NY based progressive metal band Vaura has completed work on new album "The Missing." Profound Lore Records comments:
"Following last year’s 'Selenelion' release (Weird Records), Vaura (comprised of vocalist/guitarist Josh Strawn from Religious To Damn, guitarist Kevin Hufnagel from Gorguts and Dysrhythmia, bassist Toby Driver of Kayo Dot and Maudlin Of The Well, and drummer Charlie Schmid) take their unique style of combining progressive metal and classic ‘80s goth/darkwave into more defined and dense territory with 'The Missing.'
"With a sound and aesthetic influenced by the darker and more brooding moments of the aforementioned styles when they came to fruition in the ‘80s, Vaura also incorporate sounds also reminiscing the likes of post punk, early ‘90s indie rock, and shoegaze respectively along with some intricate moments found on 'The Missing' that even hark back to the heyday of classic-era Queensryche and 'Grace Under Pressure' era Rush.
"As the next proper step succeeding 'Selenelion,' with 'The Missing' (captured at The Thousand Caves by Colin Marston) VAURA solidify and define their sound even more by becoming one of the more distinct and creative bands from the NY area."
To officially be released October 29th, the track listing for “The Missing” is as follows:

Prosthetic Records is pleased to announce the signing of British band Anacondas for an international, multi-album deal.
Stuart Hunter, guitarist and joint vocalist of the band, commented: "We are proud to announce that we have signed to Prosthetic and that our album ‘Sub Contra Blues’ will be released worldwide this autumn. We’re excited to be working with a great label who has put out albums from some of our favorite bands throughout the years. Thanks to all the people who have supported us and made this possible."
Prosthetic Records also issued this statement: "Anacondas formed in 2010 from the ashes of acclaimed English band Johnny Truant, who blazed their way through the noughties with a frenetic, forward-thinking take on modern metallic hardcore. During the final breaths of Truant, Hunter conceived a comparatively stripped-down, instrumental-based project that would be dense and progressively sludge-driven, balancing immense heaviness and delicate melody in equal measure. Reunited with brother and fellow ex-Truant James Hunter (bass), and with mutual friend Tim Newman on drums, the new project — Anacondas— became a fully realized band with all three sharing vocal duties in barbarous harmony. Nathan Afilalo comments: "Having been a band for about six years, we have long anticipated the great day where we could let our music take flight upon the winds of the world. With that in mind, Of Time and Chronic Disease is a summation of our music since it contains some of our very earliest songs to some of our latest. The album has to be taken as a whole, as the individual songs all represent a different facet of the whole that is our music. It's like a hydra, the beast can only truly be slain if you remove all of its heads and immerse yourself in the dark pools of its blood."

"Death unfolds…. We’re very excited to release Black Mask's self-titled debut full-length and once again throw some real anger in the face of this planets ugly population.
"Black Mask is a band from Western PA, USA who are taking things to another level, integrating elements of crust and grind along with other nasty, niche subgenres. Throughout, crushing guitar riffs brood with doom-metal meanness while high-pitched, intentionally dissonant noise-rock squeals ‘n’ whines giving the band a kind of caustic cruelty that almost makes you wonder if Black Mask really does want to make its audience members suffer just for being alive…
"Black Mask's self titled debut album contains the band's first 7” as well as the 'Lost Below' 7” (released on GTR Records). 100 will be pressed on colored vinyl and are available for mailorder only. Expected release date: October 3, 2013. Black Mask will be touring Europe with Eternal Sleep this coming October." More...

Tucson sludge deviants Godhunter has been at Arcane Digital Studios (Exhumed, Misery Index) with Ryan Butler (Landmine Marathon, Unruh) and the sessions are being used to construct the band's official full-length LP, "City Of Dust."

Today Exhumed is streaming rarities from the "Necrocracy" recording sessions. Illuminates band member Matt Harvey:
"Just like last time, when we entered the studio to record Necrocracy, our collective cup was runnething over. We knew the record would end up right around 35 minutes, but it wasn't clear just yet which tracks would be destined to end up as bonus material.
"It was a tough call, but 'The Beginning After The End,' and 'Not Yet Dead Enough' ended up as bonus material, as did the outro 'E Pluribus Mortem' that we worked up in the jam room only a few days before recording. We also came up with a short nasty one right before we entered the studio that became 'Chewed Up, Spit Out' and while we were tracking the drums we wrote another blaster, 'Go For The Throat.'
"We were originally trying to get Relapse to do a split of some kind with these two tracks, but it didn't come together and we thought they were too much fun to keep to ourselves, so you can enjoy them here. For those of you wishing we still wrote one minute songs, here you go! Think of Necrocracy as the malignant main dish and these morbid morsels as some superlative side dishes that should enhance your dining experience. Cheers, and enjoy! See you mutants on the road!"
