The raucous good time Tacoma punkers of C.F.A. (Cody Foster Army) have announced that the third in a series of four videos, "Built Up Knocked Down," from the massively hailed Ripple Music debut album "Managed By The Devil, Brought To You By The Grace Of God." This video, which follows "Sons of the Soil" and "Kick Rocks," was Cody's concept. C.F.A. did all the filming and lighting. Killiam Lord did all the editing and visual effects. And the whole thing was shot in C.F.A.'s lair, otherwise known as the Bro-Op.

Cleveland metallers Alternate Reality have released a new video for their song, “Witch Hunt.”
The infamous lawyer-fronted metal band is known for producing 2011’s viral video sensation, “The King That Never Was,” voted the No. 1 worst video of 2011 by Yahoo! Music, beating out such high-profile videos as Rebecca Black’s “Friday.” It also was named a No. 1 video in the recently published "The Merciless Book of Metal Lists."
The band’s latest video was once again directed, edited, and produced by Alternate Reality frontman and Cleveland area lawyer, Steve Delchin.
“Halloween is coming, there’s a chill in the air, and the leaves are starting to change color. Naturally, we thought this would be the perfect time to release Alternate Reality’s newest video for ‘Witch Hunt,’ which sees the band traveling back to Salem, Massachusetts in 1692 to explore the mass hysteria of the Salem witch trials,” says vocalist Steve Delchin.
“The new video features a ton of witches, cemeteries, religious fanaticism, and a renegade judiciary. Basically, everything that makes for a good heavy metal video,” adds guitarist Bob Delchin. More...

Comatose Music has announced the release of the re-recording of long out-of-print debut "Carnivorous Urge to Kill" from Louisiana brutal deathsters Suture on October 29th. Originally released in 2002, the re-recording coincides with renewed interest in the band and a growing interest in the early material. Suture recently assembled their original lineup and entered the studio to re-record this entire album, along with a couple bonus tracks from the band's early years.
The new recording of Suture's debut album will allow death metal fans to now fully appreciate these songs and hear them how they were meant to be heard in the first place. The album now features amazing guest guitar solos by James Murphy (Death, Obituary, Disincarnate), Rick Rozz (Death, Massacre) and Jim Nickles (ex-Malevolent Creation), plus all new artwork that more closely conveys the imagery that Suture originally conceived for this release. Album track "Carcinoma Contagion" is now streaming at Comatose Music.
Demonical is currently streaming the "Darkness Unbound" album in its entirety. Give the album a listen in the player below, thanks to Terrorizer.com.

