"The Pighammer concept conjures up bizarre images. It’s about a mad plastic surgeon, with a pig fetish, that likes to convert hot chicks into pigs. It is the total opposite if what a plastic surgeon would do. He has this crazy hammer device made from a pig foot. The images of the surgery in the CD package are only a dark comedic visualization of the real theme of the album, which is my transformation."

Prog-metallers TesseracT have filled their calenders with future tour dates. Before embarking on a massive North American tour with Between the Buried and Me, the UK act hits the road for a European headlining tour. Recently, the band completed an Australian tour.
"Australia was a revelation! We won't lie, it's not easy to get 'down-under'. 25 hours trapped in a tin can, hurtling at 600 miles an hour, 40,000 feet in the air over land and sea with nothing but your fellow passenger's flatulence and airline 'food' for company is hell. But the end goal was SO worth it! We were amazed at the response in each town, especially Melbourne. You guys really made the gig amazing," comments bassist Amos Williams.
"So what's next for us this year? First, we have a European headliner - the Lowering the Tone Tour 2011, with Chimp Spanner and Uneven Structure. Secondly, we return to the US and Canada this October as part of the 'Saints and Sinners' North American Tour. This bill is insane. We're gonna have to really be on the ball every night as the other two bands are masters of tech. After us will be Animals As Leaders. Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes are probably the most exciting guitarists on the scene today. The pair are like aliens with super human skills and innovative ideas. Then headlining will be Between the Buried and Me...Intense and hugely energetic."
"We're so happy to be returning to the US and Canada re-visiting all our North American fans, and hopefully picking up a few new ones along the road!"

NYKTA has announced the signing of Finland's Graveborne for the release of the band's "Pure Negativity" album. A teaser for the album can be found below, and the label also commented on the band:
"‘Pure Negativity’ is the debut album of Finnish black metal outfit, Graveborne, founded in 2008 by guitarist Marchosias and drummer Pentele. Graveborne previously released one demo in 2009 entitled ‘Astride Over the Grave’, subsequently reissued on 10? vinyl by Floga Records. ‘Astride Over the Grave’ obtained very positive reviews, with the music described as raw, fast, and even catchy black metal reminiscent of Marduk, Gorgoroth, Impaled Nazarene, early Emperor and Immortal.
"2009 and 2010 saw Graveborne morph into a more hideous beast; Raato replaced Raivo on vocal duties, Graveborne performed an assortment of high-intensity live shows including Nummirock 2010, and then started to compose, rehearse and record the material for ‘Pure Negativity’.
"Musically, ‘Pure Negativity’ delivers a much wider spectre of darkness than ‘Astride Over the Grave’ due to the cohesive and synergistic involvement of Marchosias, Pentele, Brutalust and Kalmo in crafting the songs. The blast beats are still there, faster than before, and the atmosphere still raw and gripping; Graveborne’s evolution is evidenced through heightened song structure complexity and development. The lyrical themes of the album dwell in different forms of negativity such as anti-Christian and anti-religious revelations, loss of faith, hope and humanity, despair, depression and suicide."

"The following bands are completing the line-up of Mountains of Death 2011: Incinerate (US), Modus Delicti (IT), To Violently Vomit (US), and Putrid Pile (US).
"All those who are giving themselves the trouble to check out the links on the billing list might wonder about the myspace address of To Violently Vomit... behind this name stands nobody less than the singular, legendary and since 1992 acitve Disgorge from San Diego... or at least the greater part of them! All the rest about disturbances and stories about the band you can read at another place and would go beyond the scope of this note.
"Almost unavoidable, there are some line-up changes. The following bands are not able to play: Ancient Necropsy (CO) and Ingurgitating Oblivion (DE)"
Spawn of Possession vocalist Dennis Röndum recently conducted an interview with Metalbay.net to discuss the band's upcoming album, which will be the follow-up to "Noctambulant." An excerpt from the interview follows:
MB: What can fans expect to hear in the new album? What differences/similarities can we expect?
Dennis: I think this new album is quite an extension of the creativity that Spawn of Possession encompasses. In comparison to the previous releases it feels much broader and epic this time around. We’ve tampered a bit with structures and things like that just to mix it up and to bring more nuances into the music. The good old Spawn grooves are definitely still there but with a new set of twists and turns. Another major factor is that there have been some serious line-up changes since Noctambulant. Compared to the old setting we have three new guys in the band that consists of Erlend Caspersen on bass, Henrik “Morris” Schönström on drums and Christian Muenzner on guitar. The only originals are I and Bryss and I’ve stepped down from the drums to focus solely on the vocals. We’re right in the middle of recording this album so it’s kind of hard to describe it since it’s still unfolding in the studio. All I can say for sure is that this album will lift some eye brows and make some jaws drop when it hits the streets.
MB: Will the music still fall on the technical side?
Dennis: Well first of all I have to say that we’ve never put the technical aspect in front of the music. In other words we would never make a song or a riff abnormally technical just for the sake of it. We’re all about writing good solid music and the whole tech thing is just a part of our style since we don’t really hold back any tools. But to answer your question this album will generally be just as tech as anything we’ve done in the past, probably even a bit more here and there.More...
