Invisible Oranges has presented the premiere of a new Behold The Arctopus track titled "Horrorsentience." Give the song a listen at this location. "Horrorsentience" is the almost (but not quite) title track off Behold The Arctopus' second full-length, "Horrorscension," set for an October 23rd release on Black Market Activities.
"Horrorscension" marks the debut of new Behold The Arctopus drummer Weasel Walter, a multi-instrumentalist known for his work under the name The Flying Luttenbachers and his widespread collaborations across the free jazz, noise, and metal genres. Walter joins founding members Colin Marston (12-string Warr guitar) and Mike Lerner (guitar). Marston is also a member of Krallice, Gorguts, and Dysrhythmia, as well as a recording engineer whose recent credits include Kayo Dot, Jarboe, and Altar of Plagues.
"Horrorscension" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Marston at his The Thousand Caves studio in Queens, NY. The cover art is by longtime collaborator Terry Grow. Pre-orders are now available right here.
Pitchfork has premiered the first track off Aluk Todolo's new album, "Occult Rock." Simply titled "Occult Rock V," the track can be streamed right here.
A double-CD digipak totalling 85 minutes between its two discs, "Occult Rock" is Aluk Todolo's third full-length to date. The Ajna Offensive will handle the album's release in North America, while Norma Evangelium Diaboli will do the honors in Europe. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Consisting of eight hypnotic tracks of timeless and unclassifiable instrumental music, this quintessential double-album summarizes and transcends all preceding aspects of the band's discography and offers new insight into the fundamental principles and formulas of Aluk Todolo, permeating through other forms and resulting in an ultimate entheogenic ceremony.
"The production takes the side of fidelity in the transcription of the power-trio's live energy and osmosis, revealing the individuality and roughness of each instrument and emphasizing the inter-penetration of all the components of an organic and tetanizing trance ritual. This opus recounts the alchemical transformation of the primordial vibration into matter, through all its elemental phases, leading to the sonic manifestation of the forces of the universe into the octagonal prism of Occult Rock.
"In recent years, Aluk Todolo has developed into an intense and dynamic live band. The French power-trio has previously done a tour of the American East Coast in 2009, Southern Europe in 2010, and Northern Europe in 2011. They have opened for German kraut-rock pioneers Faust in New York in 2009, and have been invited by SUNN O))) to play the Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands in 2011 and to open for them again in 2012."

Standby Records announces today the signing of Cleveland modern metal band Along Came A Spider. A video announcement of the signing can be viewed below, and the "If We Were Normal Men" album is slated for release on October 30th. Standby Records also commented:
"Formed at the end of 2009 by guitarist Justin Sobota, Along Came A Spider has spent the last few years developing a lineup that featured the talent at each position in the band needed to reach further than the small confines of the Ohio metal community. Like so many bands signed to Standby Records, CEO Neil Sheehan was drawn to the band not only by their brilliant sound which has been compared to acts like A Day To Remember, In Fear And Faith and Bless The Fall, but also to the band's proven drive to succeed in a business that has gobbled up and spit out so many other bands of lesser work ethic."
"Along Came A Spider gets it," adds Neil Sheehan. "This is a band that understands that the songs are only one piece of the puzzle, but that the work they will have to do will make the difference between their success and failure. Clearly the band has already proven that kind of work ethic. They have self funded everything in their career to this point, including two tours and the recording of their soon to be released album If We Were Normal Men. Regarding the title of the new album, it has significance to the band's members, who named the album to indicate the band's feeling about their desire and skills." More...
Beefy funny man, Billy Milano once said “Skinheads and bangers and punks stand as one Crossover to a final scene.” This insight he offered on S.O.D.’s 1985 release “Speak English or Die” would serve as a rallying cry for hardcore punks and metal heads to come together. Not only did this song help create a mindset for bringing together two scenes; it also constructed a formula for the two styles to merge. Known simply as metalcore or crossover, the term came to describe how hardcore bands added metal’s solos and heft to their arrangements, while thrash absorbed the speed, attitude and brevity of hardcore to their compositions.
Milano also claimed “It’s not the way you wear your hair, it’s what’s inside of you.” Even though these words ring true twenty-seven years after publication, and so often we see the two lines blurring together, hair styles have pretty much remained the same (minus poodle hair and mullets). Short hair, often bald or spiky, is still relegated to punks, while long hair is a feature of head bangers. Regardless of attitude and opposition to the mainstream, many punks and metal heads prefer to segregate.
After hearing an inspiring hardcore/crossover album from "The Casualties" and attending festivals such as Fun Fun Fun Fest and Chaos in Tejas that mesh metal and hardcore in the last year, I felt the need to research and write an article on the history of this topic. Through the usual resource of the Internet, Ian Christe’s book “Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal” and a first person source, I hope to shed light on this phenomenon. In the following article, we will look at the interchangeable qualities of punk and metal, as well as delving into each style’s social constraints. We will look at the bands that started this movement and analyze how the art form has evolved. Ready yourself for a crash course on punk-thrash crossover movement. More...

