Germany's Crematory has inked a deal with Steamhammer/SPV for the release of new album "Antiserum" on February 24th, 2014.
"We're really looking forward to our collaboration with Steamhammer/SPV, a globally renowned label and expert partner in what we're planning for the future," says drummer Markus Jüllich. "Our fans can look forward to Antiserum, on which we have gone one step further than we did on our comeback album Revolution in terms of our electronic influences. In collaboration with Elmar Schmidt of Hamburg EBM act Centhron, we have come up with a haunting mix of metal riffs and EBM keyboards. That's why I'd refer to Antiserum's musical direction as 'EBM metal'."
The first single release "Shadowmaker" will be out on November 22nd, 2013. Jüllich comments: "Even before the whole record was finalized we knew that 'Shadowmaker' had absolute hit potential. You'd be hard put to announce our new album better than with this song." More...
Today, Spin Magazine is hosting a stream of "Blood!," the newly-released but long-ago-recorded LP from iconic '80s Santa Cruz surf/skate/hardcore act, Bl'ast! Check out the full album at this location.
Now available worldwide via Southern Lord, the "Blood!" masters were unearthed by the members of Bl'ast! earlier this year and delivered to Southern Lord Recordings. The label immediately contacted Dave Grohl to mix the material at his 606 Studios, on the legendary Neve console as featured in the recent Grohl-produced documentary Sound City, preparing the album for release somewhere in the vicinity of two-and-a-half decades after their inception.
Additionally, the recordings were from a rare lineup in the band's lineage, being the only recordings ever made while short-lived second guitarist William Duvall (Neon Christ, currently the vocalist for Alice In Chains) was a part of the Bl'ast! family.
Convulse has revealed November 1st as the release date for upcoming album, "Evil Prevails," set to be released internationally through Svart Records.
"Evil Prevails" will be coming on CD, LP, and digital formats, and follows Convulse's comeback EP, "Inner Evil," released earlier this year by Svart. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Finnish death metal quartet Convulse are commonly known as one of the most classic bands from the first wave of Finnish death metal, with the debut album World Without God being one of the most collectible items of the era. But this past January's comeback EP Inner Evil, recorded after an 18-year break, proved that the group can still cut it.
"Led by guitarist and growler Rami Jämsä with original bass player Juha Telenius and newer recruits Kristian Kangasniemi (guitar) and Rolle Markos (drums), Convulse spent the whole of August locked away in an old-fashioned analog studio, recording what was to become Evil Prevails."
Rami Jämsä describes the album as a "fascinating combination of old-school death metal, lightning-fast thrashing parts, some blastbeats here and there, and even ultra-slow doom elements. The Convulse of the year 2013 is heavier and meaner than ever before. This album is a rebirth as much as it is continuation of the old-school spirit." More...

"Hey guys and gals, a little update - I've decided to step away from the Ghost Ship Octavius project. So, I am no longer involved with that. Best of luck to the rest of the guys."
The band also added, "We wish Chris and Sara Claudius best of luck as well. Ghost Ship Octavius is NOT ending. We are just beginning and continuing to move forward despite our recent departures."
U.K. based act Severenth has checked in with the following announcement about recruiting a new guitar player:
"I am pleased to announce that Severenth's new guitarist is Mark Doyle. Formerly a guitarist with Manchester act Profane, Mark has shared stages with Mark Tremonti, Yngwie Malmsteen, Enter Shikari, Ministry, Life of Agony, Skindred, Oceansize and Breed77 to name a few."
Mark states: "I'm excited to be joining Severenth and I can't wait to get started on the new album; the guys are all incredibly talented musicians and it's going to be a lot of fun working together."
Mike Green, Severenth's manager, aslo adds, "I am absolutely delighted and also excited at the prospect of Mark joining the Severenth family. We will be concentrating on finishing our third album, which we hope to be launching in the new year."

