Metalunderground.com has been hitting up bands and fans everywhere to get their most memorable mosh pit stories. This week Tom Brumpton of Akarusa Yami shares a story of his former band Kallous playing a terrifying show in a fallout shelter in the Czech Republic.
In 2007 my old band Kallous was playing a Festival in the Czech Republic and it was absolutely terrifying. While we were over there we got invited to play a smaller venue called The Bunker, which was an old fallout shelter from the war. It was 30 feet underground and smelt terrible. There were 7 bands, a Neo-Nazi dancing throughout by himself, the stage was at the bottom of a ramp, and there was no crowd to be seen as the “Bunker” was in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere.
About two songs into the set, water began tricking down the ramp onto the stage. By the end of the set, the stage and electrics were covered in water and we all thought we were going to die. I ran out of the venue screaming. The last band was later not allowed to play as the sound man had ran out of cocaine. He then shuffled off into the night, leaving 30 people and about £20,000 worth of musical equipment in the middle of Prague, in the middle of the night, without a lift home. Scary.
Head over to Akarusa Yami's official Facebook page here to check out what the band has to offer, and be sure to check back in next Tuesday as we share more Pit Stories taken from fans and bands around the world.
PitBall Records has checked in with the following announcement about Solace in Nothing finishing recording for the "Demons" EP:
"PitBall Records & Entertainment along with Next Door Studio is excited to announce that Solace in Nothing has finished their debut EP 'Demons.' This CD will take down the metal road you have been searching for.
"Solace in Nothing songs deliver a modern version of heavy drums and guitar but stick to the true metal roots of a pure groove and melody. PitBall Records will soon be posting the date of Solace in Nothing’s Cd release show soon. Stay tuned and may metal be with you."
You can also check out footage of the band performing the song "Bad Dog" live in the clip below.
Bulgarian act Rampart has issued the following announcement about changing the date for an upcoming London show due to the recent riots:
"Due to the actions of the mindless jizz-wipes over the past couple of days, tomorrow's gig of Rampart at Scream Lounge, London, has been cancelled.
"The band will play on 12th August, Friday, at the same venue with Bleed to This, Clarity, and Hellbent & Hammered! Metal is our way!"
You can also check out Rampart's music by heading over to the band's MySpace music profile.
Finsterforst has checked in with the following announcement about entering the studio to record a new album:
"Brothers and sisters, may I have your attention please?! We hit the studio and are creating huge madness right now! To follow this awesome mess of epicness every day, check out our Facebook page for the official studio diary! I wish you people a good night and awesome dreams! May the Haxism finally conquer the world!"
The band also released the following update from the studio:
"It is awesome to experience over and over again, that we probably have the ultimate animal behind the drum set. After finishing today's sound check, we had to realize, that he already raped the 16” tom quite much! What an aggressive bastard! I seriously think he is getting more and more into dangerous sports...
"We actually changed again some microphone setup after trying something else during the sound check. I really think it was worth it and brings us the last detailed drop of Haxism into our drum sound. While Wombo was following his obligations behind the war machine, I was learning, that mankind obviously is at its top of intelligence and power! Scientists say, that humans are actually using the full ability and capacity of their brains instead of the widely assumed 10 % workload. Holy hell, what horrible news! Ah, this reminds me on a great movie called 'Idiocracy.' I don't like to make any commercial for anything, but you should check this documentary about mankind...
"At some point our hairy and old keyboard freak AlleyJazz stopped by to throw a very nice 'hello!' at our heads before he left us after several minutes again because of our smells. Rowdy Wombo recorded quite huge material today and we are already excited to proceed tomorrow. Well, you know what day is tomorrow...and with such motivation and desire for an experience of haxian (german = haxös) satisfaction there simply can't go anything wrong. Amen!"

It was amazing all these people came to see us, and all they had was a small sample of our music to go by. The crowd was really getting into us, and that was awesome. We spent over a year getting our act together, months in the studio recording, and lost a lot of sleep preparing for this event. It was great to see all our hard work pay off.”

Century Media Records and its associated labels InsideOutMusic, Superballmusic and People Like You have decided to pull their repertoire from Spotify in an attempt to protect the interests of their artists. Here's the official statement from the label:
"While everyone at the label group believes in the ever changing possibilities of new technology and new ways of bringing music to the fans, Century Media is also of the opinion that Spotify in its present shape and form isn’t the way forward. The income streams to the artists are affected massively and therefore that accelerates the downward spiral, which eventually will lead to artists not being able to record music the way it should be recorded. Ultimately, in some cases, it will completely kill a lot of smaller bands that are already struggling to make ends meet.
"At the same time Century Media also believes that Spotify is a great tool to discover new music and is in the process of reintroducing their bands to Spotify by way of putting up samplers of the artists. This way, fans can still discover the great music released by the label.
"Physical sales are dropping drastically in all countries where Spotify is active. Artists are depending on their income from selling music and it is our job to support them to do so. Since the artists need to sell their music to continue their creativity, Spotify is a problem for them. This is about survival, nothing less and it is time that fans and consumers realize that for artists it is essential to sell music to keep their heads above water.
"Obviously it is ultimately up to the music fan and consumer, how they access their music, whether it is buying, streaming or stealing. There needs to be awareness though, that how you will consume your music has direct consequences for the artists, who we are all trying to support."
