Florida metal act Unkempt has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's guitarist:
"As those of you may know who were in attendance at our last show with Six Feet Under in Tampa, FL we recently congratulated our guitarist and dear friend Jason Sims on becoming a father-to-be to twins! We are all very happy for Jason and wife Heather for such great news and their future in becoming great parents to likely two very talented children.
"Unfortunately with this great news we regret to inform you all that Jason will be stepping down as a member of the Unnkempt family to uphold his responsibilities as both a father and husband. Jason will, without a doubt, be very sorely missed. Now for some good news for you, the reader. This open position needs someone to fill it…and it could be you.
"We are in search of someone who can fill some very large shoes and we are opening the audition process up to everyone. You will be screened personally by the band. If you do not fit the requirements, we appreciate your support but please do not submit a request for pre-screening. We want to bring our family, friends, and fans the music we pour our heart and souls into as soon as possible and to do so we have to streamline this process as best we can. We are an established band and LLC, which means we are a registered business with accounts payable and accounts receivable. Help us to keep the engine running and we will all see you in the pit very soon. Here you will find the requirements to what we need in order to be eligible for pre-screening and to be contacted personally by the band for an audition.
"Thank you all so much for supporting the music and all we do and good luck!"
Milwaukee's Face of Ruin has issued the following announcement about deciding to call it a day:
"We had hoped to tie up some loose ends before announcing this, but it's gotten to the point that we might as well just get it out there in the open.
"We are no longer an active band. As happens in life, sometimes it has to end for the betterment of everyone involved.
"Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us over the years. The fans we've met, the bands we've jammed with, and the life-long friends we've made along the way. Your support throughout the years has been amazing, and we wouldn't have gotten this far without you.
"Again, thank you everyone."
Graveyard has announced details about an upcoming new single release, titled "Goliath." The track comes off Graveyard's next album, "Light's Out," due October 26th (EU) and November 6th, 2012 (NA) via Nuclear Blast Records.
The "Goliath" single will be released September 21st, 2012 as a digital download and on 7“ vinyl. The release will include a special non-album track, "Leaving You." The 7“ vinyl version will be issued in four different colors, featuring four different cover artworks!
Commented the band: "The lyrics deal with the feeling that everyday life is a constant David vs. Goliath scene. You all know the story and the scene. You look around, get pissed off and want to 'stick it to the man.' Musically it has many influences. And as usual we've tried to get it both heavy and swinging at the same time. So why don't you just shake your record collecting old ass to the beat of the new tune from your favourite Swedish numbskulls?“
The band also commented on the new album's upcoming, currently unreleased, artwork: "The cover is something completely different than the last cover. It has a lot to do with the title, Light's Out. Our goal was that both the title and the cover would sum up the feeling of the album. And just to make things clear, Light's Out is not a reference to either UFO or ENTOMBED. Even though both are excellent bands.“ More...
Every week we get the best Pit Stories that musicians and metal lovers have to offer. While normally these stories focus on the frequently violent aspects of fans throwing down during a set, shenanigans definitely aren't limited to the mosh pit during the show itself, as many bands can attest with stories of backstage antics. This week German act Perzonal War shares the following story of sleeping arrangements gone awry:
A really, really funny thing that comes to my mind is a Perzonal War show (at this time still Personal War with “s”) that is more than 10 years ago. I guess it was around 2001 or 2002. We played in a pretty cool location that offered a sleeping room for the bands as well. My bandmates brought in their camping mats – I brought in my mother's air mattress and was called a “pussy” immediately. I am NOT Rock 'n Roll they said. “Shut up” was my comment. “I will not wake up with back problems while you will cry like babies tomorrow."
We had some drinks, it got late and when we returned to the sleeping room I saw a couple having sex on my – or better – my mother's air mattress. I couldn't believe my eyes: “What the hell are you doing here?” “Sorry, just two more minutes” was their comment and they went on riding while I stood there like an idiot!
Speechless I went out of the room; the others laughed their asses off and when I returned my mattress – no joke – was riven and stained!! The other guys could not stop laughing and at the end I was the one who could sleep on the ground with NOTHING under me. When my mother asked me for her air mattress I told her I have unforetunately lost it hahahahahaha.
Perzonal War recently released the new "Captive Breeding" album, and you can check out songs from the release over at Facebook here. Check back in again next Tuesday as we continue to share more tales from live shows from bands and metal fans.

