Pulverised Records is pleased to announce the latest addition to its roster of brutality: Malaysian death metal deviants, Lavatory. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Spawned in 2012, a five-song EP entitled 'Transgression' was issued earlier this Summer and showcases the band's unwavering penchant for raw, Swede-ian death metal as originally conjured by the likes of Entombed, Carcass and Dismember. Lavatory is currently working on their full-length debut. In the meantime, sample their delicious sonic decay below."
Notes Lavatory throat-slasher Muntah Ke Darah of the union with Pulverised: “It’s a dream come true for Lavatory to sign with Pulverised as we are the first Malaysian band offered with this opportunity.”
Adds Pulverised Records label manager Roy Yeo: “Lavatory caught us by complete surprise when we first heard them, and truth be told, there really aren’t many bands in the Southeast Asia region paying tribute to the elder statesmen of Swedish death metal! This sinister alliance between Lavatory and Pulverised Records will prove to be an interesting yet lethal one indeed. We cannot wait to hear how they will pick up from where they left off with the Transgression EP. Something tells me that a mixture of sick, crushing and rotten death metal is coming our way!”
Amidst a cluster of regional Summer tours, including recent performances throughout the Midwest and Southern U.S. and a show in Canada, Chicago’s orchestral epic doom outfit Earthen Grave will head east this week.
The band will play an early show at Acheron in Brooklyn, New York this Friday, preceded by a concert by bassist Ron Holzner’s other band The Skull with Eric Wagner at Saint Vitus Bar. The next day Earthen Grave will travel to Connecticut for a performance at Stoner Hands of Doom XII on Saturday alongside RoadSaw, Ichabod, Raw Radar War, Pilgrim, Earthride, Revelation, Pale Divine, Iron Man, Elder, War Injun and tons more at the four-day all-ages event. Earthen Grave will be unveiling a brand new track at the East Coast shows this weekend as well.
Earthen Grave will also be supporting Kill Devil Hill (featuring Rex Brown and Vinny Appice) Thursday Sept 13th at Chicago’s Double Door, and the performance is to be streamed live on Gigity.TV. Specifics will be posted on the band’s website shortly. Earthen Grave recently performed at the two-day Days Of The Doomed II Festival in Cudahy, Wisconsin alongside Solace, Blood Farmers, Earthride, Revelation, Argus and more.
The outfit then crossed into Canada and played a first international show, as part of the Music & Beyond Festival in Ontario where the band performed within a deconsecrated wood cathedral. Several weeks later as the group was set to play in New Orleans, the show was canceled en-route. Making last-minute arrangements, EG ended up joining the bill at a raging, beer-soaked CD release party for Hipsterectomy in Austin, and also landed a spot on Ripple Festival in Dallas where the infamous Sherman from Earthride joined for two songs, and guitarist Jason Muxlow met one his biggest metal influences when he busted a guitar string mid-set and John Perez stepped out of the crowd to fix it. Kylesa is set to release “From The Vaults, Vol. 1,” a twelve-song collection featuring unreleased and alternate versions of songs spanning the band's catalog, including a cover of Pink Floyd's "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun," on November 16th (November 20th in North America).
“This project has been a labor of love,” explains guitarist/singer/producer Phillip Cope. “We have spent over a year going through old songs, covers, etc. and collected those we felt went well together; remixing and finishing them up. We didn't want to release something just thrown together so we put a lot of thought and time into it. I am really happy about how this came together. I think it is a good representation of Kylesa's different styles from early on to present day."
The track listing is:

2. Inverse **
3. 111 Degree Heat Index ***
4. Between Silence and Sound II ***

Half instrumental/half Vocals, the new album is thematically centered around the Japanese folk legend of the three wise monkeys ("see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil") and further refines the stylistic contrasts and progressive spirit characterizing his 2011 sophomore release "Rebirth."
Some of the special guests to appear on "Three Wise Monkeys" include keyboard player Kevin Moore (ex-Dream Theater/OSI/Chroma Key), singer Göran Edman (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen/Vindictiv/Time Requiem) and drummer Mark Cross (Outloud/ex-Helloween/Firewind), along with many others.

Brisbane based groove/death metallers In Death have announced their upcoming as yet untitled EP is set for release in January 2013. The EP will feature six tracks, five of all new material, and a
re-recorded version of an old fan favorite. Vocalist Kell "Krugga" Pressnell comments:
“Why a press release for a release date that’s so far away?” We really feel and hope that this announcement and probably more so, the final product will have a real and positive flow-on effect for Australian metal acts and their endeavours to make world class, kick ass metal music. We hope to re-inforce that Aussie bands belong on the world metal map!"
Bassist Danika Ruohonen adds, "We are extremely excited and proud to announce that our new material will be mixed and mastered by none other than the legendary Logan Mader! This man is, in part, responsible for many of the biggest and best metal albums over the last 18 plus years."
Vocalist Krugga also says: “We’ll wrap up pre-production within the next week, so the next phase is where the real work begins. Having Logan on board is such a massive boost, and rather than feeling any pressure, this will spur us on to create an absolute fucking monster release! To be only the second Australian band to have the opportunity to work with Logan is a huge honour for us. We just can’t wait for people to hear this new material, and hear what we can really do! We’ll be posting more updates, as they occur to our website."
As was previously announced, Washington, DC-based heavy metallers A Sound of Thunder are now offering their new "Queen of Hell" EP exclusively through Kickstarter.com. The EP serves as a follow up to the 2012 studio album "Out of the Darkness" (reviewed here) and teaser for the band's next studio album "Time's Arrow," due in spring 2013.
"Queen of Hell" was produced by Kevin "131" Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept) at Assembly Line Studios in Virginia. According to guitarist Josh Schwartz, "We had too much great material for our next album and weren't willing to shelve it, so the EP was a no-brainer. It gives us a great reward to offer the fans who support our fundraising campaign for the next album, and reduces the wait time for new music from the band."
A teaser clip for "Queen of Hell" can be found below. Benedictum vocalist Veronica Freeman makes an appearance on the EP, performing a duet with vocalist Nina Osegueda on the title track. "Veronica is a real metal monster of a vocalist, and has the power and presence to deliver this kind of classic metal. She is a true queen of metal and together with Nina, your speakers might just explode!" said Schwartz.
Freeman commented: "Sometimes I get asked to do a special project and I have to give it a bit of thought, but with Nina, having performed with her on stage before and knowing how she can
'bring it' I knew it was not only going to be a lot of fun, but that it would be some kick ass music to work with. It was a real honor to be asked to work with her and A SOUND OF THUNDER. Hmmmmm, hope to do something more in the future... you never know!!" More...

