Swedish metallers Watain will embark on "The Wild Hunt" next month, as the latest full-length excursion from the black metal masters comes out August 19th/20th.
Contacting Metalunderground.com via phone, Watain vocalist Erik told us all about the coming release (review to be published soon), as well as how this album channels 15 solid years of the band's experiences into one eclectic offering.
Read the full interview below, in which Erik discusses getting a bit too much into the GG Allin spirit and breaking his leg in an altercation, the looming presence that spurs on his music ("It’s this thing that you know could devour you in an instant if it wanted to, but instead of devouring you it takes you and speaks through you") and a taste of the horror to expect at upcoming live shows ("People will either like it very much or they will run away in tears"). Deserters will be hitting the studio this weekend with producer Kyle Black (Alpha & Omega, Shai Hulud) to begin recording a new EP titled "Try To Feel."
When speaking on the follow-up to 2012's "The Slow Rhythms of a Dead-Beat," guitarist Will O'Bryan stated that "Try To Feel" represents where the band is at mentally, as a band and individuals.
"Realizing that there is nothing left for us in the cities that saw us change from resident to visitor, we wanted to make an EP that could expresses that mindset, sonically," he explained. Adding, "Prepare yourself for the ugliest Deserters record that you've ever heard. No holds barred, honest music by dishonest people."
The 6-song EP will be released in early 2014 through Mediaskare Records.

In celebration of the band's 25th anniversary, New Orleans act EyeHateGod is pleased to announce three very special performances next month.
The ruckus begins September 13th, where EyeHateGod will return to the Ottobar in Baltimore for the first time since 2009, alongside New York Hardcore progenitors Agnostic Front and Cro Mags and the original lineup of Los Angeles crossover legends Final Conflict.
That same weekend, EyeHateGod will cause maritime chaos for the second time as part of The Rocks Off Boatshow. Confirmed dates are listed below.

Today Revolver is hosting the premiere of "Tomorrow," taken from infamous Santa Cruz hardcore act Bl'ast!
The track is pulled from a recently discovered lost recording session and can be heard below. The following press release was also issued about the upcoming Bl'ast! release "Blood:"
"Earlier this year the members of Bl’astunearthed vintage master tapes, and upon digging into the vat, discovered an entire album’s worth of material that was never released. Additionally, the recordings were from a rare lineup in the band’s lineage, being the only recordings ever made while short-lived second guitarist William Duvall -- Neon Christ, and currently the vocalist for Alice In Chains -- was a part of the Bl’ast! family. To help resurrect the deteriorated recordings, Southern Lord recruited fellow Bl’ast! maniac Dave Grohl, who completely remastered/mixed the tapes at his famed 606 Studios, on the legendary Neve console as featured in the recent Grohl-produced documentary Sound City. Now fully harnessed and ready to hit the streets as Blood! -- the first Bl’ast! album to see release since their 1989 Take The Manic Ride LP -- this long-lost collection of prime, influential skate/surf hardcore punk anthems will become available in North America on September 3rd on Southern Lord.
"Formed in 1982, Bl’ast! released their debut album, The Power of Expression in 1985, scorching audiences everywhere with their unique and innovative, technical and boundary-free style of raging hardcore punk. This caught the attention of SST Records who released the band's second album, It’s In My Blood, in 1987, as well as their third LP, Take The Manic Ride in 1989. Bl’ast!'s wide-eyed, ambitious approach and intense perseverance became an influence for many bands to come. Shortly after the release of Take The Manic Ride, the band broke up and their story was buried by time and dust....UNTIL NOW!" More...
Scar the Martyr's "Blood Host," the first song from the group's self-titled debut due out October 1st, is streaming now courtesy of Revolver. Check out the song below.
The band features Joey Jordison (Slipknot) on drums, Kris Norris (Darkest Hour) and Jed Simon (Strapping Young Lad, Tenet) on guitars, Kyle Konkiel on bass, and Henry Derek on drums. Scar the Martyr will embark on its first US tour in one week with Danzig and Huntress.
Svart Records and 20 Buck Spin today announce the joint release of "Valonielu," the new LP from Finland’s Oranssi Pazuzu. The following press release was issued about the album:
"A known entity to the most attentive and adventurous of black metal fans, Valonielu offers a vibrant, colorful cataclysm of psych, space rock and black metal that cannot be easily categorized as any one particular genre or any single influence. At once celestial and boundless yet malevolent grim and harsh, Valonielu is certain to bring Oranssi Pazuzu to new levels of importance within the modern music scene.
"Oranssi Pazuzu's previous album Kosmonument was received with great critical acclaim as a brilliant album by a band developing into something all their own. On Valonielu the band has sharpened their songcraft into a more succinct and salient statement, formidably invoking ‘90s era Darkthrone, yet boldly reaching farther out into the multiverse of the psych and ExperiMental side they have always inhabited. From the beginning chainsaw riff of album opener 'Vino Verso' ('Askew Sprout') to the climactic, world downfall of final track 'Ympyra On Viiva Tomussa' ('A Circle Is A Line In The Dust'), O.P. masterfully establish a cosmology all their own.
"Having found a new home on Svart Records in Europe and 20 Buck Spin in North America, Oranssi Pazuzu breathe ascendant new life into an often stagnant present day black metal scene. 'Valonielu' will be released on both the LP & CD formats, by both labels, with release dates of October 11th in Europe and October 15th in North America respectively. Live show announcements and more album news will follow in the coming months."

