Dead By Wednesday Splits With Guitarist

Due to personal reasons, guitarist Ross Ragusa has chosen to amicably part ways with Connecticut based metal band Dead by Wednesday.

Ross states, "I love my brothers in DBW, I wish them nothing but success, as they deserve it for the years of hard work they put into this project. This was the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life. But the road has done serious damage to my back and neck, so I need to step away to get healthy, pursue an education in music, and come out strong to become the musician I was born to be."

As hard as it was for the rest of the band to hear this, the show must go on, and the remaining band members wish him nothing but the best. Drummer Opus comments: "Although we will miss Ross on many different levels, we look forward to the the excitement and possibilities of working with some new energy and flesh blood. We don't care how long it takes for our search, but hopefully our 'Randy Rhodes' will walk through the door."

DBW will be holding national auditions for a replacement guitarist. All candidates must be pro and willing to tour. According to the band, “To be considered, you must be as good or better than Mr. Ross Ragusa. If you think you got what it takes, and are serious about your career, email Omindsnap@aol.com.” More...

TKG Releases New Single

Greek power duet TKG is thrilled to announce the release of latest single “No Shortcuts (Paving The Way Forward)," which is available now worldwide.

You can now stream the single at the band's website here. The track follows the band's previous full-length album "Pattern Partner." Guitar virtuoso Theodore Kalantzakos commented:

"We are inspired from A. Machado’s (1875-1939) words 'Wanderer, there is no road, the road is made by walking.' Since our last release it was a hard working, but at the same time, an enjoyable period for the band. This composition is for all the 'wanderers' who love to keep their head down and working hard on 'paving' their 'way forward.' This composition could also be a page in the band's virtual 'music diary' witnessing that 'road' with 'no shortcuts,' made 'by walking.'"

A video clip is scheduled to be out on September 25th, while a show and clinic tour is being planned for November 2013 to May 2014.

Tombstoned To Release Self-Titled Album

Svart Records has announced November 14th, 2013 as the release date of Tombstoned's self-titled debut album. The following press release was issued about the band:

"Committing their their first undead body to the earth, Tombstoned are veritable funeral directors of doom, kicking up new dirt in the old graveyard with a warm vintage sound that's as fresh as it is genuine. Dragging along truckloads of smoking riffs and coffins of classic, doom-laden heavy rock 'n' roll, these young stalwarts of psych-rock have the real magic of a future classic.

"Brimming with southern swamp atmospheres, reminiscent of Neil Young or Woven Hand and dosed up on heavy Sabbathian, timeless riffs, Tombstoned's debut album bristles forth with chainsaw guitars that put bands like High Tide ahead of their time. Every bit real-deal purveyors of the finest art, Tombstoned the album is an unforgettable collection of diehard tracks to die for.

"Vocals like the bastard lovechild of Ozzy, Robert Smith, and Hawkwind-era Lemmy hook you into the gloom in a way that's been lost for decades. Just when you thought that heavy classics are getting harder and harder to find, Tombstoned show up in a haze of heaving, dusty doom-rock like a shining diamond in a vagrant's tooth. More...

Metal Underground.com is proud to provide the exclusive premiere of the new track "Dark Lights," which features a guest vocal appearance from Gloryhammer vocalist Thomas Winkler (Ex-Emerald) (for a review of Gloryhammer's debut LP "Tales From the Kingdom of Fife," head over here).

Keyboardist/composer Jan Hein describes story behind the lyrics: "Dark Lights is about the person who wakes up in his own nightmare. Everything seems so unreal and he can't run away from the shadows who are hunting him." As for his choice of Thomas Winkler Hein added: "I wanted a strong characterful voice for that song. I discovered the band Gloryhammer and was blown away from Thomas' voice. I asked him to sing the song for us. We are overwhelmed by the result! Hope you guys like it too!"
