Unique Leader Records has issued the following announcement about signing a deal with The Kennedy Veil:
"Extreme metal trends are about to receive a much needed kick to the throat, courtesy of Sacramento, CA's modern death metal titans, The Kennedy Veil. Avoiding the used, abused and predictable hat tricks that have plagued the extreme metal underground for the last several years, The Kennedy Veil have successfully managed to carve their own path in spite of it. Taking influence from pioneers like Deicide, Morbid Angel and Suffocation coupled with the more refined aggression of bands like Origin, Psycroptic and Decapitated, the end result is exactly what TKV intended.
"No throwbacks, no breakdowns, no wanking, no trends. Just their own brand of straight forward crushing modern death metal, which they are extremely proud bring to the table of their new label home, Unique Leader Records.
"The band's self released full length, 'The Sentence of Their Conqueror', gave you an idea of what The Kennedy Veil is capable of, and the recently released single, 'Disciples of Dead Aeons', allows an even better glimpse into the band's trend killing sonic evolution. But nothing will fully prepare you for what they are set to unleash with their forthcoming label debut. With Unique Leader as the catalyst, humanity is about to be reduced to ashes!"
Vocalist Cody Walker had the following to say about signing with Unique Leader: "We are extremely excited to be on such a prestigious label with a roster steeped in a history that we, as a band and as individuals, have loved and respected for many years. It was stated and agreed upon early on as a band, that if we could hand pick a label suited for us, it would be
Unique Leader. Brutal is as Brutal does."

"Another breaking news, High Roller Records from Germany is gonna release 'Coma' in February on VINYL! YES VINYL! 350 black and 150 on "piss yellow" clear vinyl. How awesome is that??
"The CD version of the album will be out next month through EBM records, you can order your copies from them at EBMRECORDS.com or through us any way you damn well want!! HUH!

"I am very proud to have been a part of the band in every way and I would like to thank the fans and also my friends in the band with all my heart for all the unique and life-changing experiences over the years.
"Dødheimsgard will continue, of course, with Vicotnik's bulletproof resilient talents for making some of the best metal music in the world, and the tightest lineup the band has ever seen. I'm looking forward to seeing them again as a fan, from the front row. I will now devote all my creative energy to my own music with Hexvessel. Blessed equinox one and all."

In a statement on the band's Facebook page: "Fourteen years of commitment, a lot of work and dedication prove that we were able to keep at bay the geographical handicap and that people believed we weren’t a mere band. However, there comes a time when the greatest change has to occur, in order to evolve even more. This is the time for TSO’s members to fly elsewhere and find other projects.
"To all of you who have supported us throughout our career, our most sincere gratitude. TSO’s official site, facebook, myspace and other channels will continue to be updated with reviews to our latest album and the merchandise section will still be active.

Moribund Records has announced the signing of Pennsylvania black metal act, Pact. Moribund will release the band's debut "The Dragon Lineage of Satan" early next year. A release date will be announced shortly.
Comprised of guitarist Wretch, vocalist Hag and T on drums, the six (666)-year old band describes its music, "Our music is driven by the forces of chaos and death. It has seemed to us, as a band, that religion is a disease that plagued the earth by keeping people locked in the position of follower. We have always rebelled against this, and therefore play black metal infused with occult philosophy and power. Among the philosophies and traditions practiced are Golden Dawn, Germanic, and chaos magick - also the philosophies of Nietzsche and Kant, as well as the poetry of Blake, Crowley, and Baudblaire. Our ultimate goal is to cause change!"
The group further relates, "PACT is a vehicle for occult magick - a source of whirling chaotic energies and manifestations of the augoeides or higher creative genius. We proudly embrace the spirit of Satan and carry with us the divine fire of Lucifer. We are very pleased to represent the mighty MORIBUND Cult."
Texan electronic metallers The Browning have released a new music video for the track "Bloodlust," which is taken from the band's forthcoming debut album, "Burn This World." Marios and Antony of Nightrage have checked in with the a track-by-track breakdown of the band's new album "Insidious." You can check out Metalunderground.com's review here, or read the band's description below:
"So Far Away: This would be part one of three instrumental tracks for the album. Short and to the point. Reminds me of a triumphant funeral dirge. Marios' trademark guitar melodies all over the place on this one.
"Delirium of The Fallen: This is a bit different for the band as an opening song. We have always in the past had the typical 'blast beat' type song open the album. We tried to go in a different direction here. This song kind of has it all. Crazy solos from Marios and Olof, an emotional vocal section by Apollo from Firewind, and a very catchy chorus.
"Insidious: This is for me the best song I've ever done. Not only is it heavy as hell, but Tomas Lindberg recorded and sang vocal melodies and lyrics I wrote. A true honor and a great friend to the band. The song as a whole never stops destroying everything in its path.
"Wrapped In Deceitful Dreams: Another catchy chorus type song. Gus G shreds along with Marios on this one. Tom from Evergrey laid down a clean section for this one. The original way was just a spoken word from me. Marios then had an amazing idea in the studio for Tom to take the lyrics and basically freestyle. It took the man five minutes to lay down these amazing vocals! The one thing I wanted as a singer to change on this record were the clean vocals. I had done my thing on wearing a Martyr's Crown, and this time I felt the need of a new flavor.
"Hate Turns Black: This is one of the first songs we wrote for this record. To me this song takes you on a great ride. Very old school Gothenburg feel in the pre chorus and a traditional metal feel on the rest. This is Nightrage to the bone. More...

September 14th through the 17th marked the 12th year for the ProgPower USA festival, which has become the United States’ premier multi-day heavy metal festival over that time. I was on site for three of the days, and I've published photos taken during each band’s set. The photos are sorted by the three dates: Kick-Off Day, Day One, and Day Two.
This year, the festival headliner was Therion, backed by the reunited Sanctuary (featuring Warrell Dane and Jim Sheppard of Nevermore,) former Emperor front-man Ihsahn, Swedish melodic titans Evergrey, and 12 other comparable acts: Haken, Powerglove, Vanden Plas, Creation's End, Darkwater, Eldritch, Mob Rules, Voyager, Forbidden, Labyrinth, Red Circuit, and While Heaven Wept. Day-by-day show write-ups of the Kick-Off Day, Day One, and Day Two are also available. During the festival, I got to conduct interviews with Evergrey, Darkwater, Haken, Red Circuit, Powerglove, Creation’s End, and Leprous, which was Ihsahn’s backing band for his US solo project debut.
I'm still relatively young, but I had been longing to attend this mythical annual festival ever since I heard about it in news reports six or seven years ago while attending high school. In that sense, it was an event seven years in the making for me, confirming my faith in metal and opening my eyes to even more bands that I hadn't known about back then. Moreover, where else can you hear top tier musicians discuss other top tier musicians as they walk through the crowd like they hadn't just melted your face on stage an hour before?
It was a weekend to remember, and from what I've heard, next year promises to be just as ass-kicking, with Symphony X and Epica headlining the 2012 roster.
