Finland's Adamantra has issued the following announcement about parting ways with vocalist Tuomas Nieminen:
"An era has come to its end, as lead vocalist Tuomas Nieminen discontinues his duties in Adamantra. Although feeling a bit blue now, we intend to look forward. This decision has not been easy, but we feel it to be the right one nonetheless. Since day one, Tuomas has trodden a long road with us - now our paths separate for a fresh start. Tuomas is up there with the very best of Finland's heavy metal vocalists, and we wish him nothing but the best in life and his musical journey. We are now hoping to swiftly discover a new vocalist, in order to wrap up the upcoming album.
"Right now, it is time to turn a new page of Adamantra history with a new lead vocalist. That position is now open - everyone who feels himself worthy to fill Tuomas' formidable boots can apply. Three tracks from the upcoming Adamantra album can be heard at Mikseri. Sample audition material can be sent to email@example.com.
"Adamantra's debut album 'Revival' was released in 2009, receiving considerable acclaim from the prog metal audience and critics alike. Led by producer Mikko P. Mustonen at Pathos Music Studio, the band is currently working on its next full-length release."

It’s more often the exception that international acts find they have a fan base in the United States, although it’s happening more and more. Luckily for Sweden’s Darkwater, they had a crowd of cheering fans to play for upon crossing the pond for ProgPower USA XII. On the first official day of the festival, Darkwater had the second spot on the bill.
Somewhere amid the chaos of that first day’s scheduling issues, lead vocalist/guitarist Henrik Båth found a few minutes to break away for a short interview. The band was particularly swamped during their signing session. Henrik almost lost his voice from his stage performance and yelling over the crowd during the signing session. We got to discuss the band’s first two dark melody-filled records as well as Henrik’s gear, influences, and busy life back home in Sweden. More...
In 1985, Bret Michaels (vocals), Rikki Rockett (drums), Bobby Dall (bass), and Matt Smith (guitar) set out for the Los Angeles Sunset Strip, determined to make it as the next big hair band. Initially, the band struggled to survive; Matt Smith specifically couldn't handle the poverty and left for back East. During this time Bret Michaels states that his only possession was a toothbrush. Behind The Music: One Toothbrush and Six Bandanas -- The Bret Michaels Story.
With Smith's departure, the band started looking for a new guitarist. In the end their search came down to C.C. DeVille and Slash. Slash was clearly the better guitar player, but C.C. had that over the top glam look the band coveted. This decision would end up being one of the most significant events in eighties heavy metal music. Not only was C.C. the right pick for Poison, but not taking Slash off the market proved to be more important, keeping the door open for him to join Guns N' Roses just months later.
The release of their first album, "Look What The Cat Dragged In," would introduce the world to this glam foursome. The cover would also lead to several debates. First, were these in fact men? After establishing that yes, in fact, these are men, the discussion would turn to which was the prettiest of the group? Most of the time it was Rikki Rockett edging out Bret Michaels in the beauty contest. I believe the amount of eye shadow Rikki used had a direct impact on this outcome. Often lost in judging this book by its cover was how hard the band worked to promote their shows and the dedication to their fans. They were the second wave of “hair bands” and there were hundreds trying to be part of this group. The foursome was relentless in getting friends, fans, and others to attend their shows and promote Poison. More...
