With members hailing from Massachusetts and Rhode Island, death metal band Scalpel is back with a couple of new songs from its upcoming debut full-length "Sorrow and Skin." Below is an upload of "Sentinels of Severed Flesh," plus you can hear the track "Ripe" at this location. "Sorrow and Skin" should be released in November via Anopsys Records. The Finnish bards in Korpiklaani didn't waste any down time after the release of 2011's "Ukon Wacka," having returned already with latest full-length album "Manala" (reviewed here). Rather than playing the language ping-pong game of previous efforts, Korpiklaani has now given fans the best of both worlds, releasing the album as a double-disc set with all songs in both Finnish and English.
During a recent chat with Metalunderground, Korpiklaani's Jarkko Aaltonen explained why the band chose to go that route, as well as discussing the lack of a hard-partying song this time around as the band explores its darker side. More...
Frank Tosi, the driving force behind New York’s DesDemon, has resurrected his band Metadox after the demise of DesDemon and also announced an open call for a vocalist.
Originally established in 2001, Metadox signed with Metal Mayhem Music and opened for the likes of Dragonforce, Kamelot, and Moonspell. The band then imploded prematurely during studio recording sessions in 2006.
Frank Tosi comments, “Metadox deserved a lot more than what was afforded at the time. I'm a little older now, I have more knowledge, contacts, and I'm a much better musician now. As much as I will always love and cherish the good points of what DesDemon became, I know Metadox will be much more appealing to a broader spectrum of metal fans.
"Metadox is currently holding vocalist auditions globally. If interested and have the passion and the vocal range similar to: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, King Diamond, Huntress, Slayer, or Firewind, then contact us. We are looking for someone who is seasoned, dedicated, have similar interests, able to front a band, and write quality lyrics. Provide some information about yourself, any audio, video, or EPK links."
Interested parties can contact Frank Tosi at Auditions@MetadoxMetal.com. Metadox will be revamping existing material and writing new music for pre-production on a debut release. More details on Metadox can be found at this location.

This tongue and cheek poke at the Van Halen classic, humorously renamed 'Get It Up,' is part of Sylencer's latest release "A Lethal Dose of Truth." The track also features Dethklok mainman Brendon Small on lead guitar. Check out the song through the player available below.
Hoglan, who is currently on tour with Testament, is slated to join Brendon Small and the rest of Dethklok for their upcoming north American tour that kicks off in Norfolk, VA on October 30th.

A split 7" between Spawn of Satan and Sathanas will see release this coming October 10th through Hell's Headbangers. Music from the release can be heard in the player below, and the following press release was issued about the split:
"This split 7" celebrates ancient Evil Death Metal from America, from two of its most unsung hordes. Spawned into evil in 1988, Sathanas are one of the oldest American blackened death cults, and their track here - 'Unholy Eternal/ - proves that this power-trio will never waver from their 'no compromises' approach.
"Equally uncompromising, Jim Sadist's pet monster Spawn of Satan returns after a four-year hiatus with 'Ritual Murder,' a track written in 1988 yet showcasing what's to come from these minions. America the ugly...America the EVIL!" More...
Yurei's "Night Vision" follows 2010's "Working Class Demon" and is set for release on October 29th, 2012 via Adversum. The artwork and track listing can be viewed below, and the following press release was also issued:
"Building on the same expression as that first album and venturing further into the weird, Yurei's Night Vision takes it all so much further and travels into a landscape of his own: twisted, progressive, Lynchian tracks with hectic Balkan-inspired outbursts going off inside the dissonant but still melancholic and driven rock.
"This is night music interpreted by of one of Norway's most gifted composers: all music is written, performed, and recorded by Bjeima, a multi-talented musician working with several groups, all of them in different ways stemming from or building upon Norwegian avant-rock or post-black metal mindset and instrumentation, from playing bass in Virus to being the sole creator and performer in Alfa Obscura and The Ghost Conspiracy as well as Yurei and also being the drummer and a key contributor in -M-, Swarms, and Delirium Bound."

