and mastering ace Alan Douches (Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan).

A video from the recording sessions at Kurt Ballou’s Godcity Studio is now streaming below courtesy of MetalSucks.

The inspiration for the album comes from what guitarist/vocalist Mike Keller calls "the most trying year of my life," involving three deaths in his family, the end of a four-year relationship, the loss of all his possessions in a fire, temporary homelessness, illness, and a critically injured dog.

Says Keller: "In a year like that, the temptation is there to become despondent and angry with the world. But you do what you can to get through the day and in the end you become a stronger dude for it. The truth was always there but I was finally able to make some sense of it all. Life is a paradox: it is cruel and beautiful and any meaning comes from within. Embrace your insignificance and make what you want, just because you want to experience the journey of making it. Everything is awesome. Nothing matters." More...

Tom Williams (guitars) states: “The idea behind Anonymous is doing something selflessly because you think that it will be better for the human race. What we want to accomplish with this record is to raise awareness for things that concern us with our country, share personal issues throughout our lives and bring you a record that is heavy, fresh and powerful. The main musical focus of Anonymous is to capture the universal language, that is, bobbing your head. Everybody can feel it, no matter what style of music, people can feel the flow. Today Cvlt Nation helps spread the infection by hosting a stream of the full release for all to experience. Eliminate your enemies or just party hard to the raging ZUD riffery in the player below. The following press release was also issued:

"Seamlessly melding the callous, grimy, black metal antagonism and untamed abandon of Watain, Peste Noire, Bathory and other infamous black metal cults with a more free-form classic rock jam approach more akin to something found on a dusty Roky Erickson or early Van Halen LP, Zud's charged but undeniably pleasurable approach to songwriting is nothing short of entertaining and ballsy. Zud somehow does something vibrant and fresh while simultaneously paying homage to those who forged the paths the four members have traveled thus far in life. Writers at major renowned media sources down to the smallest fan-run blogs have been dropping killer blurbs and reviews on Zud's mad methods over weeks past, The Good, The Bad And The Damned inspiring an infectious rash of full-on praise from across the globe.

"Recorded and mixed by Todd Hutchinson (Falls of Rauros, AOK Suicide Forest) at Acadia Recording Company in Portland, Maine and mastered by Tore Stjerna (Watain, Repugnant) at Necromorbus Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, The Good, The Bad And The Damned rolls with more than forty minutes of badass riffage, the album self-released on the Summer Solstice in a limited run of 333 hand-numbered gatefold digipak CDs, available direct from the band here."