"Waiting for the End to Come" follows previous full-length album "Heaven's Venom" (reviewed here).
It's Tuesday, which means the time has come for another Pit Story from those road warriors who get on stage to let the mosh flow for headbangers around the world.
This week's story comes courtesy of Dissension vocalist/guitarist Nathan Afilalo, who shares this tale of a Toys-R-Us Satanic sacrifice:
If you were to go just north east of Montreal’s inner city, there lies a hole in a brick wall. In said whole one finds a shitty ass venue, packed with sweaty teenagers, amateurish gratify, more band stickers than all the hairs in Odin’s beard, and a giant dog who lays equally giant shits on the pit floor. In said venue, there was a heavy metal show taking place. On a side note the venue was legally considered a cafe.
It was at this show that our band, Dissension, decided to incorporate a poorly executed somewhat Ghost reminiscent comedy routine midway through the set. We had our friend come up on stage and perform a demonic gospel sermon, in a deep southern accent naturally, to dimmed lights and a smoke machine we got discounted at Canadian Tire during the Halloween sales. Our drummer was on the keys playing one of his spooky church organ originals (if you can appreciate a drummer playing keyboards then this is very funny). Amidst the terrible music and Satanic proselytizing, our friend took out a baby doll from beneath his cloak which had a upside-down cross painted on its face. The crown went wild for the Toys-R-Us sacrifice as it flew into the pit as our next song began.
The hapless doll fell into the frenzied crowd and we thought, “a fitting sacrifice for the dark Lord,” and forgot about it. However, the end of the night came, the venue lights turned on, and strewn about the shit-stained floor were various members of the doll’s little body. What was most hilarious, however, was that when we went outside in the alley adjacent to the venue, we found the limbless husk of the plastic child lit of fire, with its satanic eyes peering at us from behind the flames. The miniature fire died down and we retrieved the head. It's charred remains are still in our jam space today.
Dissension's new album "Of Time And Chronic Disease" is due out September 10th, and we'll be releasing a song from the album later this week, so keep your eyes peeled! You can also read our recent interview with the band right here, or follow the band's activity at Facebook.
Las Vegas metal band .bipolar. announced last week that guitarist Rob Bauer would be stepping down and Brian Jackson (formerly of Skinlab, Society 1 and Kreep) will be taking the position. The band comments:
"We want to thank everyone who has been supportive to us over the last 10 years. We wouldn't still be doing this if it wasn't for the amazing experiences and people we've been lucky to encounter.
"We announced a few weeks ago that Rob had to step down from his position as guitar player and now we want to proudly announce that a replacement has been found. Everyone please welcome Brian Jackson to the .bipolar. family.
"He comes to us with a long resume of amazing bands such as Kreep, Skinlab and Society 1 as well as with great enthusiasm for all that .bipolar. is. He also is out to break our 2 year guitar player curse! Great things are in store...."
Florida's The Reset has checked in with the following statement about delays in the release of the band's new album:
"Lots of questions have been popping up about our album that was supposed to be released days ago, I have the good and bad news.... we have been placed with pushing back the album just a few weeks but in turn we get 2 final guest musicians on the album one vocalist and one guitarist.
"We could not decline the offers thus us having to move it back a bit but I promise it will be all worth it! If you pay close attention to the scene these guests will for sure blow your mind." More...
Temple Of Baal will release a new album entitled "Verses Of Fire" on October 22nd in Europe and November 12th in North America. Agonia Records comments:
"Verses Of Fire's sound has been carefully manufactured by Andrew Guillotin in Hybreed Studios. Focusing on a more organic side thanks to the use of tube amps and natural drums, the production allows the natural old-school feeling of the band to shine through the whole album. Through ten tracks, lasting about one hour, the band explores a wide spectre of extreme metal: from raging blast beats and thrashing riffs, though haunted mid tempo vibes, and up to the point of band's primal influence - the sinister sounds of early 90's black/death metal.
"The album will be available as digipack CD, limited double LP and extra limited (66 copies) gold LP. Pre-orders are available here. Keep a lookout for a debut song!"
The track listing is:
1. The Star 418
3. Arcana Silentium
4. The 10th Aethyr
5. Gates Of Death
6. Gnosis Of Fire
7. Golden Wings Of Azazel
8. Lord Of The Raging Seas
9. Serpens Luminis
10. Walls Of Fire More...
Iced Earth has now finished work on a new album, which follows the previous full-length "Dystopia" (reviewed here). The band comments:
"Metal Heads! We have completed recording, mixing, and mastering for the new album 'Plagues of Babylon.' It’s been a long summer, but a very productive one. I am very proud of my band mates! Everyone kicked ass, and we made a really special record.
"Now, it’s time try to rest for a few 'minutes' before the next chapter of world touring begins.
"Best to you all! We will see our European friends on the road with our brothers in Volbeat, then the rest of you on the Worldwide Plagues Tour 2014!"