The Very End's third album "Turn Off The World" has been scheduled for release on November 27th in North America, and the following press release was issued:
"Thanks to a band who have grown even stronger after two line-up changes, their metal doesn't shine on Turn Off The World, but comes across like a jagged, yet razor-sharp blade. Along with vocalist Björn Gooßes, guitarist René Bogdanski and bassist Marc Beste, the two new additions Alex Bartkowski (guitars, ex-Guerrilla) and Daniel Zeman (drums, Enemy Of The Sun) have been vital in perfecting The Very End's typical mix of hard riffs, ferocious grooves and melodic passages.
"Thrash numbers such as 'Iron Sky' stand side by side with epic wrecking-ball tracks along the lines of 'To Feed On Hope' and melancholy titles like 'Maelstrom Calling.' The band reenlisted the producer/sound engineer team of Waldemar Sorychta and Dennis Koehne, who worked on their 2011 release Mercy & Misery."
The album's track listing is as follows:
2. Iron Sky
4. The Black Fix
5. Maelstrom Calling
6. Sixes And Nines

The release date for the Swedish metal band Arsenite's debut album "Ashes of the Declined" has now been announced for November 1st.
The album will be released through Sliptrick Records, with artwork handled by artist Andrej Bartulovic. The bands first music video for the song "Stopping at Nothing" has now been posted online and can be viewed below.
After the release of the new video clip for "The Things We Believe In," German power metal act Orden Ogan now gives insight on the filming process with a behind the scenes clip. Check out the footage below.
“Filming the clip with Rainer 'ZIPP' Fränzen and his company was hard work but also a lot of fun. Even though some band members suffered from a heavy cold, we gave our best, and so the whole crew did. It was an unforgettable session and we are very happy with how the clip turned out in the end," Orden Ogan vocalist Seeb comments. The band's new album “To The End” will be released on October 26th.
Hell's Headbangers has announced the vinyl release date for Bestial Warlust's "Satan's Fist - Demo '96" (also to be released on limited-edition CD) as October 31st. The following press release was also issued:
"Unearthed from the vault, one of the rarest entries in the Bestial Warlust canon: Satan's Fist - Demo '96, the legendary band's final longer-form recording. With K.K. Warslut having gone on to Destroyer666 and Damon Bloodstorm to Abmoniator, the pared-down Bestial Warlust were at a crucial juncture in 1996, with Skullfucker on vocals/guitars and Hellcunt on drums. Between the two of them, however, the three songs they'd record for Satan's Fist - essentially, their 1996 demo - sound just as potent as anything on their two classic, influential full-lengths.
"Here, the bestial black metal they helped pioneer is tempered with a sort of gritty epicness, displaying both where Bestial Warlust were coming from and, more so, where they could have gone. But with a track on a four-way split to follow a year later, the lid would then be sealed on Bestial Warlust's coffin...until now! To be released on a limited-edition CD and 12" vinyl mastered at 45 RPM and with laser-etched B-side: feel Satan's Fist!"
Samples from the release can be streamed below, and the track listing is:
1. Left for Vultures
2. Hell's Militia
3. Satan's Fist More...

Dutch act Herder will release new album "Horror Vacui" this coming November through Reflections Records, and pre-orders are now available right here. The label also commented:
"The possible survivors of the smoldering crater that the Herder debut album left after impact, are now completely finished off with a furious death stab to the neck. No mercy, no positivity, no sobriety. Only the strong will be left standing, the rest will have their throats ripped out.
"Filth ridden bass, crushing triple guitars, thunderous hammering drums and genuinely pissed off vocals lay down the soundtrack for prison shanking, bar brawls, heavy smoking and lizard night drives at high speed! Lock up your wives, daughters, and well, your dogs too just to be sure. 'Horror Vacui' is the new weapon against human morale and it fucking destroys! FOAD - HERDER IS HARDER!"

Polish black / death kings Behemoth will support German heavyweights Rammstein on their June 4th, 2013 show at Impactfest in Warsaw, Poland.
Commented Behemoth's frontman Nergal: "A few months ago my friends from Deathstars have supported the concert in Ergo Arena, I was jealous… Today on behalf of Behemoth I may proudly announce that we will share the stage with the one of the most important worldwide rock bands: Rammstein.
"It’s going to be the first show in Poland that we’ll play after the long time and it is already now more than likely that we present the brand new songs that we’re now strongly working on. And – special thanx to Steven and Live Nation Poland for reliance. We worked together on Big 4 on Bemowo and we’re looking forward to meet them again. It’s an honour!"
Nergal will also be releasing an autobiography after his bout with leukemia titled "Sacrum Profanum." The latest teaser trailer for the release can be found at this location.
The seventh of eight installments has now been posted online featuring Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson from Norway's Enslaved offering insight on the tracks to the band's twelfth studio album, "RIITIIR" (reviewed here), due out in Europe on September 28th.
Bjørnson on track #7, “Storm Of Memories:”
“Alright, much like ENSLAVED’s career, this song could be described with the sports term ‘a working victory’ (it might surprise some that we didn't get where we are just because of our strikingly good looks and a talented costume designer). It was the first song to be written for this album but the last one to fall into place completely. Obviously, I'm talking about the first section of the song - the second half is more ‘normal ENSLAVED’ (okay, that is funny) and it more or less worked itself out during the rehearsal sessions. On the other hand, I wasn't completely getting the right atmosphere from the first rounds of the band adding their instruments in the studio on the first part: the demos from the previous year still had more of a ‘vibe’ to them than we were getting in the studio. Norwegian black metallers Crest of Darkness announced a change in lineup that sees the departure of Kjell Arne Hubred after a seven year stint with the band. His replacement will be Djevelkult guitarist Jan Fredrik Solheim. Founder and frontman Ingar Amlien commented on the departure:
"It’s sad to be saying goodbye to Kjell Arne after all this time, but he has a young family and with Crest of Darkness intending to work harder than ever, it was too difficult for him to devote the amount of time to the band that would be needed, and that’s something we understand. We’ve been very lucky in finding Jan Fredrik to replace him. He’s young, talented, highly motivated and has plenty of ambition. We’ve rehearsed with him several times and it was obvious that he knew Crest of Darkness' music long before he joined us.
"With the release of our new album imminent, he has brought a renewed sense of enthusiasm and purpose to the band, and as far as I’m concerned we’re sounding better and stronger than ever."
The band's latest release was the 2007 LP "Give Us the Power to Do Your Evil."
Belgian act Gorath has announced the band's new album will be titled "The Chronicles of Khiliasmos," and the album is set for release on digisleeve CD (2012) and double gatefold LP (2013) through ConSouling Sounds.

