Chicago cult progressive avant-jazz metal band Yakuza has completed work on a sixth full-length album, titled “Beyul.” Profound Lore Records commented:
"Seen as one of the most underrated, distinct, and unique American metal bands of our time, Yakuza have always been synonymous with music eclecticism; the band creating a volatile yet searing hybrid of pillaging progressive metal, jazz, and grindcore. Through the extreme shape shifting musical transitions, one of the most defining characteristics of Yakuza is of course the vocal delivery of renaissance metal artist/musician Bruce Lamont, and even moreso his incorporation of saxophone into the mix of the music. A trait that at the time when Yakuza began to use said instrument in metal, and the way Lamont incorporated the saxophone, it was something unheard of.
"'Beyul' (check out the significance here) continues the path of 2010’s triumphant 'Of Seismic Consequence' and continues to take Yakuza’s sound beyond the trodden path they laid down since their 2001 debut 'Amount To Nothing.' When 'Of Seismic Consequence' was released, the band’s first endeavor with Profound Lore Records, Yakuza would generate a new awareness for themselves never before experienced and with 'Beyul,' the band will continue to gain more recognition with one of their most daring, epic, and commanding offerings yet." "With Vader's last record we're gonna move to Australia/New Zealand (at the end of October), China, Taiwan and - again - South America (in November) and finaly to the USA in early Spring 2013.
"Before we'll start working on the next record (under the title 'Straight To Hell'), we're gonna remind Vader's 3rd album 'Black To The Blind' from 1997 as a whole! The tour named BACK TO THE BLACK will include - besides the mentioned record - quite many different songs from a variety of albums on the 70 min. long set.
"We start in December in Poland and Czech Republic. At the beginning of 2013 we will tour with the same set on Western Europe, Scandinavia and Baltic lands too. More details soon! Stay in tune, stay Vader'ized!"
Following a tour of the West Coast of the United States at the end of 2011, including a devastating performance at Rites of Darkness III, Australia’s epic doom sorcerers Mournful Congregation will return to The States in the weeks ahead.
The new tour will see Mournful Congregation returning to the U.S. on an eleven-date trek erupting out of Seattle on September 14th and surging its way down the West Coast, and ending in Denver on September 28th. The Adelaide-based Mournful Congregation will be joined by Colorado blackened doom act Velnias as direct support for all dates, and Tim Call from Aldebaran will be sitting in on drums for MC on this tour. Additionally, a limited edition screen-printed tour poster with exclusive art by illustrator David D’Andrea will only be available at these eleven dates.
This new burst of touring precedes a series of Mournful Congregation reissues, as the band’s current stateside label home 20 Buck Spin will be reissuing "Tears From A Grieving Heart," "The Monad Of Creation" and "The June Frost" full-lengths exclusively to North America. All three of these back catalog releases will be released on October 16th on CD and digital download.

Whyzdom, which was covered in the French edition of our "Unearthing the Metal Underground" column, has issued the following announcement about signing with Scarlet Records:
"We are very excited to announce that Whyzdom has signed a deal with one of the most important growing european label : Scarlet Records. It's a great honor to be part of their roster, along with such names as Shaman, Vision Divine, Eldritch, Labyrinth, Royal Hunt, just to name a few! We are ready to work hand in hand to push our new album 'BLIND?,' and make it available to a wider audience throughout the world. The 'Blind?' release date will be announced very soon. Stay tuned!"
Scarlet Records also commented: "Following the acclaimed debut 'From The Brink Of Infinity', Whyzdom have signed a deal with Scarlet Records and are proud to present 'Blind?', their new album. The band, which is known for their own signature approach to Symphonic Metal, blend once more intricate orchestral parts (including all the subtleties of strings, winds, brass, classical percussions, piano, harp etc.) and a real choir with the power of Heavy Metal.
"Through a coherence that hides the inherent complexity of this genre, Elvyne Lorient's passionate melodies immediately stick into your mind, conveying pure emotions right from the very first note she sings. The album title not only refers to the blindness of people towards what's happening around them, but also to the fact that we, as humans, often deliberately choose to be blind in many uncomfortable circumstances, which eventually lead us on the wrong path of life. 'Blind?' was produced by Vynce Leff, recorded and mixed in Paris at Powermania Studio and mastered by Mathieu Gillon and Vynce Leff at 120dB Studio. The stunning artwork is the result of a collaboration between X-Nihilo Design, Les Créations Vultus and Florent Cuaz."
German melodic dark metallers Autumnblaze have announced their union with Pulverised Records. Spawned in 1995, Autumnblaze released four full-length albums and two EPs before laying the band to rest in 2006 in search of other musical endeavors.
The band ultimately reformed just two years later to release the "Perdition Diaries" long player in 2009. Latest full-length, "Every Sun Is Fragile," will drop later this year via Pulverised Record.
States Autumnblaze drummer Arisjel: "After we had recorded the ultimate Autumnblaze record this Spring, it was obvious that we would need a really passionate label to promote this new album worldwide with enthusiasm and energy. Calvin [Chiang] and Roy [Yeo] from Pulverised were totally excited about our new material and we are proud that the label will release our brand new studio album.”
“Expect a various blend of epic/melancholic metal and rock,” he continues of the new material. “These are some of the most ambitious songs we’ve ever written and everything was captured by the amazing production of our friend Charles Greywolf (Powerwolf, Flowing Tears)." More...

