October 2nd sees the release of the new album from Polish extreme metal act Armagedon (not to be confused with multiple bands with the same misspelling or a dozen others with the correctly spelled title Armageddon).
The new album will be entitled "Thanatology" and contains eight new songs. It was recorded and produced by the band and Arek Malta Malczewski at the Radio Gdansk studio, Piano Art Kwidzyn, and Sound Division.
The band commented: "Destruction begins! It’s been nearly four years since the release of Death Then Nothing struck. We’ve returned much stronger, more mature and with devastatingly good material. The sound is wild yet precise with nostalgia in the lyrics. The new album contains eight highly disturbing songs, wrapped in a unique sound production. We are very proud of our new work! During September we will present to you several installments of Thanatology. Look out, we are coming again over the horizon, an even stronger Armagedon!"
The first song fans can hear from "Thanatology" is entitled "Cemeteries" and is available below. The album is due out October 2nd, 2013 via Mystic Production. More...

The song centers around a race of beings known as the Uumpluuy that, through science and Magick, have influenced countless worlds in both negative and positive ways. They have achieved this by projecting their subconscious forms into various realms and making subtle changes in both the environment and mentalities of the indigenous races."
And if you missed it, you can still check out the otherworldly sounds of "Electro-Stimulated Hallucinatory Response," at this location.
The album was recorded with Sanford Parker (Minsk, Buried At Sea, Yakuza) at Earth Analog Studios in Chicago and will be released in North America via Willowtip Records on October 15th, 2013. More...

Beauty in the Suffering, the newly launched electro-metal studio project from producer Dietrich Thrall (Marazene), have announced several more contributors to the band's growing list of special guests.
Drummer Aaron "Monty" Montgomery of platinum rockers Trapt will contribute drums on "The Plea," a track expected to appear on the band's debut full-length album. Current The Razorblade Dolls guitarist Chris Telkes has contributed guitar on the band's announced debut single "The Crazies." Chris is perhaps best known for co-founding the industrial rock band Nocturne and Lacey Connor (VH1's Rock of Love). Beauty in the Suffering is expected to announce a release date for the digital single in the coming weeks.
Skinlab guitarist Provo Provenzano will add guitars to "Reveille." The track is the the expected second digital single from the band expected in the Fall. Provo has also been the engineering force behind the project with tracking taking place at Pirated Sound Studios and Bell Lab Recordings, both located in the Oklahoma City, OK metro area.
"Beauty in the Suffering is one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on lately.” Provo commented. “DieTrich is insanely precise in the studio and has a great vision for where his songs need to be and the diy ability and attitude to get it done right.”
“Real talented and cool bunch of guys who I am beyond thrilled to have on board the very first Beauty In The Suffering songs – the tracks they sent us have been top shelf embellishment.” Dietrich offered. “Provo has been been my weapon of choice in helping me realize these tracks at the level I always heard them in my head so a very big kudos to him for that as well.”
After being released without any charges filed, Varg Vikernes is apparently trying to sue the French government for his arrest on suspicion of planning a massacre, but is seeking donations from fans to afford the legal action.
Vikernes posted the message below on his blog asking for fan support via Paypal.
For an opposite viewpoint and a critical look at some of Varg's statements, you can also see what Metalsucks.net had to say about the post here.
"We have had the time to think over what happened to us in this «terrorist» case, we have talked about it with others, and we realise that the «French» authorities had no reason to arrest us in the first place. We had done nothing wrong, and they never had any evidence suggesting otherwise. They shot our door open, traumatized our children, threw my pregnant wife and me in holding cells and kept us there for two-three days, placed our scared children in the care of their grand parents, completely messed up our archives with official documents and such, took my USB pens and hard drives, confiscated all our firearms, ammo, many tools, decorative swords, my helmet, two spears, my wife’s flint knives (?) and all sorts of other things too, most of them with great affection value, and they decleared that we no longer had the right to own or possess any type of weapons: everything, all of this for no good reason whatsoever.
"To make it worse the grand parents of our children tried to take them away from us. Instead of helping us out in this difficult time, they wrote a letter to a judge and tried to take our children from us, because they don’t like our lifestyle or political-religious ideas. So when we were to get our children back we had to go to court, argue and fight to have a judge tell them to give our children back. Thankfully she did, and of course I may add, but it cost us a lot, both in energy, worry and even money.
"When that was over our PayPal account was frozen, apparently because our bank account, in HSBC, was closed – on orders from their HQ in Paris, and – again – without any reason. Not without any valid reason, but without any reason at all. Marie has to open up a new PayPal account connected to another bank account, in order for us to continue to sell the «ForeBears» DVD and make a living from that. We now have an account in a new bank, so that is fixed, and now Marie has to spend several days working to transfer all our payments (for the rental house, the cell phones and such) to the new account – a task made so much harder by the fact that the police left our archive in a big mess.
"Naturally we are angry, and we don’t want not tolerate this. We want to sue the authorities for arresting us for no good reason whatsoever, doing so in the most brutal way possible and with children present, and also for without any reason taking away our right to own or even possess weapons. Marie has a crime record white as snow, so there is no reason for them to take away her right and freedom to own weapons. I have a record in Norway, from 1993 and 2003, but I have never done anything criminal in France, and I can own most weapons even in Norway if I want to, so they have no good reason to take away my right and freedom to own weapons either. Especially not when they have done so under such circumstances. More...
Today is the day: German epic metal heroes Equilibrium unleash their pagan fury once again – on their very first EP to date!
Produced by guitarist René Berthiaume in Helion Studios and mixed and mastered by the Resetti Brothers – namely Joerg Umbreit and Vincent Sorg – in their Principal Studios, "Waldschrein" encompasses the new title track and an acoustic version of the same song plus a re-recorded and extended version of "Der Sturm" from "Turis Fratyr" (originally sung by ex-vocalist Helge Stange, now by front man Robse Dahn). Moreover, it contains "Zwergenhammer," a previously unreleased older song, as well as a cover version of famous video game Skyrim's opening theme.
The band commented: "We were really looking forward to releasing this EP, because we all have to wait until next year for our next full-length album to be released. This makes it the perfect chance to release some songs and recordings that didn’t make it on any regular album because they are so exclusive. The best thing is that with the song 'Waldschrein' we can already give the fans a little foretaste of what to expect in 2014!"
Equilibrium also gave fans the chance to address questions directly to the band via Facebook and subsequently answered them in a video interview. Part 2 of the Facebook fan interview is now online and can be viewed below. Part 1 of the interview can also be found at this location. More...

