Gama Bomb Posts New Lyric Video Online

Irish thrashers Gama Bomb have released a face-melting animated lyric video for new single "666teen." The blistering track is the first single from the band’s sixth album Speed Between The Lines, out October 12th on AFM Records.

The album’s retro cover art is by New York-based artist Jarred Hageman AKA Chrome And Lightning and Rory McGuigan (Villagers), and the video also features scenes from 1950s public information movies.

The album was produced by longtime Gama Bomb collaborator Scott Atkins (Cradle of Filth, Sylosis).
“The title just popped into my head one night,” explains singer Philly Byrne. “I’d been listening to a lot of 50s rock and doo-wop, songs like Sixteen Candles and Sweet Little Sixteen, and it just kinda morphed into this idea: what if somebody wrote a Satanic teen rebellion song?”
Bassist Joe McGuigan on Speed Between The Lines: “Our aim with this record was keep refining the GAMA BOMB thrash formula. It’s got faster and more punky riffing, battling axes and catchy, memorable choruses from Philly, who’s back with the Halford / Belladona notes after injuring his voice a few years back.” More...

Bloodstock 2018: Day Three

All good things must come to an end, as they say. And so it was that after two days full of metal, the Bloodstock Open Air festival drew to a close with one last blast of high octane music. It's strange to say about a metal festival, but given the amount of children and seasoned rockers in the audience over the course of the weekend, it can honestly be said that Bloodstock is fun for all ages, not just in terms of the festival and its fairground attractions, but for some of the bands who performed over the weekend too.

As had unfortunately been becoming a tradition, I missed out on the opening band on the Ronnie James Dio stage and instead got to the main area to see progressive metal outfit, Evergrey. Having witnessed some of their set at 70000 Tons Of Metal this year, it was interesting to see the band in a different light, quite literally as the atmospheric lighting of the ship's ampitheatre had been replaced with the cold, grey skies of the East Midlands morning. Attending the festival with a group of prog metal fans, I can safely say that the Swedes delight their fan base and target audience. Their long, intricate pieces are a must see for fans of the style but for those who aren't so keen or consider themselves more of a casual fan, this brand of music might do a lot to excite and certainly doesn't help wake you from the night before. Bloodbath Detail Upcoming New Album

Bloodbath‘s fifth full-length effort “The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn” is planned for an October 26th release via Peaceville. The outfit’s guitarist Anders “Blakkheim” Nyström says of it:

“What are we presenting with this album? Humanity’s unfaltering march prone towards downfall. The threat to this world isn’t from far beyond the sun, the enemy is right here, within the walls. Only the god of emptiness will survive us all. The arrow of Satan is drawn!”

“There’s no mitigating circumstances coming your way any time soon… The world is a mad place full of darkness, horror, disease and terror! Hell on Earth is real and not just limited to fiction. The dark ages transcend all frontiers, ever present but yet unseen.”

The outing will be released in both standard and deluxe editions.

Among the album’s songs is “Bloodicide“, featuring guest appearances from Jeff Walker of Carcass, Karl Willetts of Bolt Thrower/Memoriam fame and John Walker of Cancer.