According to a press release, the result is a "raw blast of everything Yuppicide is best known for: speed, intensity, drive, sincerity and a dogged determination to carving its own path through the punk/hardcore world."
“Even when the band was apart, I wrote songs for Yuppicide: I'd hear Jesse's voice or Joe's bass,” explains Yuppicide guitarist and founding member, Steve Karp. “Once we started working with new drummer Jay, the reunited band got back into songwriting mode quickly and almost too easily - like we never stopped. ‘American Oblivion’ is our very best effort yet, and sums up all our hard work since forming way back in 1988.”

1. Dead Inside
2. Too Late
3. There's a Line

"Kaleb is the one song on the album that I'm the most proud of because I wrote it about my son," states vocalist Kyle "Gumby" Gunther. "To have this be the track that Ryan used is really special to me, because seeing the intensity of our first arena show with such a hard-hitting song really gives the world a good idea of how much I love my boy. As a band, we'll never forget that show. We were nervous as all hell!" More...
Southern Cali breakdown warriors Xibalba will be releasing "Hasta La Muerte" in North America next week, and the band has now made the entire release available online for streaming. Check out the full album over at Brooklyn Vegan here. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"Taking their down-tuned assault to iniquitous new dimensions, Xibalba's breakdowns hit with the force of tsunamis and their riffs like mires of quicksand on Hasta La Muerte, the band's intense style infusing some of the most doom-ridden tones one will experience within the hardcore genre with unstoppable force. Recorded by Taylor Young (of labelmates Nails), and sought out renowned death metal artist Dan Seagrave (Dismember, Entombed, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, etc.) to craft the foreboding cover art.
"Hasta La Muerte will hit the streets via Southern Lord Records on August 14th in North America, just four days into their month-long North American tour with Alpha & Omega as well as labelmates Power Trip for most of the trek. After releasing an amped-up cover of a holiday classic in each of the past four years, August Burns Red is officially announcing details of a full-length Christmas album: "August Burns Red presents: Sleddin’ Hill, A Holiday Album." The album will be released on October 9th, 2012.
The 13-track release features new takes on classics such as “Jingle Bells,” “Winter Wonderland,” and even “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer,” as well as original compositions. The album also compiles remixed and remastered versions of the band’s previous holiday hits, like “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” and “Little Drummer Boy.” Rounding out the collection is an updated version of the band’s rendition of “Carol of the Bells,” heard in Frank Miller’s movie The Spirit and Seth MacFarlane’s American Dad.
“The idea of doing a full Christmas album has been floating around in the ABR camp for a few years now, but what always held us back was finding the time and energy to write an additional full-length in between touring and writing our regular records,” explains guitarist and principle songwriter JB Brubaker. “After finishing [2011’s] Leveler I finally felt inspired enough to tackle the Christmas album idea.”
The band chose to come home and work at Lancaster's Atrium Audio with longtime friends Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland on "Sleddin' Hill." “Because this was such a different type of album, I was able to get a little more wild with my influences,” states Brubaker. “There’s a section inspired by one of my favorite bands, Beirut. There’s also guitar solo that is an ode to Blue Album-era Weezer, and my punk roots are evident all over the album.” More...

On July 6th, Nashville was doomed, so to speak. Impending Doom had arrived in town for a show at Rocketown that night, bringing with them a handful of other bands: Within The Ruins, The Plot In You, Erra, and To Each His Own. Despite having the smaller of the two Rocketown venues for their show, their performance was fitting of the scope of their band name.
Before the show, I caught up with Impending Doom vocalist Brook Reeves, along with his bandmates on the tour bus, for a video interview. The band is known for confrontationally Christian lyrics, constantly involving Us-Versus-Them scenarios. For example, in the title track to their third album, Reeves says, “For the unbelievers who repeatedly try to retain their belief in humanity, I promise there will be violence.”
I got them to elaborate on their message, talk about their latest album and modern production styles, as well as detail their songwriting process and their past. More...
