Blabbermouth reports James Rivera (Helstar, Vicious Rumors, Flotsam and Jetsam) has left Seven Witches. Rivera posted the following statement:
"Some of you may be aware through online media that ARMORED SAINT has announced three confirmed shows in the Northeastern U.S. with SEVEN WITCHES as a support band.
"To avoid any confusion, I would like to make it clear that I will not be performing with SEVEN WITCHES. In fact, I have chosen to no longer be a part of this band due to circumstances beyond my control. I tried my best to get things going in the right direction for SEVEN WITCHES, although the powers that be did not see it the same way and have decided to go out and represent the new SEVEN WITCHES record with a whole different lineup again already.
"I'm more than positive the long-anticipated return of ARMORED SAINT will be well worth the wait. As for the fans who have been looking forward to the SEVEN WITCHES lineup with me back in the picture, my deepest apologies go out to you.
"In related news, I am working on booking some dates in Europe with my tribute band, SABBATH JUDAS SABBATH, which will be billed as special shows performing a night of SEVEN WITCHES and METALSTEEL songs. Three gigs have been confirmed in November with others in the works. When all shows are finalized, the dates and locations will be announced."

Guitarist Toni Tieaho of Finnish act Crystalic has issued the following announcement about the band officially calling it a day:
"In my opinion last year with Crystalic has been a struggle. Having lack of rehearsing and no interest to get Crystalic move on, we started to have conflicts composing our new songs and in the studio. We all know already how the music business is, but when the band action starts to get like this, you can't get much out from it but eats away you little by little.
"1998-2011 is a damn long time, and I feel now it's time to move on and try something else, not quitting composing music! Every one of us is still making music with their own bands and we feel this is the best decision for Crystalic now.
"BIG THANK to all the fans who kept this alive for this long time!! I want to thank all the band members over time and wishing you good luck with music and life! ...still, never know if Crystalic will breath again one day, but now it's time to let it rest."
You can still also check out Crystalic's music by heading over to the band's official MySpace music profile.
If any band has gotten an unfair rap over the last few years, Rose Funeral would be at the top of the list. Maligned and tormented for the last album, “The Resting Sonata,” the deathcore act went through a well-publicized “Uno” incident and a line-up that revolved through members almost every month.
The death metal crowd turned their noses up at them, but the band is fighting for their attention with “Gates Of Punishment.” Guitar solos, symphonic ambience, and better incorporation of breakdowns may give the band the ability to appeal to both the deathcore and death metal audiences for the first time. I had the chance to speak to vocalist/guitarist Ryan Gardner about all the criticism Rose Funeral has gotten, pleasing the metal community, and taking over vocal duties for the band. More...

The five talented Norwegian lads backing Ihsahn at ProgPower USA had actually played at the previous year’s ProgPower already. Vocalist/keyboardist Einar Solberg, drummer Tobias Ørnes Andersen, bassist Rein Blomquist, guitarist Øystein Landsverk, and guitarist Tor Oddmund Suhrke comprise the daring anomaly known as Leprous. Now returning sophomores of the festival, the band found themselves playing a whirlwind of black and prog metal behind the former Emperor frontman.
In MetalUnderground.com’s previous interview with Leprous, we tackled their latest CD, “Bilateral (reviewed here,)” and the band’s connection to Ihsahn. Because we were at the ProgPower festival, I thought it’d be nice to pick the band’s collective brain about progressive music, music gear, and some other things. As we sat down at the Artmore hotel courtyard down the street from the venue, I could sense that the band was eager to get back on stage, having just played the night before. They were also quite eager to talk. The interview is below. More...