Portugal's Thee Orakle has issued the following announcement about deciding to call it a day:
"We want to inform our friends, fans, and followers that the band Thee Orakle officially came to an end.
"The decision happened this week, but it was only the conclusion of an ending that had already been planned in last September. For so long on a standby mode, there were many different feelings from artistic incompatibilities and even personals between its members, negativity involved or even bad luck and obstacles that seemed to follow any of our steps. But what has to be... it is!
"We want to thank all of those who have directly or indirectly stood by the band, not forgetting who was part of this project, the Recital Records and Ethereal Sound Works for having faith on us and published our albums, to all of those who worked with us and that we met over the years and that are undoubtedly many value people!
"Gone are two original albums, a demo and an EP, and a respectful and proud curriculum in Portugal, playing at almost every 'big stage!' Thank you all." More...

"Asymmetry" is the band’s first new release in over four years and the 14 tracks were recorded and mixed by producer Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Mastodon) in Byron Bay, New South Wales.
The fourth annual installment of the The Power Of The Riff festival in Los Angeles is now just a week away, the event including a pre-party on Friday, August 9th at The Echo and two-stage, full-day lineup Saturday, August 10th, at both The Echo and Echoplex.
Amidst the massive roster of crushing newcomer acts and classic heavyweights set to execute sets over the two-day fest, one of the main headlining performances of the weekend will be the original lineup of LA crossover act Final Conflict - founder Jeff Harp, vocalist Ron Martinez and bassist Warren Renfrow (Manic Hispanic, Cadillac Tramps) - for the first time in 24 years.
In the 1980s, Final Conflict was part of the first wave of punk bands to be labeled "crossover," with a sonic mix of Discharge meeting Black Sabbath coupled with political lyrics the appropriate soundtrack to inspire a troublemaker to slam, headbang, or throw a brick at a cop... and sometimes all three.
The band will perform 1987's "Ashes To Ashes" LP in sequence as well as early demo material. Although older, the band has no intentions of “phoning it in” - expect a brutal and energetic set.
Additional headlining acts The Obsessed, M.D.C., From Ashes Rise, Black Breath, Iceburn, and others join more than twenty additional bands including Early Graves, Mammoth Grinder, Bastard Noise, Dead in the Dirt, and tons more taking part in the melee. The lineup is:
Friday, August 9th @ The Echo // pre-party:
Black Breath, Early Graves, Obliterations, Nomads, Creative Adult
Saturday, August 10th @ The Echo & Echoplex
The Obsessed, Final Conflict, From Ashes Rise, M.D.C., Iceburn, Iron Lung, Mammoth Grinder, Bastard Noise, Condition, Dead In The Dirt, Baptists, Replica, Completed Exposition, Centuries, Wartorn, Territory, Whip Hand, Children Of God, Old Wounds, Opposition Rising
Asking Alexandria will cap off the year with a headlining North America tour. The “From Death To Destiny” headliner will also feature All That Remains, Sevendust, Emmure, and For Today.

