Northern Virginia-based trio Drugs of Faith has completed the final stages of an upcoming new EP to be released late this Autumn.
The first new recordings to emerge since 2011's "Corroded" album, Drugs of Faith let loose with four brand new tracks on the freshly finished "Architectural Failures" EP. The following press release was issued about the band:
"The band's patented rocked-out grindcore approach here shows some brutally awesome dissonant tones and more expansive dimensions with a crushing metallic production courtesy of the sessions at Developing Nations with Kevin Bernsten (Full Of Hell, Inter Arma, Ilsa, Coke Bust) and final mastering by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed). Architectural Failures will see release in late November as a one-sided 12" limited to 300 copies with a digital download via Malokul, the DIY label started by D.C. act Disciples of Christ.
"Coming from co-founder Richard Johnson (Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Enemy Soil), Drugs of Faith has endured since 2003, with a plethora of releases out via Poland's Selfmadegod Records amidst several demos and compilation spots including Relapse Records' This Comp Kills Fascists Vol.2. And simply put, they fucking shred. Following recent live actions including this year's Macrock conference in Virginia followed by a spot on the Philadelphia date of this year's Decibel Magazine Tour with Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death and Immolation, Drugs of Faith will again take to the streets with updates to be announced in the weeks ahead."
The track listing is as follows:
1. The Incumbent
3. Paper Trails

Skeletonwitch will hit the road this Fall with The Black Dahlia Murder. The voyage will follow another bout of shows supporting Swedish occult rockers Ghost B.C. in addition to a pair of headlining gigs of their own. The band's confirmed itinerary is listed after the jump. More...

After the release of last year’s "Three Wise Monkeys," bassist Alberto Rigoni (solo artist, TwinSpirits) is all set to start working on its follow-up album.
As an avid Dream Theater fan, Alberto Rigoni has been covering and playing the band's songs since the start of his career. Saying that "Erotomania" was the first song he learned to play back when he was 16 brought him to pay a tribute to the band by covering this song on his brand new signature model of Dingwall AR5 bass, a mix between the ABZ and Z3 series.
Alberto comments on the track: "It’s a true instrumental masterpiece, both from its technical and melodic aspects. There’s so much to learn from that song because there are many tempo changes and it’s also great for the stretching." More...

Candlelight Records today confirms November 11th as the North American release date for "Obsideo," the new album from Dutch metal extremists Pestilence.
Produced by vocalist/guitarist Patrick Mameli, the album is the band's inaugural recording for the label and first new material from the four-piece since 2011.
"We have gone beyond our human limits to achieve the highest form of brutal music," reveals Mameli when discussing the album's creation. "The musicianship is such high quality; it is really ten of the most demanding songs written in death metal."
Together with long-time guitarist Patrick Uterwijk, Mameli, bassist George Maier and drummer Dave Haley deliver a blistering and genre-lifting effort. "I am chuffed to have Dave in the lineup," confirmed Mameli earlier this year while discussing the band's updated cast. "He is one of the best extreme drummers in the world and his talent bring Pestilence to new levels. George is a young and talented bass player that will turn some heads. Both are really down to earth and real easy going guys. Patrick, of course, is my most respected and long-going friend and musician."
"Obsideo" boasts Mameli and his innovative guitar work. Utilizing eight-string guitars for the album's recording, the celebrated musician expands his already massive arsenal of riffs. "The eight string guitar opens a lot of doors," notes Mameli. "It gives lots of new musical options and allows us to make the music sound more brutal than before. It also forces me to sing in a higher pitch because I don't want my vocals in the way of the low-tuned guitar parts. My vocals sound more intense and manic than before." More...
NYC psychedelic doom trio Blackout is pleased to announce the release of the "We Are Here" debut. The album will be released independently on October 25th, 2013.
Comments the band in a collective statement: "We are really excited to get this record out. We're not a methodical band and our biggest hope was that the record sounded like us in the jam room... heavy, slow, and drunk. So that's exactly what we did... drank lots of beer and let Rob do his thing. The whole session was pretty blurry but we're psyched with the results."
The track listing is as follows:

Sweden's Ghost B.C. today premiered part one of a new documentary web series entitled "Papaganda" on Vice's Noisey.com.
"Papaganda" (see what they did there?) explores the papal lineage, the reign of Papa Emeritus II, and the future of the Ghost dynasty. The series was directed by Greg Olliver, who co-directed & produced 2010's "Lemmy," and a soon-to-be-released psychological thriller/horror, "Devoured."
Check out the new clip below. "You can't point a camera at Ghost without every frame of footage looking like heavy-metal gold." said Olliver. "To work with a band that's on a fast rise to fame and has a mysterious story which is currently unraveling requires an entirely different approach. Add in the anonymity of the group and the look that they have... and you suddenly have a whole lot to chew on as a director. The only downside is that I felt a bit silly on stage filming NOT wearing a robe and black mask."
"Greg has the perfect mix of story-telling acumen, musical taste and a fondness for the macabre... it made him the ideal choice to tell the story of Ghost." said Adam Farrell, creative director of the band's label, Loma Vista.
Filming for the series and planned feature-length documentary began on the summer festival circuit and continues through the year. It is being produced through Greg Olliver's NYC based production company, Secret Weapon Films. More...