Hell Headbangers announces October 31st as the international release date for Zemial's new album, "Nykta," to be released on CD and LP formats. This will follow previous full-length "In Monumentum" (reviewed here), along with two EPs. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Greece's Zemial ake their long-awaited return to the full-length front with the vast 'n' visual Nykta. Seven years on from their last album, 2006's towering In Monumentum, Zemial's Nykta stylistically ranges the band's entire, 25-year history but with bold, new strokes entirely fitting with the band's ever-evolving lyricism.
"From gritty blackthrash to epic heavy metal, from art-music experimentation to moments of prog-inflected psychedelia, from soundscape ambience to realms completely uncategorizable and many mesmerizing points in between, Nykta displays Zemial in all their austere, multihued glory: masters of storytelling songcraft and adventurous instrumental acumen, honoring tradition whilst defying boundaries all the same, their theatrical sweeps of sound ably transporting the listener across space and time, to the very ends of the cosmos and back. And while they may have begun in the darkest, earliest days of black metal, Zemial have effortlessly developed into a many-tentacled force of magick and dynamism; their sound now can only be accurately described as 'Zemial.' Brazilian act Endrah's "The Culling" album is due in stores September 9th, 2013. Today we bring you an audio and visual taste of the album in the form of a new lyric clip for "Silver Tongue," which can be viewed below.
If you aren't familiar with the band, Endrah will let you know what to expect, stating: "Endrah comes from the heart, and the lineup includes black-belt level M.M.A. fighters. We train with U.F.C. champions, and we are diehard musicians. We are the real deal, no joke. A lot of metal and hardcore bands speak a lot of bullshit, but cannot back it up. Join our team and let's start making some progress in this world. This is not some show, this is not fake. This is real, this is blood and guts. We are trying to start a real revolution, and make real changes, not a promise never kept."
Endrah vocalist "Relentless" further comments on the "Silver Tongue" track: "Silver Tongue is an aural assault musically. The lyrics, and delivery of them are meant to grab attention. Silver Tongue is a song about the lies our leaders eloquently spit out, and what should happen to them. People are not meant to be slaves, people are meant to be free. How free do you think you are right now? Not as free as you may think. Silver Tongue relates to the revelation of who those actors really are, and how they do NOT care about you. Politicians now-a-days seem for the good, but more often than not, are power mongers, hiding behind smiles, and empty promises.
"I am tired of the games, and I know millions of people are waiting for the right moment to dethrone those not suited for the throne. A public office is meant to be filled by a public servant working for the public good. Do you feel this is true? Silver Tongue is for those that can see behind the mask to expose, and those who cannot see it, to be enlightened. The song falls in line, lyrically, and sonically with the rest of the album. Please purchase yourself a copy and come see Endrah when we tour near your city." More...