Ben Bruce (guitars) states: "AMERICA! We are back and have returned with our biggest line-up to date. Bigger songs, bigger bands, louder shows and more rock than the fucking Swiss Alps. We can't wait to bring this new live show to the masses. We will be playing songs spanning our entire catalog, and of course a shit-ton of new songs from our new album From Death to Destiny. We have never been more excited to headline a tour. It's an honor to be touring with such great bands and we know you are going to love all of them. We have the perfect line-up for you to mosh to, sing along to, bounce to and bang your fucking head to. We're back and we're better than ever. See you all very soon."

Cleveland, Ohio doom rockers Venomin James have announced the addition of vocalist Mike Martini (Unified Culture, Mudfoot) and the release of a new single "Sailor’s Grave" through Auburn Records. Martini replaces vocalist Jim Meador.
"‘Sailor’s Grave’ marks the beginning of the second phase of Venomin James," says guitarist and founding member Joe Fortunato. "This is the first time Eric’s (Matthews) drumming has appeared on one of our recordings, and our first collaboration with new vocalist Mike Martini. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised by the direction we’re going.
"This time around, we’re going to be releasing a few singles instead of waiting to make an album – especially since we’re amped for our fans to check out the new songs. There’s no shortage of crushing riffs being thrown around at rehearsals these days, so expect more tunes very, very soon." More...
"Eyes Without A Soul," the new video from Cleveland, Ohio-based metallers Eternal Legacy, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's third album, "Seeking No Peace," which was released on April 23rd via Auburn Records. The video was directed by Venomin James guitarist Joe Fortunato.
"This song speaks about our current society, how so many people hide from the real world, living in their fake video games, and how we rely on computers and machines to take all the thought-process out of life," says Eternal Legacy vocalist/guitarist Jason Vanek. "Extreme tragedy could come at anytime. How could we survive and who would survive? It also seems like the true heart and soul in music has been lost in today's day and age."
"Seeking No Peace" was produced by Vanek and recorded at his Mercinary Studios in Avon, Ohio. The album is distributed in North America by CD Baby, Century Media, The End, Sentinel Steel, Amazon and iTunes. The track listing is as follows:
4. Eyes Without A Soul
6. Seeking No Peace
7. First Murder
9. While You Bleed More...
Messenger has announced an upcoming third studio album. "Starwolf - Pt.I: The Messengers" was produced by Rolf Munkes (Majesty, Razorback) at the Empire Studio, while Andy Horn is responsible for the mastering at the Red Room Studios. Massacre Records comments:
"On the upcoming album, Messenger moves into new horizons - into the infinities of the universe, to be precise!
"In association with the novelist Victor L. Pax the band will play the central characters of a science fiction novel, which has specially been created for the band entitled 'Sternenwolf - Die Boten' ('Starwolf - The Messengers')!
"Wiebke Scholz, who has established her reputation in the fantasy and games scene, is responsible for the stunning cover artwork of the album.
"As for the musical development, the guys from Germany’s Saarland stepped up their game, while sticking to their style: Thrilling riffs, bombastic choirs, catchy melodies, virtuous guitar play and the variable four-octave-voice of the lead vocalist, which will blow metal heads’ minds!"
The album will be released on September 6th, 2013 via Massacre Records. Check out the artwork below. More...

Watain comments: "Starting the first full tour for 'The Wild Hunt' in North America seems quite appropriate, considering how many severe experiences and sleepless nights that country has bestowed upon us while riding through its strange wilderness...A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very, very hungry. Deformed from both victory and defeat, distorted by a constant influx of powers residing beyond the borders of this world, we now return to join forces with our ever loyal US supporters. With us we will have two acts that have the capacity of transforming the audience into one big open wound before we go on stage, ready then to receive the lethal yet illuminating venom of Watain." The 7" EP comes in three different colored versions of screaming poison green vinyl, cartoonish hubba bubba pink vinyl, and plain white vinyl.

The announcement reads: "We are extremely happy and proud to welcome Pasi back to the Thunderstone family and look forward to creating something truly magical with him in the future."
Bassist Titus Hjelm commented: "Asking Pasi to come back was a no-brainer, really. He has one of the best voices in the scene and many people beyond Thunderstone fans were wondering what he was doing with his incredible talent. We’re really excited to be working with him again."
Pasi’s commented: "Dear Thunderstone fans and friends...I’m back! And man, it feels good too! Leaving Thunderstone was a difficult decision and something that I regretted more than once during my time away. So when the guys approached me about a possible reunion, I had no second thoughts.
