Gotthard has announced the release of a new live album titled “Homegrown – Alive In Lugano“ on the 30th of September. On the 2nd of September, a previously unreleased track entitled ”The Train” with Steve Lee on vocals will be published online.
“Homegrown – Alive In Lugano“ contains a live recording of the band's concert on the 17th of July 2010 in Lugano. The show was one of the last concerts with vocalist Steve Lee, who tragically died during a motorbike trip through the U.S. on October 5th, 2010. Due to the sudden accidental death of Steve Lee, the CD's release was postponed.
“Lugano was where it all began and so the circle is closed of all that we've experienced with our friend Steve Lee,“ comments bassist Marc Lynn. “The memories of the past 20 years on stage with Steve are brought again to life intensively with this album. They reflect the memorable times that we were able to enjoy on the Mount Olympus of Rock'n'Roll.“
The concert in Lugano took place during the local HOG Rally, an annual event organized by Harley Davidson bikers. “Steve was warmer and more cheerful than he had been in a long time,“ guitarist Freddy Scherer remembers. “The chemistry between him and the audience couldn't have been more intense, despite the fact that there were more than 20,000 people standing on the piazza. It is a stroke of good luck that we recorded this memorable concert, for unfortunately it was one of the last ones with Steve.“
“Music has allowed us to travel round the whole world together during the last 20 years,“ guitarist Leo Leoni added. “In doing so, we've shared lots of unforgettable moments that rank among the best times of our lives. Anyhow, returning to Lugano has always been something special. It's the place we belong to and where we have strong and deep roots.” More...

This time around we wanted to give you a show from our homecountry Finland. The main show was filmed at the Teatria club in Oulu, Finland, last April. It showcases Sonata Arctica towards the end of the Days of Grays World Tour which started back in 2009. We played a total of over 180 shows in almost 40 countries during the tour.
"This will be a 2-DVD release with lots of bonuses, we'll have tour documentaries, making of's as well as music videos and bonus songs from our very own Sonata Arctica Open Air festival, held in our hometown, Kemi in August 2009. Wether you missed us or checked us out during this world tour, this DVD will be the complete guide to what we've been up to these past two years. I'm sure you all will enjoy watching this DVD as much as we’ve enjoyed making it. The Days of Grays World Tour has been absolutely fantastic and I'm very happy that we’ve managed to capture all the ups and downs on film. You'll know what I’m talking about when we get this monster package out!“

Blind Greed vocalist Clyde has announced that he's placing the band on hiatus. Here's what he had to say about it:
"It is with a heavy heart that I must inform everyone that Blind Greed is currently on an extended hiatus for an undetermined ammount of time. I'm moving in a different direction musically right now and feel that it would be best to step back and form something new rather than try to change Blind Greed into something that it isn't and thus tarnish the legacy of what we're known for here and abroad. I wish my brothers in Blind Greed the very best in their current and future endevors. I also look forward to working with my brothers in Blind Greed again should the opportunity present itself. Book the show and I will play it gentlemen."
Blind Greed was demoing songs for a potential fourth album. Omophagia, which split with its drummer earlier this year, has now issued the following announcement about recruiting new member Wild:
"We are glad to announce that we finally found a new drummer! In the last months we had an intensive time rehearsing with a few candidates to fill the huge gap which Lehmä had left at the beginning of this year. We felt that it would not be easy to find a suitable person but surprisingly we soon had the honor to rehearse with some very talented guys who were interested in the job. I couldn't imagine that there are so many young and talented death metal drummers in our tiny country. Thank you very much that you spent your time and sweat with us!
"But now to the most important part: It was not an easy decision to find out which drummer would suit us best but in the end the decision was quite clear: The guy that will take the seat behind the drums is called 'Wild,' and the name says it all!
"Wild can look back on a long metal-career and is already experienced in all important Deathmetal-skills. He's aged 27 and played in a few combos quite known here in Switzerland (Stoned Hill, Fragment of Symmetry). We are also very glad that he's as spoiled and nasty as we are and so he fits perfectly to the rest of the band!
"Wild convinced us by his professional way to learn the songs. He learned them all by himself by our drum and guitar tracks and just blew us away when he started playing them at our rehearsal-room. We really can't wait to hit the stages again and if the progress will be as fast as in the last weeks, this will be very soon!
"Be prepared to see Omophagia as brutal as never before! See ya guys!"
Norway's Cage of Torment has checked in with the following final update from the recording studio about the band's upcoming release:

"The track 'Deathmatch' is the only 'old' song we have rerecorded, everything else is new heavy and brutal stuff."

Either way Nikki might consider some additional insurance should he continue to jump into crowds at his age… More...
