After a year of touring and promoting sophomore album "Rollin" (reviewed here), Texas Hippie Coalition recently headed into the studio to give a song from the album a little shake-up. The song, "Beg (The 420 Recording)," has been re-recorded and remastered, giving it a completely different sound from the original version.
"While on tour, playing songs from the album night after night, one of the tunes from Rollin’ began to shift forms," says vocalist Big Dad Ritch. "So we went into the studio between shows and re-recorded Beg - taking a different approach this time. It turned out even better than we expected, and the label decided to throw it's weight behind the track and get it out to the fans."
Guitarist Randy Cooper adds, "The song is a favorite from the album. Fans so far have really dug the 420 version at our shows."

Nevada based blackened death metallers Blasphemous Creation have lifted the lid on their upcoming second full-length release "Battle Of The Ancients." The band now has 9 songs completed for the new album, which is the follow up to the 2009 debut "Diabolical Kingdom."
The album will be released on San Francisco based label Apocrypha Records, and Blasphemous Creation will enter Metal Works Studio in Folsom, CA to record with Josh Williams at the controls. Cover artwork is being done by Tony Koehl, who is known for his cover art of The Black Dahlia Murder's "Deflorate" album as well as covers for several underground death metal bands.
According to the band, the story at the heart of the album focuses on the Sumerian gods, the Anunnaki, who are actually flesh and blood extraterrestrials from a planet called Nibiru. Blasphemous Creation commented on the story: "Thousands of years ago when their planet's atmosphere began to disappear they came to the Earth to mine for gold in order to create an artificial atmosphere of gold particles for their home planet. They genetically engineered human beings as a slave race to do the work not just on Earth but on multiple planets. 'Battle Of The Ancients' tells the tale of how the 'Gods' waged war against an advanced race of humans they created called the Plejaren on a planet called Erra. They freed themselves from the tyranny of the Anunnaki only to be wiped out in a vicious battle to the death. Afterwards the 'Gods' returned to Earth claiming it as their new home as their world Nibiru had become uninhabitable. In a lust for power they fought against one another for supremacy and control of Earth and the other planets."
"Battle Of The Ancients" is expected to be released in December, followed by a tour to promote the album. Further details will be announced as they are made available.

Metal Hammer recently interviewed U.K. thrashers Evile about forthcoming release "Five Serpents Teeth," which is scheduled for release this September through Earache Records.
When asked whether the new LP will take the band to a new level, Drummer Ben Carter stated "We’re all really proud of it – on the other albums there have always been little niggles and cases of ‘Should we have done this, could we have done that?’, but we were so much more prepared this time around, and the feeling of the band was so positive going into the studio that it made everything easy. That in turn has led to something that far surpasses anything we thought this band could achieve. That’s why we’ve all got these massive cheesy grins on our faces! It’s the pinnacle of what we’ve achieved.”
Carter was also asked whether the new LP will affect the band's relationship with the "thrash revival" to which he replied: "“Some people are gonna hate us for it, we know that, but we don’t care. We write stuff for us, and we want to go forwards. What’s the point I writing the same album five times? That doesn’t prolong your career at all.”

SPV/Steamhammer announced that it has signed the legendary New York metal band Riot:
"Few bands deserve to be talked about in such revered terms as Riot.
"Bursting through from New York City at the end of the Seventies with three ground-breaking albums on the trot (‘Rock City’, ‘Narita’ and ‘Fire Down Under’) Riot quickly became one of the biggest cult metal bands in the world. Stunning performances in the UK at the first ever Castle Donington Festival in 1980 and Port Vale the following year, and support slots with Sammy Hagar in Europe and AC/DC in the United States cemented their reputation as the hottest ticket to see.
"With line-up changes knocking their momentum and the Eighties developing into a Thrash-fest a new-look Riot bounced back in 1988 with the widely-acclaimed ‘Thundersteel’. Although the faces might have looked unfamiliar, with only guitarist Mark Reale now left from the band’s formative years, the aggression and musicianship remained unrivaled and unchallengeable. With Tony Moore's distinctive vocals, the muscle and might of bassist Don Van Stavern and drummer Bobby Jarzombek powering the songs along, and Reale’s precision playing Riot were reborn, and followed ‘Thundersteel’ two years later with the jaw-dropping ‘The Privilege Of Power’, an inspiring and at times truly epic album. However, by this time the music world was turning into a very different place, and Riot found themselves struggling against a tide of apathy. Reale continued to guide the ship through the next two decades, delivering albums of consistent, quality metal, culminating in 2006’s ‘Army Of One’ – a true statement of intent, as if one were needed.
"But the army of one is an army of five once more as RIOT’s classic ‘Thundersteel’ and ‘Privilege…’ line-up has re-united, adding guitarist Mike Flyntz who played in the live band at that time. Signing with SPV/Steamhammer for all territories except Japan, Riot will release their new album 'Immortal Soul' on October 28th in Germany, October 31st in Europe and early November in the US and Canada.
Riot have also been confirmed as special guests on the first leg of HammerFall’s European tour this winter. The tour kicks off on 26th October in Copenhagen, Denmark, and ends for the five-piece metal machine in Cologne, Germany, on 18th November. This will be the first time the legendary ‘Thundersteel’ and ‘The Privilege Of Power’ line-up of Tony Moore (vocals), Mark Reale (guitar), Mike Flyntz (guitar), Don Van Stavern (bass) and Bobby Jarzombek (drums) has played in Europe on a full tour, after the band’s celebrated one-off show at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2009.
"Olly Hahn, A&R at Steamhammer, says: 'Mark, Tony, Don, Bobby and Mike are really fired up once more, and "Immortal Soul" will be a true successor to the legacy of ‘Thundersteel’ and ‘Privilege…’. Classic metal will never die, and who did it better than Riot?'