Broken Hope and Bloody-Disgusting.com are pleased to premiere the brand new static video for the band’s track "The Docking Dead," cut from upcoming album "Omen Of Disease," due out October 1st on Century Media Records (September 30th in Europe). Watch the video below.
Broken Hope guitarist Jeremy Wagner says: "I began penning words for Broken Hope 25 years ago, and my approach has never changed... I still create the most horrific, insane, and repulsive lyrics my mind can conjure. ‘The Dociking Dead’ is no exception to my long list of nasty flash-fiction. Many of my ideas start with a 'what if' scenario.
"In the case of ‘The Docking Dead,’ I asked myself, what if a Re-Animator-like scientist attempted to harvest human foreskins from male corpses using an experimental re-agent and growth hormone--and in doing so, he started a zombie apocalypse? That's all I needed to write the lyrics to this song. Zombies, dead penile tissue, death metal, and grind are what's in store when you hear--and read--our newest preview song, ‘The Docking Dead'." Heralded U.K. outfit Anathema will kick off a North American tour tonight in Philadelphia, PA. The co-headlining run with Alcest and special guest Mamiffer will continue through October 5th. A full list of dates can be seen below.
"I can't wait," said Anathema vocalist/guitarist Vincent Cavanagh. "Such a cool line up - three bands that move in different spheres while sharing the intent to create music that is honest, forward-thinking and uninhibited.
"I first met Stéphane from Alcest last year, discussing '90's shoegaze bands in a forest in Lithuania! He is someone for whom I have great respect. Their music is melodic and soulful, full of dream-like imagery.
"Mamiffer are true artists. The dynamic mix of stark piano, crushing melancholic textures and choral reverie is something to behold. Exactly the kind of thing I'm into, so I'm really looking forward to it."
Anathema has only performed twice as a full band in North America, at the infamous Milwaukee Metal Fest in 2000 and 2001, as well as supporting a few dates of Blackfield's 2011 tour as an acoustic duo.
To coincide with the North American tour, Anathema will release "Universal," a concert film on Blu-ray and CD/DVD capturing a special one-off gig at the ancient Roman theatre of Philippopolis, on September 17 via Kscope. More...

Carrying the energy over from ProgPower XIV’s Friday show to Saturday’s show was like a Herculean trial for me, running on a combined total of 6 hours sleep from the last two days. In the quiet of dawn, nobody from ProgPower: Hardcore, the unofficial fitness group, was awake enough to run or work out, but not for lack of effort -- They had put in a good run and hot yoga session earlier in the week. (Only at ProgPower, folks.) Fortunately, each of the seven bands on the second day’s roster brought its game face and gave me and the other concert-goers what we needed to raise our bodies, put our hands in the air, bang our heads, jump (if you really enjoyed Sabaton), and fall in love all over again.
After descending upon Einstein Bagel Co at the end of Peachtree St for breakfast with my group of fellow black-shirted friends, which brought a few funny reactions from the locals, we headed down to The Loft next to Center Stage to see Wolverine’s exclusive all-acoustic set for Gold Badge holders and sponsors only. Having rehearsed well in advance, Wolverine was a well-oiled machine, although the same could not be said for the guitar cables that seemed to be shorting out on them by the dozen. Nevertheless, the show was to be unforgettable. Drawing heavily from “Communication Lost,” perhaps the easiest Wolverine album to translate to an acoustic setting, the show took the form of a sort of “Storytellers” gig.
The typical routine they followed went something like this: Vocalist Stefan Zell or bassist Thomas Jansson would give a background and context to a song, they would play it through, Jansson or keyboardist Per Henriksson would take a passionate but subdued solo, Zell would light up the air with his voice, and the crowd would weep. It’s true -- one attendee brought a box of tissues with her, which the band autographed after the performance, for members of the audience that couldn’t help but resonate with the song. The whole performance gave the impression of a slow burn -- warm and electrifying. A special set, indeed. More...
