Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress). The nine-track album will see an early 2011 release date. Additional album details will be made available shortly. Obscura's Steffen Kummerer issued the following update from the studio:
"Although we recorded again with our long time friend and producer V. Santura in the Woodshed Studios, the studio sessions were hard work and lots of sweat. It was for the best though since Omnivium is definitely the next step for this band.
"Christian (Muenzer – guitar) recorded some outstanding solos with a new 8 finger tapping technique, Jeroen (Paul Thesseling – bass) brought his own stamp of fretless tone into the mix again, and Hannes (Grossmann - drums) recorded his heaviest session to date and broke through the 260 bpm line. Everyone brought lots of great ideas to the table and made Omnivium a truly collaborative band effort. Omnivium sounds solely like Obscura, and brings us a step closer to reaching our unique vision of progressive death metal."

New York hardcore act Sick Of It All has issued the following announcement about changes to the band's upcoming tour dates:
"FYI, there's been some changes to the Persistence tour line-up for Europe in December. Unfortunately, Sepultura backed out of doing it, but we do have an awesome band filling in for them: D.R.I. - the original thrash band who taught everyone (including us) how it's done.
"The tour also now has Casey Jones and Cruel Hand added to the bill, who are both making waves in the hardcore scene and no doubt will set it off. It's a massive line up - just remember to save some of your strength for the headliner, OK? ;-)
"The venue for the December 11 show has been changed to RWE Halle in Mulheim ad Ruhr, Germany. Don't forget to come out for the New York United tour in October featuring Sick of it All and Madball. It's gonna steamroll Europe!"

Virginia's Arsis has announced a run headlining U.S. tour dates in December. "A Tour for the Sick" is presented by MetalInjection.net and will include Powerglove and Conducting From The Grave. Arsis vocalist/guitarist Jim Malone commented:
"What does a band that is notorious for canceling tours, video game induced tendinitis, and a Noah Martin look-a-like all have in common? If you have spent the better part of your existence trying to play 16th triplet arpeggios at 250 bpm you will probably be overcome with joy (or something) to hear that we (meaning Arsis dudes), Powerglove, and Conducting From The Grave are teaming up for a US tour this December. We are beyond stoked for our first headlining tour in support of Starve for the Devil and hope to see you at one (or more) of the tour dates. We promise to 'turn up the hell' on this one and make your weekend (or week night) one that is 'rock hard' and metalificated."

"As you may already know, De Profundis is about to tour India next month in order to promote the band’s new album 'A Bleak Reflection,' which has been released there by Sony BMG earlier this year. This will mark the band’s return to India since our performance alongside Iron Maiden at Rock in India Festival 2009.
"As part of the tour, De Profundis will be the main support act at Great Indian OctoberFest 2010 in Bangalore, performing just before festival headliners Lacuna Coil on Sunday 24th October 2010. We are really looking forward to playing at this amazing festival alongside some excellent Indian metal bands such as Kryptos (with whom we shared the stage at Rock in India ‘09). It will be interesting to play at the same event as several major Bollywood singers – I imagine all those not familiar with De Profundis will be in for quite a shock – or should that be 'total sonic annihilation'?! Either way, we’re working hard to prepare a very special set for our Indian fans.

Biggest metal band in the world, good friends and a 4 hour road trip – what more is needed? After pressure from a Facebook group of all things, Metallica decided to head down south for two dates on the final leg of the “World Magnetic Tour” in Christchurch, New Zealand, and I went to see what breath was left in the great four horsemen.
Supporting acts for the night were Christchurch locals Tainted, Texan band The Sword and metal luminaries Fear Factory. For the normal reasons (meeting people, searching for alcohol, parking, travel etc.), we turned up part way into the show when The Sword was just closing, so it's unfortunate I can't comment on the first two bands much. I've seen Tainted several times now (who plays a modern brand of Lamb of God styled groove metal), so I wasn't too disappointed there, but from what I heard from others, The Sword subdued a baying Metallica crowd well enough, taking the stage with "Hey... we're The Sword" and then blasting out some tunes. Although being located in the least favourable part of Vancouver, the Rickshaw Theater has quickly become one of the city’s top venues for all things metal. Countless bands from all genres and areas of the underground have been congregating at the small theater on Vancouver’s famed “Downtown Eastside,” treating the city to a wide range of different metal sounds. On Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 the Rickshaw played home to one of Europe’s top dark metal acts in Katatonia along with other international metallers Swallow the Sun (Finland) and Orphaned Land (Israel). The crowd, while not sold out, was highly anticipating Katatonia’s first ever appearance in the city and once the lengthy show came to an end they surely left satisfied. More...