Huntress has kicked off yet another year of relentless touring, following the release of latest album "Starbound Beast." After a run on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Huntress also just wrapped up a tour with Glenn Danzig for his 25th Anniversary tour with Misfits guitarist Doyle.
Vocalist Jill Janus had this to say about her time on the road with Glenn Danzig: "Touring with Danzig has been surreal. As an angsty teenage girl, I used to dream that one day I would duet with Glenn Danzig. Being chosen to tour with him was already mind blowing, but I also had the honor of singing 'Skulls' with him in St. Paul, MN! I was watching the show from side stage. Doyle had just played a couple Misfits songs with the band. Then I see Glenn turn and ask if I'd like to join him for a duet! Performing with two of my idols was stellar. This has been a killer experience for Huntress, watching Glenn Danzig nightly from the wings, he has mastered his craft and we've learned a lot from him on this short run. He's also hilarious, his sense of humor and attitude have made our time with him so much more incredible! Hail Danzig!"
After a short break this September, Huntress will be back on the road with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, and Testament. The tour kicks off October 22nd in Toronto, ON, and runs through November 26th in Silver Spring, MD. It has also been confirmed that Lamb of God will be taking Huntress to Europe and the UK in early 2014. A complete list of dates can be found below. More...

Dirge Eternal has checked in with the following update about recording an upcoming new album:
"Our album recordings are moving forward. All the drums, bass, rhythm guitars and most of the solos are done. We have 3 song recorded with vocals and we are recording more at upcoming weekends.
"We have to take a small break from the studio because Stam1na is coming there to record their new album as well and we will continue with the final mix straight after they have everything recorded.
"It's actually nice to have a small break from the studio and I have some time to do the orchestrations and keyboards at my home studio. Did I already say it's sounding killer?
"We're also launching a new website with the graphics of the new album and our website has moved to a more simple address right here. You can catch us there from now on.
"Stay metal guys, I know our new album will."

Church of Void is now stream the entirety of its "Dead Rising" album via Metal Hammer's website. Give the album a listen via the player below. "Dead Rising" was released last week through Svart Records on both CD and LP formats.
Self-described as the new wave of classic doom metal, Church of Void wears its influences proudly on both sleeves and cites a sound as deeply affected by classics such as Saint Vitus, Black Sabbath, and Pentagram, but one can also hear overtones of Scandinavian downer rock in the vein of Mana Mana and Babylon Whores here and there.
Thematically, Church of Void steer away from the popular occult current and focuses on levels of the human condition instead. "We write our material both as individuals and as a group," comments Corvus, "and most of it draws inspiration from archaic human instincts, needs, and emotions." More...
Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt conducted an interview with the Swedish newspaper Expressen, during which he commented on what fans can expect from the band's next album, the follow-up to 2011's "Heritage" (reviewed here).
Mikael comments: "We looked at Rockfield studio in Wales where Queen recorded 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' We have not decided yet, but it will be an expensive album. There is a lot going on, a lot of string arrangements that we have not had before."
He says the new music he's been writing (four songs are complete, with three more in progress) is "Maybe a little harder [than Heritage], but not death metal hard but hard rock/heavy metal hard. Since there are many progressive parts and very acoustic guitars but more sinister riffs."
He also reveals that he'll be producing the record himself, saying, "I love how Dio's Holy Diver sounds, this early '80s sound where the '70s still remain but there is more weight in the entire production. At the moment, I want to get a similar sound, which is not retro but it sounds like real instruments and has a little more weight than Heritage."
The full interview can be read (in Swedish) at this location. In other Opeth news, it was also recently announced that Mikael Akerfeldt will be curating the Roadburn 2014 festival, hand picking the bands to be on the bill. Get full details right here.
Following a summer of storming through Europe, South America, and Mexico while topping the bills at solo shows and major festivals, Slayer will headline its first North American tour in two years.
The five-week-plus trek will kick off on October 22nd in Anchorage, Alaska, oddly enough marking the first time the band has played there since October 23rd, 1996. The tour will include the band's previously announced return to New York's Theatre at Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Palladium, venues the band hasn't performed at in 25 years.
Slayer - Tom Araya/bass vocals, guitarist Kerry King, drummer Paul Bostaph, and guitarist Gary Holt, who continues to fill in for the late founding member Jeff Hanneman - will have Gojira and 4ARM support on all dates.
While still recovering from the devastating loss of Jeff Hanneman, Araya and King have begun to work on new material and hope to spend some time in the studio prior to this tour.
With more dates to be announced, confirmed dates for Slayer's 2013 Fall North American tour are as follows: More...