Ripple Music has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with C.F.A. to release the band's debut full-length album:
"Welcome to the world of Stoner-core! It's blistering in intensity. Riff-mad in execution. Blissed out in stoner madness and amped up in hardcore fury. Stoner-core is a brutal assault of stoner retro-rock mastery with the attitude of pure punk. And C.F.A. are on the front line of this mutated beast of rock fury.
"Now, Tacoma, WA-based hard rockers, C.F.A. (Cody Foster Army) and Ripple Music are going to unleash the power of Stoner-core onto the masses. Liv Kristine has posted a teaser for the song "Silence" online, which can be heard via Facebook. Liv also commented:
"Dear Fans & Friends, here's the teaser of the track 'Silence' for you! It was composed in one night. Initially there was this very interesting piano tune, by which the song begins, which really made my musical heart fall in love immediately. It is, to be honest, one of the most interesting compositions I've been part of.
"Moreover, it was truly emotional to record it because this song tells my own story. The way it builds up in its structure and emotional expression is quite unusual, too. It was recorded in one complete take to optimize the emotional effect.
"Thematically the song is strongly bound to a certain state of being: I imagine 'silence' to be that comforting feeling which takes you deeper into you soul-life where you face your emotions, thoughts, dreams and past experiences. 'Silence in the deep' conveys both the feeling of freedom when floating under water, hearing your heart beat, your own breath, and also the wish to be in balance with yourself, knowing who you are and what life is worth. My inspiration comes from the sound of water, which is especially dear to me since I grew up by the sea. I hope you find your own 'silence' in this song." More...

Metalcore act Lydia Ayer has issued the following announcement about parting ways with vocalist Nick Valaskatgis:
"Hey everyone, I (Nick) will no longer be in the band. I would like to thank all those people who supported us, screamed into the mic, connected to a lyric or went out of their way to compliment me or the rest of the band. It seriously made making music worth it.
"Unfortunately, I won't be able to balance that and school. I have to put my full concentration on a dream I had since I was 10. I can tell you this crew of guys (my best friends) are working to the bone writing truly amazing music right now, it literally blows Cliffhanger out of the water.
"There is not a drop of bad blood, these guys will always be my brothers and this is what they are born to do. Sadly, I will not be performing a last show but I will be on a final song.
"Always chase your dreams, don't let anyone control who you are or dictate your life! Thank you all so much for everything."
While Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe is back home in America after five weeks in prison in the Czech Republic, his legal problems are far from over. Manslaughter charges are still hanging over Blythe and at some point over the next few months he will have to return to Prague and stand trial.
Faced with continuing massive legal bills, Lamb of God has decided to create an eBay auction of equipment and memorabilia to raise money for Randy’s legal bills. All equipment was either used on tour or in the recording studio or in a video. The auction features items provided by all five members of Lamb of God.
In addition, a number of musicians have offered equipment to be used in the auction. Guitars have been donated by Machine Head’s Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel as well as Slash and Five Finger Death Punch. Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Five Finger Death Punch’s Chris Kael have each contributed a bass and the members of Five Finger Death Punch also have contributed a signed skateboard. The various auctions can all be found at this location.
Justice Now, the site set up for donations, will remain open for those wishing to donate to Randy’s defense fund. The band appreciates all of the support Randy has received since his arrest on June 28th and is thankful for all of the donations that have been made in these tough economic times. As stated before, without the fans, there is no Lamb of God.

Swedish melodic death metal merchants Zonaria had been quiet in their camp up until late. In the years after 2008's "The Cancer Empire," the band took time out to reflect on how they wanted things done. Zonaria's last album was rushed to make the release date schedule, something the band wishes it had more time with. On 2012's "Arrival of the Red Sun" on Listenable Records, the group gave itself all the time it needed in the production process to release an album with no misgivings.
Once again the band enlisted Jonas Kjellgren of Scar Symmetry, whom it had went with on the first album. Now in the midst of filming a video for the track "Silent Holocaust," (a song which is streaming over at this location), Zonaria took the time to give us a brief chat about the band. The band's bassist Max Malmer, who was a sessionist until joining full time recently, shared his thoughts on Zonaria's path with the new album. More...
