Cauldron Posts New Song Online

Canadian metal trio Cauldron will release their long-awaited fifth studio album entitled "New Gods" on September 7 through Dissonance Productions in Europe and. For the follow up to their critically-acclaimed 2016 album "In Ruin", Jason Decay (lead vocals/bass), Ian Chains (guitar) and Myles Deck (drums) together with producer Chris Stringer (Timber Timbre, Wooden Sky) honed and recorded the songs at Union Sound in Toronto for what would become "New Gods". "New Gods", the group's fifth full-length studio record, once again promises a strong emphasis on songwriting and melody, complete with high-end organic production to match.

"I am very proud of the songwriting, performances and production on this one, and it is definitely the most confident I have been in a finished album of ours. It is dark, it's heavy and it has a very melodic sense of AOR. Most importantly, it still sounds very Cauldron. I'm pretty sure people who were into In Ruin will like this one just as much if not more!" says Decay.

High On Fire Reveals New Album Release Date

High on Fire release a new single today titled "Electric Messiah”, exclusively via NPR Music here. The new song serves as the title track off the band's all-new LP, which will be released on October 5th via Entertainment One (eOne).

"I had a dream about Lemmy," says Matt Pike, explaining the inspiration behind the title of High on Fire’s triumphant new "Electric Messiah." "When Lemmy was still alive I always got compared to Lemmy," the gravelly-voiced guitarist elaborates, "so I had this dream where he got pissed at me."

"He gave me a bunch of shit, basically, and was hazing me. Not that he didn’t approve of me, but like I was being hazed. The song is me telling the world that I could never fill Lemmy’s shoes because Lemmy’s Lemmy. I wanted to pay homage to him in a great way. And it turned out to be such a good title that the guys said we should call the album 'Electric Messiah.'" More...

Great White Drummer Speaks On Vocalist Split

In a recent interview with Listen Iowa, Great White drummer Audie Desbrow discussed the recent split with singer Terry Ilous, who had been in the band for seven years and the decision to replace him with Mitch Malloy. An excerpt from the interview reads as follows:

Q: There had been some grumblings online about Terry’s delivery of the songs that put you guys on the map with your original vocalist, Jack Russell. Some fans weren’t satisfied with what they were hearing. Did that play a part in this at all?

Desbrow: "The fans are very used to hearing Jack Russell’s voice in Great White. It’s very identifiable. With Terry, we could have gotten a Jack clone, but we didn’t. Terry fit the criteria of the music direction that we were going in very well. But some people thought we were actually trying to pass him off as Jack, which wasn’t our intention at all. It’s really hard after someone plays in the band for so long. You try to do the best interpretation of the phrasing of Great White. After a while, when you start to add your own style to it, it starts to stray away from what people want to hear."

“Some things don’t work out business-wise, so we had to part ways with Terry. There were differences of opinions, personality clashes. Certain things just don’t work out after time and you just have to move on. It’s one of those things that sadly has to happen in the music world. I actually got along with Terry well. He’s a great singer. But Mitch is great, too, and we look forward to working with him.”

Elderly Men Break Out Of Home To Go To Wacken

According to the website Deutsche Welle, two elderly men escaped from their nursing home this past Friday and were found enjoying themselves at three in the morning at the Wacken Open Air festival in Schleswig Holstein, Germany. Though a police spokeswoman claimed that the men were "disorientated and dazed," they were both reluctant to leave the event, which on the day the men attended featured performances from Judas Priest, Danzig, Behemoth, Hatebreed and Udo Dirkschneider among others.

They were eventually returned to the care home however, receiving a police escort and being taken back in a taxi and patrol car.

"They obviously liked the metal festival," police spokeswoman Merle Neufeld told public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk. "The care home quickly organised a return transport after police picked them up."

The thing is we wanted to continue the Demons & Wizards thing, but with Iced Earth and Blind Guardian, we're very busy people, and our schedules... it's just one of those times right now where the holes are lining up in the right way for us to be able to commit to shows next summer. So it's cool."