Fredericton's showing, with a jam packed venue, went off without a hitch.

Showcasing genre-blending versatility, this is forward-thinking music that combines the percussive riffing and crushing precision of death metal, served with a brutal metal core edge. The album features Mr. Tony 'Demolition Man' Dolan (Atomkraft, Venom, Mpire of Evil) as special guest on vocals and Mr. Simone Mularoni (Empyrios, DGM) as special guest on lead guitar."

Chicago-based mob Doomsday has completed a debut album and plans to disburse the filth to the public on the band’s own label this Fall, in conjunction with a throng of tour dates across the Midwest and Eastern U.S.
Doomsday’s obviously apocalyptic vision has been several years in the making conceptually. An idea birthed between guitarist Jeff Wilson (Wolvhammer, Chrome Waves, ex-Nachtmystium), guitarist/vocalist Jon Necromancer (Bones, ex-Usurper, ex-Nachtmystium), and drummer Zack Simmons (Goatwhore, ex-Nachtmystium), the trio recruited vocalist Zion Meagher (Anti-Human Thesis, ex-Forest Of Impaled, ex-Nachtmystium) and bassist Bob Fouts (The Gates of Slumber, Chrome Waves, Apostle Of Solitude) to round out the lineup.
After months of writing and planning, their individual schedules finally allowed the five members of Doomsday to amalgamate in the studio to create their debut offering. Converging in their hometown the crew hammered out six tracks in six days in December 2011, the brutally direct hymns engineered by Sanford Parker (Nachtmystium, Twilight, Circle of Animals) and Carl Byers (Coffinworm). The result: a twenty-one minute low-end blackened death-crust assault compiled as the outfit’s self-titled debut, now set for release on guitarist Jeff Wilson’s newly founded Disorder Recordings on November 6th. Artillery has announced that singer Soren Nico Adamsen has left the band in a message on the band's Facebook page:
"Singer Søren Adamsen has decided to leave Artillery for personal reasons. We would like to say thanks for the last 5 years and wish him good luck in the future! The new singer will be Michael Bastholm Dahl. Michael has already played two successful gigs with Artillery in Denmark."
Here in Michael's own words is his statement about joining Artillery:
"One thing I do know - I have been given the opportunity to join the most hard-hitting legendary thrash metal band of all time out of Denmark, which means, I'm going to go out and be the most frantic and hard singing vocalist I can be! And, following the renowned singers prior to me in Artillerys history, it's both a daunting and exciting challenge! I can't freakin' wait to go out and give it 100% together with the guys in Artillery!"
The band goes on to state the following:
"Michael sings and performs with a lot of attitude and really likes the Artillery thrashing style. He will contribute with his own style, but he can sing the classic Artillery songs very close to the original singer and also deliver the hard hitting vocals like Søren did! Just listen to the classic song 'The Almighty' with Michael Bastholm Dahl on vocals, the first song he ever did with Artillery. The song is recorded at Medley studio with producer Søren Andersen." New York death metal veterans Dehumanized recently inked a multi-album contract with US record label Comatose Music. "Controlled Elite" will be the title of the new Dehumanized album scheduled for world wide release on November 27th via Comatose Music. "All of us in Dehumanized are extremely excited to be a part of Comatose Music and 2013 is going to be the year to remember for all fans of Dehumanized," says George Torres, drummer and founding member. "We want to spread this new album like the plague!"
"Controlled Elite" picks up right where "Prophecies Foretold" left off over 14 years ago with plenty of old school NYC style grooves. Comatose Music's Steve Green has this to say about the upcoming release: "Being a long-time fan of Dehumanized I am absolutely honored to be working with these guys. This new album is crushing and proves that Dehumanized is back with a vengeance!" "Controlled Elite" was recorded at Full Force Studio in Long Island, NY and engineered by Joe Cincotta. Stay tuned for more album details, track listing and artwork.
