U.K. jam band Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell is streaming its entire new debut full-length over at YouTube. The album, "Don't Hear It....Fear It!," amplifies on last year's EP and drives home that 70's sound in an incredible way, possibly taking pointers from Budgie by looking at the cover. The group named itself after the famous British naval officer from the 17th century. Below is an upload of the first track from the release, "Mark of the Beast." The band will be playing at the first ever Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats live London dates, the 23rd added after the 22nd sold out.

German melodic metallers Mob Rules are preparing for the release of their new single and video clip "Ice & Fire," to preceed the upcoming seventh studio album, "Cannibal Nation." The band comments:
"The clip was filmed with Ronald Matthes (Roax Film), who also did numerous Metal DVD and clip productions, like Avantasia, Pretty Maids, Iced Earth a.m.m. We decided to use 'Ice & Fire,' an atmospheric track, for the video and the clip will very much reflect a special mood. That's why we were filming outside, on a huge green field. But this bucolic ambience will not really be in the focus in the end. You will see soon..."

01. Close My Eyes
03. Tele Box Fool
04. Ice And Fire
05. Soldiers Of Fortune

When Sick Drummer Magazine released a statement about rumors and allegations pertaining to the Death To All tour that they organized, Death manager Eric Greif responded briefly saying he'd issue a "press release" on the matter as well. He has since issued the following statement:
It is with profound regret that I must clarify the reality of the Death To All Tour, now that rumors are in full swing and Sick Drummer Magazine has issued a statement at their zine. First, I must thank the musicians and crew for making this such a wondrous experience for the fans. The Schuldiners & I were tremendously proud of how much Chuck’s spirit was captured by these nine seasoned pros on stage. What events these five shows were! So it should be clear that, on the surface, Death To All was an awesome experience for me as a fan, as the former manager of Death, and as the person legally entrusted with guarding Chuck’s legacy.
I was approached by Anton Hefele of Grind Percussion LLC (who go by the business name Sick Drummer Magazine) with the enticing premise of he & his partner Ian Macdonald organizing such an historic tour, and I was asked to designate the charity of our choice. The Schuldiners & I endorse Sweet Relief (sweetrelief.org), so that was simple. I was assured by others whom I trusted that Sick Drummer was a legit organization and could pull the tour off. In fact, they themselves stated clearly that they had all contingencies sorted out to handle any & all tour outcomes, like any legit folks in the metal music business would. They guaranteed musician & crew salaries, worked the gig bookings out with The Pantheon Agency, and after some wrangling did a licensing contract with us at Perseverance Holdings Ltd. that would see compensation going to the Schuldiner family for the use of Chuck’s songs & the prestige of the Death name & logo. The biggest commitment they made, however, was that 20% of every ticket and merch item sold would go straight to Sweet Relief. This was the crux of why we’d allow this tour to happen under Chuck’s name.
I trusted in these two guys from Sick Drummer Magazine. So did Jane Schuldiner, Beth Schuldiner and Chris Steele. So did the musicians. So did the Death fans. After rocky negotiations produced an 11th hour contract, including their cancelling of shows in Atlanta and Dallas (that they had added after the first five), we still gave them the benefit of the doubt. I was on the entire tour and witnessed first hand the organizational confusion and the financial incompetence, as did every musician. Clearly I knew there was no way they would be able to afford all of what they were obligated to pay, even despite sold out venues and purchased merch flying out the door. The sharp pain of worry in my gut was only eased by the thought that they had promised they could handle any outcome. I was wrong.
I discovered within a month of the tour finishing that each musician, beyond a bit of cash given during the five dates, was handed a worthless check in Orlando, signifying most of their pay. I found that the same applied to the crew. Perseverance Holdings Ltd. was unpaid. The booking agency was unpaid. Worst of all: Sweet Relief didn’t get a single penny of the supposed ‘20% off the top’ that Sick Drummer had been touting.More...

After two years of aggressive touring, Maine's Last Chance To Reason will begin recording sophomore Prosthetic release (and third album overall) later this week at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, FL with Eyal Levi. This album sees the addition of Boston-based guitarist Mike Abdow, who joined the band last fall. An early 2013 release is expected.
Drummer Evan Sammons says, "We've been working on the new album diligently and now we're headed to Audiohammer to begin tracking with Eyal. We've been sending material to Eyal and talking about production techniques and ideas for the album's tone and things are really clicking. Touring with great bands over the past couple years has really inspired us to up the ante for this release. We've grown as songwriters and are embracing our strengths as musicians. We're doing a concept piece again and we'll be making sure the music and production suits the story."
Vocalist Michael Lessard added, "Having Eyal involved has been nothing short of excellent. He understands where we are going with the concept of this album and has only helped strengthen that vision."
This will be the follow-up to Last Chance to Reason's Prosthetic debut, "Level 2."

On the occasion of a well-deserved time-out in 2012/13, a testimonial of Hammerfall’s on-stage power in a DVD+2CD format will be released on November 30th. For this, the 135 minute long 15-year anniversary show that took place on the 28th of July on the historic open-air stage Dalhalla, built in an old quarry near the small Swedish village Rättvik, was captured on camera.
Oscar Dronjak comments: "The set contained 26 tracks and lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes, by far the longest and most comprehensive gig of our entire career! We played songs from every album and then some, there were lots of guests and pyros, and we had 80 Marshall cabinets and the big shield with the HF logo carved out in the middle hanging brought out of storage, all set in an extremely unique venue. You really have to see it to understand, this concert really captured the essence of HammerFall live in 2012 very well!"
Prominent guests included original Hammerfall line-up members Jesper Strömblad and Mikael Stanne, as well as ex-guitarist Stefan Elmgren, among others, which made the show unforgettable - also for the musicians themselves.
"Everything concerning this release is special: the venue, the occasion, the setlist, the guests. If you are going to celebrate something, do it properly, and this is exactly what we have done. Hammerfall with extra everything, 100% live, 0% bullshit," says Oscar. The show's set list is: More...