Maryland rockers Clutch have been forced to postpone the September tour dates of the "Earth Rocker" North American Tour. This is due to a health issue with singer Neil Fallon.
Most of the shows will be rescheduled and dates are listed below. Support on the rescheduled shows will remain the same and come from The Sword and Crobot.
Tickets that were already purchased for the dates in September will be honored for the rescheduled dates in January. Unfortunately one of the shows could not be rescheduled and has been cancelled: Vienna, WV on 9/21.
The shows scheduled for South Burlington, VT on 9/24 and Long Island, NY on 9/27 will be rescheduled for a later date, so please hold on to your tickets. Refunds for the West Virginia are available at point of purchase.
The band will still be playing "The Shindig" festival on September 14th in Baltimore, MD. All dates on the October - November leg of the tour will go on as scheduled and planned. The Hampton Beach, NH date originally in September is now scheduled for October 25th (unfortunately The Sword and Crobot will not be appearing on this new date in Hampton Beach). News about support will be released in the coming weeks.
Clutch frontman Neil Fallon gave this update on his condition:
"Dear friends, this week I've learned that a childhood injury to the neck, a genetic predisposition for spinal disease, and 20 some years of head banging will exact a toll. I've been diagnosed with an ugly case of cervical spinal stenosis and two herniated discs.
"In some instances these conditions can be treated non-surgically. This is not the case for me. I have been advised by several neurosurgeons that my spinal cord has already been damaged and that I risk further damage were I not to address the situation. For this reason, I've decided to take care of this ASAP. Believe me, re scheduling a tour turns my stomach, but I believe this is the wisest choice given the prognosis.
"On Tuesday I will undergo surgery. The procedure will fuse three vertebrae together with a small titanium plate. I have faith that this surgery will go as well as it can, and that I will be back in the saddle for our October-November tour. On behalf of my spine, deepest apologies to those who had been looking forward to seeing CLUTCH over the next two weeks. We'll make it up to you." More...
Having recently released their self-titled debut EP via Shadow Kingdom Records, Oxnard
California NWOBHM-inspired upstarts Night Demon have announced a series of one-off shows in support of the EP. At the end of September, the band will enter the studio to commence work on the full-length follow up to their four-song debut, which will be released on a yet-to-be-determined label. Night Demon live dates are as follows, three of the shows which feature Diamond Head and Raven on the bill:
09/14 @ Bombay - Ventura, CA (Record Release Show)
10/16 @ Malone's - Santa Ana, CA w/ Diamond Head & Raven
10/17 @ The Vex Arts - Los Angeles, CA w/ Diamond Head & Raven
10/20 @ The Count's Vamp'd - Las Vegas, NV w/ Diamond Head & Raven
10/25 @ The Creekside - Santa Barbara, CA
This California trio, featuring members of The Fucking Wrath, first started making noise in 2011. Shortly after establishing an online presence via Bandcamp, the organizers of Germany's Keep It True Festival offered Night Demon a place on the fest's 2014 line-up. The Shadow Kingdom Records CD release, unleashed on August 6th, is remastered from the digital version and offers an undeniably superior sound. A video for the song "Night Demon," filmed, directed and produced by the band, is now playing below.
Cold Feet Controll will release "Tales of the Brokenhearted Pt.II" on September 20th, 2013 via Inverse Records. The label also comments:
"Cold Feet Control was formed in 2011 by a bunch of good friends who wanted to play a different style of metalcore. Four months after the band was formed, they went in to the studio to record their first EP 'Shake it, Shake it!' which got a very good acceptance from the fans.
"Tales of the Brokenhearted was released on the 1st of January 2013 and the third EP, Tales of the Brokenhearted part 2 will be released on the 20th of September 2013.
"Juuso (the songwriter) tries to write always more brutal and heavier riffs but manages to always drop in some really deep and beautiful melodies with the guitar. So we guess then that's how the songs end up to become easy to listen to. The lyrics then deal about normal everyday life subjects. Some lyrics are more about our personal stuff, things that have happen in life and things what we think happen around us. For an example the 'What kind of drink is absinthe' song from Shake it! Shake it! EP is simply a story about what we think might happen when you drink that crazy drink. Then again 'Bridges Burned' from 'Tales of the Brokenhearted' is a song about a failed relationship. The band just tries to give people a new way to think to be honest and maybe some people can notice that they can find their own life situations in the songs and in that way adapt to the lyrics."
Kentucky death metal veterans Abominant are the focus of a new DeathMetal.org feature that includes an in-depth interview with bassist Mike May and full album stream of the band's landmark 10th release, "Onward to Annihilation." Tribune has posted the song "From Funeral To Funeral" online as a teaser for new album "Tales," which can be heard below. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Over the past nine years, Vancouver, BC’s Tribune has been progressively combining its myriad of influences into a genre-shattering whole and etching away at a sound all its own. Now, the band’s efforts have culminated in their third full-length record, Tales set for release October 29th via their indie label Corpse Corrosion Music, which is available for pre-order right here.
"The nine-track concept album has been inspired by the writings of some of the world’s most renowned authors, including H.P. Lovecraft, H.G. Wells, Homer among many others, but the result is strictly Tribune.
"Exploring a more melodic and progressive sound than ever before, but still staying true to the group’s extreme aggression roots, Tales, the follow-up to 2011’s Elder Lore/The Dark Arts, demonstrates Tribune’s brawn and brains with a collusion of extremity and accessibility.
"As the band’s appetite for more extreme metal increased, bands like Carcass, Death and At The Gates began bleeding into their melting pot of influences, resulting in a fresh take on their fine metal sound, which can be heard echoing in the depths of Tribune’s Tales." More...

As Texas-based Cleric -- the vile death metal faction featuring members of Kill the Client, Baring Teeth, and Tyrannosorceress and more -- prepares for the release of debut album "Gratum Inferno," today the band proudly fans the LP's raging flames with a blazing new video for the track "Through The Starless Abyss."
Check out the video clip below, courtesy of InvisibleOranges.com. Directed by Shane Connelly of Photon Flood, "Through The Starless Abyss" was filmed in the dead of night in a very rural undisclosed location in Emory, Texas.
The multi-camera execution captures the members of Cleric fully encircled by a raging bonfire while they hammer out the song, bringing the concept of the "Gratum Inferno" title literally roaring to life. And what could be more metal than praising Satan surrounded by fire and death in the middle of the night?