Dir En Grey has issued the following announcement about releasing a new single, which will also feature a remix by the musician behind the Silent Hill games:
"This staggering track that could purify even the deepest of resentments is finally here. Since the release of 8th album 'DUM SPIRO SPERO,' the band went into hiatus following a vigorous touring schedule in Japan and abroad, and now a year and a half since their last single release, they are back with 'RINKAKU' which will hit stores this December 19, 2012.
"The track is unlike anything you have heard before, almost overturning the band's musical concept on a new scale, coming in with a range full of depth with Kyo's vocals that evoke classical elements in this beautiful and intricate melodic track which builds up dramatically with the intertwining guitars and bass.
"The new single from Dir En Grey will be released with two tracks which will include a new rendition of 'Kiri to Mayu' previously released on the album 'MISSA' (25.07.1997) and a remix of 'RINKAKU' by famed sound designer of horror game series 'Silent Hill,' Akira Yamaoka. Once again Tue Madsen came on as the Mix Engineer for this release after lending his unrivaled expertise on 'DUM SPIRO SPERO.'"
Pre-order details on the single are available at this location.

Omnium Gatherum, which is currently in the mixing process with the mighty Dan Swanö for an upcoming new album, is proud to announce Erkki Silvennoinen as the band's new bass player. Omnium Gatherum comments:
"We're glad to finally make it official and announce that OG is a real 6-piece troop again - we welcome Erkki Silvennoinen as a new bass player to Omnium Gatherum. Erkki is a die-hard pro dude with a warm nice attitude, just the way we like it, and we know him well from sharing same stages than us since almost ten years ago. He used to play in Amoral as well as in Finnish Idols winner Ari Koivunen's band back in the day. At the moment he is also playing in awesome brutal tech death metal band De Lirium's Order."
Here's what Erkki has to say about his new vocation: "I'm very excited to join Omnium Gatherum. I already know most of the guys from way back when I was playing warm-up gigs for them. I have seen them grow and evolve into the tight unit they are today and hire Jukka as their front-man, who also happens to be one of my best friends. It's an honor to get to play with such talented musicians. The previous bass players have left some big shoes to fill... I hope they fit."
The currently untitled follow-up to Omnium Gatherum's "New World Shadows" is set to be released on February 25th, 2013 in Europe and February 26th, 2013 in North America.
German progressive metal band Beyond the Bridge announced the devastating loss of keyboardist/guitarist Simon Oberender today. The cause of death was not announced. Less than two weeks ago, Oberender performed with the band at ProgPower USA in Atlanta as part of the band's first ever performance in the United States (a review of the performance can be found at this location). His contributions as both a musician and a producer on the band's debut LP "The Old Man and the Spirit" will be everlasting (see Metal Underground.com's review at this location).
Oberender was also a member of Amanda Somerville's project Trillium as keyboardist. His other contributions included: organist for Avantasia ("The Angel of Babylon" and "Wicked Symphony"), organist for Edguy ("Age of the Joker"), Gregorian vocals for Epica ("Requiem for the Indifferent"), choir vocals for Rhapsody of Fire ("The Frozen Tears of Angels" and "The Cold Embrace of Fear") and he also took part in the "Silverthorn choir" as part of Kamelot's forthcoming LP "Silverthorn."