Today HeathenHarvest.org premieres the second new Hexvessel track, "A Letter in Birch Bark." The track hails from Hexvessel's forthcoming second album, "No Holier Temple," set for release on September 7th via Svart Records. Check out the song at this location.
The new album's front cover (below) is by the artist Bastian Kalous and represents the reverence to the native forest and nature that Hexvessel wishes to raise awareness and preservation of. The themes of the album "are inspired by the work of great men like Scottish-American naturalist and preservationist John Muir and more recent radical environmental advocates Dave Foreman and Howie Wolke," discussing the definition of what makes something holy and sacred.
Frontman and founder Mat McNerney says of the album: “The songs were written specifically to be channeled by a group. This is the sound of a cult, all focused on summoning the same magic, joined in prayer, haunted by the same demons. We actively pushed for a new way to evolve our sound. I purposely strove to make this album a calculated move-on from Dawnbearer. This isn't about using symbols of the occult. This is about a way of living that returns the old gods to their rightful place. We're a family that worships nature through word and sound. We hope you will join us." More...

The child on the video represents the new cthulhu's followers who will start to spread the word across the seas and upon them."
Obstinate Music Group and Sidestep Studios have released the first single from 9 Years Denied - a music project put together by producer Scott Moore from Nashville, TN. Scott (aka “Pighead”) is a producer engineer at Sidestep Studios, and owner of the record label Obstinate Music Group, all located in Nashville.
The "Obsession" single features special guest Rob Rock (Impelliteri, Driver) on vocals. You can listen to the song via Reverbnation or in the player below.
“When I first wrote the song many years ago, I actually had Rob in mind to sing the song. I was very fortunate that he was available and willing to provide the vocals for the song. Rob is an amazing singer and nailed the song perfectly,” says Moore.
Scott penned the song and played the guitars and bass tracks for the song. Drums were provided by Tony Morra, “the easiest session drummer in Nashville to work with…” according to Moore. More...
Stockholm's Faceshift is recording a new album, with a few of the tracks from the upcoming sophomore release having already been mixed by musical mastermind Lars Chriss (Lion's Share).
Faceshift's personnel roster is a fascinating one: the rhythm guitarist and bass player are both death metal musicians originally (Eternal Oath and Godphobia), the drummer plays in Swedish prog metal band Seventh Wonder, and the vocalist brings a melodic/power element to the table while the lead guitarist adds a really bluesy touch to the mix.
“Combining all those influences,” explains drummer Stefan Norgren, “could have proven a huge challenge, but in fact, once we started writing these new songs, everything fell right into place from the get go. The result is a handful of damn heavy, riff driven tracks, with BIG choruses and tons of cool vocal harmonies. I’d say Faceshift will be well received by fans of such diverse bands as Pantera, Mustasch, Alice In Chains, Symphony X and Dio alike.”
Efferus is about to embark upon a 6 date tour of the UK, and the band has also released a new video for "Katfish," which comes from the band's upcoming "Born to Be" EP. Check out the Richard Slater directed clip below.

As Finnish gothic rock band, The 69 Eyes, prepares to release its tenth album "X," the band has also now announced an upcoming graphic novel. The 69 Eyes has issued the following press release:
"It is with great pleasure that gothic boutique publisher, Seraphemera Books & Music, dares to reveal a little bit more of the band’s history than many are aware...or might like to know... Pieced together from a secret story hidden in six of the band’s songs, and certainly confirmed from hints dropped in countless articles and quotes, we bring you the tale of the formation of The 69 Eyes that you would never find on Wikipedia or in the bio section of any record company’s website."
“When we released our first ever 7” single in 1990, it had a 4-page mini comic book enclosed,” commented lead vampire Jyrki69. “In that comic The 69 Eyes were represented as a vampire rock band, and the daughter of Van Helsing came to pay me a visit to the backstage - armed with a wooden stake! Now some two decades later we will finally have our own comic book. The song remains the same - according to a folklore we are real vampires. How else could we have played this long?"
Book 1 will be available this upcoming October, followed by a book being released each following month for two months.