"We would like to thank Kolby for being a part of this project for the past 2 years and we encourage everyone to keep their eyes peeled for new projects coming from him in the future.
"We will be making announcements about filling his position in the near future, thanks for your support!"

Today, Noisey (Music by VICE) premieres the exclusive new video for Hexvessel's "His Portal Tomb." The song hails from Hexvessel's second and latest album, "No Holier Temple," released last week by Svart Records. "His Portal Tomb" was directed by Marja Konttinen for Brutal Gardener, with source material from "Lot In Sodom" (1933) by James Sibley Watson.
McNerney explains the concept behind the "His Portal Tomb" video: "Images and inscriptions on Egyptian coffins magically place the mummy of the deceased at the centre of a miniature version of the universe. The body as a way in and out of existence. The tomb as a portal. Our mortal prison, where we're to endure the wrath of god and the punishment of angels. Jude 1:7 records that both Sodom and Gomorrah were 'giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.' I wonder what the sarcophagus would tell us, if he could recall his life of earthly pleasures?" More...

Growing up on the game-changing melodic death metal music from Gothenburg, Sweden was very fun for me. However, growing up WITHIN the game-changing melodic death metal world of Gothenburg, Sweden must have been incredible. Such is Amaranthe's story. Evergrey, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, At The Gates, Soilwork, and other heavyweights took the genre to new heights and left in their wake a trail for others to follow and enhance. As I was about to learn, Amaranthe had come from this wake after entertaining ideas of starting a Gothenburg melodic death metal super-group.
It was Friday, September 14th, and in the middle of the afternoon at the Artmore hotel just down the street from ProgPower XIII venue Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia. Amaranthe was to go on stage in about an hour, but the band was very nice to agree to an interview in the courtyard of the hotel. Guitarist Olof Mörck and vocalist Jake E not only revealed the creation story of Amaranthe (originally Avalanche), but also details on the upcoming record, producing versus mixing, liver sandwiches, and actually being beaten up in their music video for "Hunger." Sweden's Beyond All Recognition posted a preview featuring clips from the entire debut album "Drop=Dead." The album is scheduled for a September 28, 2012 (EU) and October 10, 2012 (North American) release date through Napalm Records.
Check out the "Drop=Dead" preview here:
Stratovarius/Kotipelto frontman Timo Kotipelto will join forces with guitarist Jani Liimatainen (Ex-Sonata Arctica) for a studio album "Blackoustic." The duo has been working together and playing acoustic shows for a while and the idea of recording an acoustic album together came from the fans and so "Blackoustic" will see the light of day on October 19, 2012 through earMusic/Edel.
"The fans were recording our shows with their cell phones and the´ve been telling us that we should make an album, so they could have better quality recordings of the songs to listen at home. At first we were just joking about it, but after a while we thought 'Why not? As far as we know, not many people have done it before, at least not within the heavier music genre. Our initial idea was to make a self-financed album with a relatively small pressing and then just maybe sell them at our shows".
But instead of making it a "fan-club release" the duo has opted to work with the label earMUSIC/Edel, which also releases Stratovarius' work since the album "Polaris".
Most of the songs were chosen from the duo's live set-list, including familiar Stratovarius covers like "Black Diamond" and "Hunting High and Low", but also songs like "Serenity" and "Sleep Well" from Kotipelto's solo albums have been given the new acoustic treatment; proving that behind great heavy metal song, there's very often a stunning melody "screaming" to come out. Furthermore, the album includes beautiful cover versions of Pete Townshend's "Behind Blue Eyes" and Deep Purple´s classic "Perfect Strangers".
"Blackoustic" also features a brand new composition: "Where My Rainbow Ends", written by Jani Liimatainen, who commented: "I remembered a song I wrote last winter. Originally it was an instrumental track, but after listening back to it I thought that the melody would work very well with vocals. We re-arranged the song into our acoustic format and -- as a slave of habit -- I wrote the lyrics for it the night before our last day of recording. It turned out surprisingly beautiful and delicate". More...

Vocalist Eric Lee of Behold Oblivion has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band:
"To all of our fans, it is with great regret and sorrow that I write this to you now. The past few months have been one of the hardest times in my life, and the decisions I have had to make will weigh on me for the rest of my time on this Earth.
"I have decided, at this point in time, I cannot devote myself entirely to Behold Oblivion. I will not allow myself to be a part of the band without knowing that the entirety of my efforts would be concentrated on it, as it would not be fair to the band, and it would not be fair to you, our fans.
"The past 2 years have been some of the best times in my life, spent with 4 brothers who I love with every ounce of my being. I am stepping down for the time being as vocalist of Behold Oblivion. Please continue to follow us and support us, as the guys will continue on without me. I wish them the greatest of luck, and perhaps when the time is right, I will be able to return and share the stage with them once again.
"To our fans, to my brothers, I love you all. I owe you everything."