I. The Setup
For as long as I can remember, I've searched for what I would define as a "perfect concert" - a mighty bucket list item that eluded me. I fixed the label to many shows in the interim, scratching off those "before death" list items one by one as each successive concert outdid the previous. Back in mid-2012, when I submitted my sponsor list for 2013, I listed fifteen bands I wanted to see and was willing to put money on for ProgPower USA. Number one of that list was Luca Turilli's Rhapsody. The reason is simple....there is no composer in heavy metal not named Jon Oliva that can even compare to the wealth of fantastic material presented since the 90’s. Turilli had numerous solo albums and various side bands all in addition to writing a double power metal story arc that lasted eleven straight albums, many of which grace the top lists of any fan of the genre. Well in advance of the latest two Rhapsody of Fire albums, Luca decided that it had to end…and that he needed to split off and see his own vision of band - one that would turn it towards the cinematic. In what appeared to be a confusing agreement with lifetime friend and co-founder Alex Staropoli, the two would split - each keeping a variant of the name and both claiming the entire back catalog as his own. Then, in a feat that I have seen nowhere else in band splits, the two would remain close friends and allies, each supporting the other and respective releases. Since then, Turilli fired the first salvo with “Ascending to Infinity,” an album so perfect it’s actually hard to listen to (see review here). Even though Rhapsody was not scheduled for the main festival, in the fall of 2012 it was announced that the band would headline the Thursday night kick off show with two hour plus set. Though ProgPower’s main festival would prove so great, this concert was the highlight of not only the festival….but my entire life. What would follow can only be deemed the “perfect concert.” More...

New Swedish doom outfit Avatarium has just revealed the cover artwork and track list for an upcoming self-titled debut album, which will be unleashed November 1st, 2013 via Nuclear Blast.
The band features legendary doom metal pioneer Leif Edling on bass, Marcus Jidell (Evergrey) on guitar, Lars Sköld (Tiamat) on drums, keyboardist Carl Westholm, and singer extraordinaire Jennie-Ann Smith. The front cover was created by Swedish artist Erik Rovamperä.
Commented Erik: “As opposed to many contemporary artists eager to express their inner emotional turmoil my ambitions as painter stand first and foremost from a lifelong love of hardrockin´music and the inherently darker iconography of that genre. I’m seldom one to channel personal experiences in my art but rather view my work as part of the Heavy Metal tradition forged by likes of Derek Riggs, Ken Kelly and many more. In the specific chase of Avatarium my sources of inspiration have come to include the heretical idolatry of the pre-Christianized cults throughout ancient Europe and esoteric allegories of the late medieval secret societies”
Guitarist Marcus unveils an insight on the birth of Avatarium: “We are very proud to present the first but not the last Avatarium album to you. When we started to demo the songs on this album we had one thing that we thought was extremely important, we wanted to make music that was heavy, dark and poetic. Also we had an urge to make an album with a very organic sound and no fixing and trixing in computers but just try to make great emotional music. During the whole process we have been looking for feeling rather than trying to make everything technically perfect. More...
The Swedish riff lords in Grand Magus have just started to record the follow-up to last year’s "The Hunt." After finishing up demoing and a pre-production phase, the band entered the recording state at the beginning of September.
Grand Magus has once again engaged with Nico Elgstrand as a producer, who already had his hands on the controllers for "The Hunt," as well as the engineering force of Staffan Karlsson at Studio Sweetspot in Halmstad, who has worked with Arch Enemy and he mixed the most recent record from Spiritual Beggars.
Commented drummer Ludwig “Ludde” Witt: "The time has come! Warriors! Things have been quiet around here recently, you know us well enough to know that we haven't been sitting around idly though... We have finished writing our new album and we enter the studio!!! Monday the 2 of September marks the start of our new journey. The result will be something to behold. That is a promise. You want something heavy? You'll get it. This will be our strongest album to date.”
San Diego, CA Carnifex signed to Nuclear Blast during the summer, and now the band has finished recording a new album at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, FL with producer Mark Lewis.
"After a year and half of writing and five weeks in the studio, we are very excited that tracking for the new album is complete,” commented vocalist Scott Lewis. “Not only is this the best production we have ever had, the depth in each song is beyond anything we have previously written. We combined the best parts of our previous albums with elements and influences we only touched on in the past. This is the album Carnifex was always meant to write."
On recently signing to Nuclear Blast Lewis continues: “Signing with Nuclear Blast is a career defining moment for Carnifex. To be aligned with the largest Metal label on earth is a true honor. This world-wide deal signals a turning point for us as a band and individuals. Together with Nuclear Blast you will see Carnifex like you have never seen us before. Prepare yourself for an album that crushes any and all expectations. An album that will stand as the definitive mark for modern Metal.”
Carnifex's Nuclear Blast Records debut will also introduce new lead guitarist and longtime friend of the band, Jordan Lockrey. A release is tentatively scheduled for some time in the first quarter of 2014.
Carnifex's latest album, "Until I Feel Nothing," was produced by Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying) and was released on October 25th, 2011.
"Atomic Ark," the newest solo album from French composer Vivien Lalu -- and first for progressive metal powerhouse, Sensory Records -- is out now. You can stream the full release in the player below, courtesy of Popmatters.com.
The opus was fully conceived and composed by Lalu, the musician having enlisted a lineup of vocalist Martin LeMar (Mekong Delta), bassist Mike LePond (SymphonyX), guitarist Simone Mularoni (DGM) and drummer Virgil Donati (PlanetX), in addition to countless guest contributions, to complete the album.
In addition to the release of his new masterwork, this week Vivien Lalu also announces that half of his royalties for "Atomic Ark" will be donated directly to Paris/NYC-based animal rescue organization Alerte Sos.
In a statement released via his Facebook page early today the French composer notes: "Just got back from my visit to Alerte Sos; It was a real pleasure to meet the president and her team. These people are so amazing... I am speechless at their dedication to the animal cause. You should know that in France, animals are sentenced if they don't find a family; the clock is always ticking. So I am very happy to announce that half of my Atomic Ark royalties will go to Alerte Sos and by buying this album you will help to save many animals from certain death. We can't save them all - but every little gesture helps! Some of these puppies are hurt and sick and need treatment but the veterinary fees are huge! Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy being a part of something greater than just listening to music." More...
Sweden's melancholic rock/metal masters Katatonia have posted a video clip online of band members Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse discussing how and why the new "Dethroned and Uncrowned" release came about.