Finnish forerunners of melancholic dark metal, Amorphis, recently announced that they will enter the studio in September to record their yet-untitled 11th album. The follow-up to 2011’s "The Beginning Of Times" (reviewed here) will be produced and mixed by Hypocrisy and Pain mastermind Peter Tägtgren.
“We had to face the fact that if we want to develop our music and sound we need a producer who has a vision and whom we can accept as an authority,” commented Amorphis guitarist and founding member Esa Holopainen. “I know that we’re not the most flexible guys when it comes to letting outsiders into our camp for telling us how to do things. We spent one evening at our management office, talking about the right producer and the recording sessions in general. As usual, the best decisions are not far to seek. We've been talking to Peter about him producing Amorphis for ages. I think the first time we spoke about this was when we met first at the Nuclear Blast festival tour in 1994, and it was in Helsinki around a year ago when we last speculated about the idea. We've been following Peter's career - he's developed as a musician and especially as a producer over the years. Plus he's one of the true survivors from the 90's death metal scene who is still around just like us, so we share kind of an old school mental level.”
The recordings are set to take place in the famous premises of Petrax Studio in Hollola and 5K Studios in Helsinki. Esa explains: “We’ve decided to record in Finland so that Peter can come here to escape to Petrax in the countryside with us, in order to record all the drums plus some additional lines. Later on, we’ll continue in Helsinki at 5K Studios to lay down the rest of the material. The mixing will be done with Peter in the Swedish Abyss Studios. We’ll keep you posted about how the sessions proceed!” More...

Minnesota-based outfit Ambassador Gun has signed with Prosthetic Records. “We are fucking psyched to be a part of the Prosthetic roster,” stated the band. “This is a reputable and integral label in heavy music with amazing bands, and we’re grateful for the opportunity.”
You can check out Ambassador Gun by streaming or downloading the track “Wounded Knee” off of the band's forthcoming Prosthetic debut -- a mix of grindcore with death metal-infused thrash, blended with some punk and crust elements -- in the player below or at the Prosthetic Records Soundcloud page.
Ambassador Gun, whose name stems from a certain style of sunglasses for pilots, was formed by high school buddies Tim Sieler and Luke Olson. After having both played in similar punk and metal bands throughout the mid-'90s, the pair relocated to Minnesota in 2000. "From there," Olson recalls, "we started to write a lot of psychedelic, experimental metal in the vein of Neurosis and Today Is The Day and somehow blended it with the stylings of Slayer and old-school Hatebreed."
This led to the 2007 release of a first EP, “The Streets Have Eyes” (This Dark Reign Recordings). It was not until 2009, however, that the band released a first full-length studio album, “When In Hell,” through Pangea Recordings/Relapse Records. “We had a new enthusiasm to write short, grind–punk-metal songs,” said Olson. After a few line-up changes, drummer Patrick Ruhland joined the band for the release of the 2010 EP “Fear and Coercion." Olson stated, “This guy is a blastbeat metronome. Writing, demoing and recording have been amazing!” More...
Today Vision Of Disorder discloses another new single from the band's pending full-length, "The Cursed Remain Cursed," in the form of a video for the album’s second track, “Set To Fail.” Check out the video below or over at MetalInjection.net here. "The Cursed Remain Cursed" is due out on September 18th, 2012.
Stated guitarist Matt Baumbach: "’Set To Fail’ is a song that was literally finished the day before we went into the studio. [Mike] Kennedy showed up with this insane riff and it all came together very fast. This record is crazy in that some songs took three years and others took three days. It's by far one of our strongest tracks ever in my opinion and its gonna be insane live."
Vocalist Tim Williams added: “Set To Fail” was the last song to come together for The Cursed Remain Cursed writing sessions. When the track was played back over the studio speakers it was clear from the first thirty seconds we had a monster on our hands. The track represented everything VOD was, is and will be. All the elements and chaos VOD has to offer is within the track. When our friend Kirk Farrington approached us for a video shoot there was no doubt in our minds that this song would be it. Lyrically, the utmost honest and venomous track on the record, coming from a journey through the several levels of a personal hell so deep, that even the sun could cast no shadows.” More...
