With the newly revamped lineup of Hydrogyn with ex-Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young, and bassist James Lomenzo, many fans were excited with the fourth coming album: "Judgment." Jeff and Julie Westlake and Jeff Young posted video updates weekly on youtube updating on the recording process. Then, slowly, the video diaries were become less frequent. What happened? In late July, it was announced that Jeff Young has left due to "creative differences." James Lomenzo landed another gig with Lynch Mob.
I talked to Julie about these departures and the future of Hydrogyn. Julie and Jeff Westlake to the contrary, remain hopeful on their future and confident that the new album: "Judgment", will be a huge success. More...

There's an ongoing dispute about the sound quality of the Isis/Melvins split LP’s, which label Conspiracy Records claims is inferior. The label commented:
"We’re currently trying to get the pressing company to take their responsibility and after returning records to the pressing plant we are now sending a record to Hydrahead so they can check for themselves and put some pressure on the pressing plant. We’re very sorry for the delay and any inconvenience caused but we’d rather not send out broken records. We’ll keep you updated and will post more news as soon as we have heard back from Hydrahead."

Texas metallers Vesperian Sorrow have checked in with the following update about seeking a new second guitarist:
"Hails all! [HUDSON] here. JZD/Jerry Donahue is no longer a full-time member of Vesperian Sorrow. He has been contributing some killer guest lead work to the new album, but after its release we anticipate some heavy touring, and for that to be possible, a new guitarist is vital.
"Therefore... If you think you've got what it takes (i.e. your own equipment, financial margin for studio rent, a firm grasp on the neoclassical, a sharp aesthetic, a non-piece-of-shit attitude, etc.), please don't hesitate to drop us a line."
As was previously reported, Death of Desire posted a MySpace blog stating that vocalist Dawn Desiree had been kidnapped after a meeting with Perverse Productions. The Perverse Productions MySpace page has now been updated with the following statement denying the allegations:

"This douche-bag from Monterrey, MEX. who goes by the name of Morbid or also known as Pablo Camilo made us believe he was from Germany. Wannabe Nazi-Mexican. ppffft. If he feels like a man and wants to threaten us he would have stepped up last Thursday night.
"Pablo, We don't beat our women here in the states. Your girlfriend simply felt safer with us and and willingly left with us. Ask her and all 5 witnesses. You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?"

Finnish heavy metal band Children Of Bodom has revealed that producer Matt Hyde, who has previously worked with Hatebreed and Monster Magnet, is working with them on their new studio album, which currently remains untitled. The band has also finished recording the drums for the record. A message from drummer Jaska Raatikainen reads as follows:
"Ok folks, I´m done with my drum recordings. I need to do couple covers tomorrow morning but that´s always easy and fun. Recordings for me went good and I´m super excited about the new songs. They ARE killer. I´m sure you will love the new material. And yes, there´s gonna be nine new tracks on the album. That shouldn´t be a suprise... :-) Later I´m gonna add some videos from recording my drums."
Long defunct British thrash metal outfit Acid Reign will have their entire back catalogue remastered by producer Bill Metoyer and re-released through Lost And Found Records at the end of this year. Included in the reissues will be expanded booklets featuring archive photos, new sleeve notes on the making of each album and bonus material including the original Moshkinsten demo (remastered from the original master tapes), "Hangin’ On The Telephone" single, and Humanoia EP.
Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose has checked in with an update from the Carnival Of Madness Tour. His message reads as follows:
"It has been going great. We are kind of in the front of the middle of the line-up. So we are protected all over with bands before us and after us. It has been very cool to not to have to carry the weight. We have been headlining for so long. You have to carry that weight on the tour when you are doing that. It has been wake up, do some interviews, go to the venue and play for 45 minutes and grape some food out of catering and relax and have a few beers, watch TV and watch some bands. It has been really laid back for us. It has been a lot easier than what we have been used to. We are really close to a few of the bands on the tour. We get to hang out with them daily. It has just been real cool.
"We are doing a few of the new songs. It is kind of a short set. We got eight records. It is not easy to put anything together that is going to make everybody happy. We switch them around every few shows. To try and keep it fresh. We are doing a few new ones and then we will be headlining in October. Then we will be playing a lot of the new record and a lot of the old stuff too."