Lamb of God is pleased to announce that the band has completed work on a special 10th Anniversary Edition of "As The Palaces Burn." The following press release was also issued:
"After some serious detective work tracking down the original album master tapes, the band went in with producer Josh Wilbur (who also produced Wrath and Resolution) and gave 'Palaces' a full-on, ass kicking remix and remaster. Front-to-back, top to bottom. The remixed version of Palaces is now how they had originally intended it to be.
"To go along with the album re-release, Lamb of God also shot a brand new DVD documentary recounting the recording process and the stories behind the music which features new interviews with original producer Devin Townsend, the band members and current producer, Josh Wilbur."
Drummer Chris Adler comments, "we are lucky to have the opportunity, a decade after our first attempt, to bring what I consider to be our master work up to speed sonically. Ever since the original release we've been distraught about the sonic qualities of 'As the Palaces Burn'. The band had captured lightening in a bottle and the budget limitation of a sophomore album turned our lightening into a firefly in a jar. The songs are undeniable and we've always been very proud of how this album launched our career. It feels appropriate to revisit now that we can and give this very special album the chance to reach our original hopes and it's true potential."
Tyr is streaming brand new album, "Valkyrja," all weekend. The album can be heard in its entirety beginning today (Friday the 13th) through Monday, September 16th. Check it out below or at the Metal Blade website. The label comments:
"Fans: this is your chance to hear previously unreleased tracks, including The Lay of Our Love, which features Leaves' Eyes vocalist Liv Kristine. Plus, Tyr's covers of Iron Maiden's Where Eagles Dare and Pantera's Cemetary Gate, which about.com called 'downright amazing, faithfully capturing the emotional essence of the original.' Additionally, George Kollias was enlisted to handle drum recording duties on Valkyrja."
In terms of what the band hopes fans take away from the album, bassist Gunnar H. Thomsen states, "I hope they will enjoy it and they like the new direction as well as (guitarist) Terji's bigger involvement in writing and George's drumming. We had a more upbeat direction without changing Tyr's style."
"Valkyrja," the seventh full-length album from Tyr, will be released next week in North America. Tyr is on tour now with Finntroll and Skalmold in Europe. Dates are available below. More...
