Metal Blade Records recently teamed up with Alan Averill 'Nemtheanga' of Primordial for distribution of his label Poison Tongue Records. U.K. act Darkest Era has now issued the following update about signing to the label:
"It is with great pleasure that we can finally announce we have signed a worldwide deal with Metal Blade records! We have been working closely with them over the past few months in settling a deal, aided by Alan Averill of Primordial in his new A&R role for Metal Blade. We are wasting no time and will be recording our debut album on the 26th August, with a release date to fall approximately on the turn of the new year.
"The only details I can give so far are that there will be 8 tracks of the epic, soaring, celtic laden melancholy that we've been developing over the past few years. There will be a few re-recordings from our EPs, and one entirely acoustic track. It's a big step for us but one which we feel has come at the ideal time; we are really ready to step onto the international stage and forge on with the passion and fire that has led us this far.
"We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us so far: our Irish fans who have been behind us since the Nemesis days; all our European fans and those further afield who bought our CD's, who sent us many messages of support and have championed us in their respective countries; and to those we have met on our travels, shared a beer with and sang a song with. We will almost certainly be touring widely in support of this next year. Germany, Greece, Italy, we shall return! The rest of you, prepare for a heathen invasion!"

"Ideas have started flowing from the core of the band, and we are all kinda scratching our heads as to which song to use for the video. So we are asking you, the friends we have made all over the world, to tell us which song you would like most made into a video. Drop us a line, leave us a comment, or just post it right here. We are listening!"

Martin Arendal and Kristian Larsen of the Danish power metal band Manticora have recently recorded guest guitar solos that will appear on the debut album from Hexfire. Kasper Gram of Manticora had also previously laid down a guest bass solo for one of the tracks on the new album.
Hexfire guitarist Jacob Liszko commented on the guest appearances: "First we got an excellent bass solo from Kasper of Manticora, now we have storming guitar solos from Martin and Kristian! If I were to describe them as guitarists, I would call them real shredders! They’re so fast that it’s even hard to hear all the notes they play, ha ha. Moreover, all the harmonic guitar tracks they record are amazing. I’m really impressed.”
In 2007 Monster Magnet's Bob Pantella and Jim Baglino created their own alternate universe under the Riotgod banner, inviting guitarist Garrett Sweeny and the estranged vocalist known only as Sunshine to travel the cosmos with them. The band will release a self-titled album on August 17th through Metalville Records.
Drummer and founding member Bob Pantella spoke about the formation of Riotgod: "It was just Jim and myself, you know, just spending a lot of time on the road and we just had a lot of music that we wanted to create. With Monster Magnet, that's not really the case for us sometimes. That's more of Dave's thing, so we really just wanted to get together and do something a bit more on our own. There's a lot of time off and personally we like to work a lot so, the desire to do more began building up over the last couple of years.
"We wanted to try our own thing and call our own shots with musical direction and stuff. We talked about it for years and it took a long time to really find the right people and get going. I've always had my recording studio, so it was easy in that aspect but it was hard to find the right ingredients-you know, sounds, personalities and such. We know nothing's perfect but you want to get people into the same head space.
"My singer Sunshine, who I love, the guy is a crazy son of a bitch, but musically we're in the same place. His lyrics are amazing, and he's got a great voice. He can pretty much sing anything that you can think of. I give him the music, and by the next day, it's ready to be recorded. It gels with what I'm writing perfectly. This is a great band to take us to a different level. Being in Monster Magnet is an awesome opportunity to launch other things for us." More...

This is the most unrestrained and over the top collection of songs we’ve ever captured. We went in with the intent of creating a freak show of a record and we achieved it. People looking for a wrecking ball of an album will be happy. People looking for an album they’ll still hear new things in one year down the road will be happy. People going in with any preconceived notions of who we are and what we sound like are in for a surprise." More...

Fear Factory narrowly escaped a fire this morning that quickly engulfed their tour bus while in route to London. The fire reportedly stemmed from a back wheel tire before spreading throughout the double-decker coach.
Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares released the following comment: "We had just finished playing a sold out show in Sheffield and we were on our way to London. Everyone was asleep except for two of our crew. At about 3:30 a.m. the bus driver noticed smoke coming from the back right wheel. He stopped, jumped out and noticed a flame underneath the wheel well. He tried to extinguish it but the flames were too much. Everyone on the bus was woken up by one of our crew yelling 'Get everyone up and out of the bus.' Everyone grabbed their bags and ran off the bus. We stood on the side of the freeway going 'thank god we all made it out' until someone noticed our merchandise guy was still asleep on the bus. A good friend of ours ran back on the smoked-filled bus and got him out just minutes before the bus was completely in flames."
Cazares added: "Our eyes are burning and we were all coughing from the smoke. Some of us lost wallets, money, computers but that's not important compared to our lives. It only took about 20 to 30 minutes for the bus to be completely covered in flames. The fire trucks and the police finally arrived but it was too late to save anything on the bus. A coach bus picked us up and brought us safely to a nearby hotel. We found out only a short while ago that the trailer was saved where all our gear was. But the bus is just a metal frame on the side of the road."
Fear Factory is currently on tour in the UK continuing performances in support of their latest album, "Mechanize."

We’ve been working hard and it’s a huge encouragement to be able to share our music with the rest of the world and represent our country and region."
