UFC soundtrack band STEMM is set to drop a new groove metal album titled "Crossroads" (reviewed here) this coming September 13th, 2011. To let fans know what's in store on "Crossroads," vocalist/guitarist Joe Cafarella checked in with Metalunderground.com and dished on the album's writing process, what's going on with the lyrics this time around, and his thoughts on the different styles within metal.
Joe also went into detail about the recently released "Left Behind" video, which skewers the many trends in modern metal. He commented on the inspiration behind the clip, "We had the 'scene' fans pick on us, even labels and managers tell us what we needed to do. Even when we did try to make others happy, it wasn't good enough and we were still the 'outcast' band. 'A band without a core' to say... Looking back over the years, I'm happy to say that STEMM is still here, doing our own thing and evolving how we want to. STEMM is not some bi-product of a metal genre. We're a rock band." God Seed has announced the release of an upcoming "Live at Wacken" CD/DVD set on October 25th, 2011. Prosthetic Records commented on the release:
"The memorable performance by Gaahl and King at 2008's Wacken Open Air festival captusred in full! The performance was a reconstruction of Gorgoroth's controversial 2004 Black Mass show in Poland, which featured sheep heads on stakes, 'crucified' nude models, satanic symbols, and eighty liters of sheep's blood. The band came under fire for violating Polish anti-blasphemy laws as well as Polish animal rights laws, resulting in a police investigation with allegations of religious offense and cruelty to animals. The band was exonerated of all charges, and at Wacken 2008, they recreated this now legendary show in all its glory. This deluxe CD/DVD digipak includes liner notes from the band about the process of recreating this special show."
According to The Vancouver Sun newspaper, a 44-year-old Appleton, Wisconsin man was arrested on charges of unlawful use of computerized communication systems and disorderly conduct after requesting a Megadeth song via the chat room function on a Windsor, Ontario, Canada-based hard rock and metal Internet radio show.
Trevor Fenton and Pat Ryan, hosts of "The MeltDown Show" on HardRockRadioLive, were taking song requests on Tuesday afternoon when a listener logged into the station's chat room as, "Watch_The_National _new_tomorrow_ I_am_going _to_go _a_ shooting_spree_ in_Appleton_WI." The listener proceeded to ask the hosts to play the Megadeth track "Killing Is My Business . . . And Business Is Good", adding to his comment that it would be, "good music to go postal & kill a bunce of people to."
"We had to take that threat seriously, we couldn't ignore him. That was something we just couldn't ignore and not report," said host Pat Ryan. "It could have been a prank. But if he was serious and something happened, I wouldn't have been able to live with myself."
Fenton contacted the Appleton Police Department and helped an officer identify the man by tracking an IP address to a computer at a public library. Online court records indicate the same man was convicted in 2000 of two misdemeanor offenses involving unlawful use of computerized communication.
"I think you would have to agree that in the day and age we're living in, any time there are threats made like that we need to take them seriously," Appleton Police sergeant Pat DeWall said. "Even if this person doesn't have a violent past, you have to always assume the worst, and hope for the best."

Mare Cognitum, the one man black metal project from Jacob Buczarski, released "The Sea Which Has Become Known" on August 29th, 2011 through Severed Limb Records. A song from the album, titled "A Vain Lament," is now available for streaming online through Noisecreep.com at this location.
Buczarski commented on the track: "My lyrics are always written last after the song is in its final form. I simply listen to the finished track a few times and see what my imagination produces, usually a story or a character. I use this image to inspire lyrics, and often times I read over the final product and realize it does not seem to illustrate what I originally envisioned or that it came out much more vague.
"In the situation of 'A Vain Lament,' the lyrics involve one person's journey into a hypothetical afterlife where he is forced to finally stop to see the beauty of existence he had missed his entire life. I wrote this while particularly dismayed at the effect that things like constant advertising and commercialization have on the human mind, especially city dwellers like myself."

Brazilian female-fronted melodic metal band Shadowside is premiering the new music video for "Angel With Horns" exclusively on Metalunderground.com. "Angel With Horns" is off the band's third album, "Inner Monster Out," which was just released on August 30th via SHP Records. The music video was directed by Thiago Pinheiro of Studio Kaiowas.

"I don't think I've been this excited about one of our albums being released before! I can't wait for people to hear Inner Monster Out," added Nolden. "It is exactly what I've been looking for as a musician since day one. It's heavy, aggressive, yet very melodic and catchy, so I believe it will please both extreme and melodic metal fans, as well as our old fan base. I don't know how good it is for the world yet, but I sure know that I love it and I'm proud of what we’ve accomplished!"

American heavy metal veterans Stryper have announced that their next release will consist of re-recorded versions of fourteen of their classics, in addition to three brand new songs entitled, "Bleeding From Inside Out," "Blackened" and "How To Live." A Twitter message from Strper frontman Michael Sweet reads as follows:
"It might be best for me to stop Tweeting about the re-record since it seems to be confusing many people. Here's the facts...
"We're tracking 17 songs - 14 old classics, 3 brand new songs. We're doing the record in phases, a little at a time. It won't be mastered until January, which means it won't be available until sometime after that. January is not the release date.
"We're funding this ourselves so it's a tedious, time consuming task that we have to do in phases due to extensive touring and other things going on between now and the end of the year. So sorry for the confusion and it will be worth the wait!"

This week a look at Chickenfoot’s latest video, “Big Foot”.
The video starts off as every alcoholic’s nightmare. Waking up in a chicken coup, wearing a chicken costume. It’s an odd choice to drink out of the same water bucket as the other chickens, but then again, it’s probably a nasty hangover and any beverage will do at this point. More...
