Balkan based atmospheric black metal act Macabrum has signed a deal with S.D.I. Produktionen from Germany to release the band's first full-length album entitled "Monument of Eternal Grief..." The band commented on the album:
"On a new album we've mixed all kind of different influences from our past, from classical to black metal music. Therefore, we used piano as a main instrument on some songs accompanied with violins, choir and cellos. Classical music always had a huge influence on us and we think that every listener will find that connection on this album. It is over 50 minutes long and it truly represents everything we stand for. We will not deny that it was a tough work to make it sound the best way possible, but now as we listen to it, we feel so damn proud that we succeeded in our goal."

Macabre is a musical entity all of its own. Sure, the Chicago-area group pens songs about the most notorious killers in history. Their music often shares characteristics of death metal, and they often tour with death metal bands. However, death metal is an erroneous tag. Aspects of grind and thrash are also apparent in the band’s music, but their use of other genres besides rock music has resulted in a black-humored concoction known as “murder metal.”
Obviously, the murder metal tag became most apparent when the group named their album that in 2003, but the idea of utilizing other forms of music to accentuate their metal songs goes back much further. The “Sinister Slaughter” album from 1993 featured saloon-style piano notes (“Vampire of Düsseldorf”) and a campfire, sing-a-long acoustic (“Mary Bell"). The group took it even further on their follow up full-length “Dahmer.” A musical based on the life of convicted cannibal killer, Jeffry Dahmer, said album featured the Blues (“Jeffry Dahmer Blues”), a parody of the Umpa lumpa song featured in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (“Jeffry Dahmer and the Chocolate Factory”) and several nursery rhymes like “Grandmother’s House” and “Scrub a Dub Dub.”
The contrast of musical styles—metal meets nursery rhyme and so forth—gives Macabre comic qualities. Even though they write songs on taboo subject matter, their songs guarantee sing-a-longs. The group’s latest album, “Grim Scary Tales,” offers more necromantic nursery rhymes. Guitarist/singer, Corporate Death chatted with Metal Underground about his sordid subjects, using non-metal forms of music and a new album in the works. More...

Back four years after the band's label debut, U.K. act Awake return with a brand new album titled "Forever More" via Lion Music on October 14th, 2011. You can check out the new song "Bleed For You" after the jump, and the band also commented on the upcoming album:
"Taking a step onwards from their debut 'Illumination', Awake have delivered a heavier grittier sound second time round that retains the melodies and depth of its critically acclaimed predecessor. 'Forever More' also marks the first album recorded with new guitar duo, the brothers Andy and Steven Coles who have brought stability to the band not to mention bringing a new dimension to heavier sound heard on the new album.
"The journey for this album started around a year after 'Illumination' was released. The bands former guitarist left (Richard Hall) and the group were keen to move on with new members when writing the new album. After thorough and extensive auditioning Andy Coles joined around June 2008 and the early ideas for the new album were formed. 'Release Me' was the first song written and came from a keyboard 'riff' that Craig came in with. Steven Coles joined the band by February 2009 and a break in writing was taken for the band to go out on the road with Magnum again. After this writing resumed and the album took shape over the next year or so. Pre-production took place in February 2010, final adjustments were made (including the inclusion of female backing vocals-Jennifer Hardy), and full recording took place April/May 2010."
On the "Forever More" lyrical slant the band states, "We wanted to convey our own personal experiences with love and loss and the hardships you face when you lose someone close to you. We hope that this is something people in general can relate to and we hope they can find meaning within the songs. More...

I enjoyed the shoot and the day we spent driving around to different locations. I feel strongly about the message of compassion and love. I hope we are able to help change a child's life through weriseabove.org or at the very least inspire others to reach outside themselves and make a difference. I want nothing more than for our music to have a positive impact in this world. One love to all!"
Director Tim Dennesen also weighed in, saying, "'Live In Love' sends a powerful message. Anthony Jarvis, the director of photography, and I wanted to give raw visuals to this message to help spread awareness. It was a mystical quest, and a lot of fun to work with Times Of Grace."

Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen was recently interviewed by British metal publication Metal Hammer, during which, he revealed why he decided to bring Ministry back from retirement after three years, as well as some revelations regarding a new album from the group. An excerpt from the interview reads as follows:
So how did the resurrection of Ministry come about?
“While I was working on [the Buck Satan record], me and Mike Scaccia from Rigor Mortis fucked around to pass the time and we had like, 5,6,7 songs and I didn’t really want to do anything with them but Mikey was like, “dude these songs are awesome.” They weren’t country, they were more like Ministry. So he’s coming by in September and Tommy Victor’s coming by in October with Tony Campos and we’re gona finish up and put out another Ministry album by Christmas called ‘Relapse.’”
Interesting title for a record…
“Well, I’m clean living but it’s like I’m relapsing back into the world of Ministry.”
So what are your immediate plans for touring?
“The doctors told me to keep it light so we’re doing four shows in the States next June. The Nokia theatre in LA, the Vic theatre in Chicago – we’ll add second shows if those sell out – Denver at the Ogden Theatre, and one night at the Nokia theatre in New York and that’s our whole American tour. That’s it. And then we go to Europe and I’m gonna do a couple of festivals and club shows. We’re gona do a limited tour, it’ll be like 5/6 weeks. Maybe 20, 21 shows and just see how it works.”

American heavy metal veterans, Quiet Riot, has posted a trailer online for their forthcoming documentary movie, "Well Now You're Here, There's No Way Back." You can check it out below. The film is currently in production with a release date to be set for some time in 2012. A synopsis for the film reads as follows:
"Our story follows Frankie Banali, a world renown drummer you probably remember from the 80's band Quiet Riot. As a single soccer dad in the suburbs, his long hair and tattoos frighten the neighbors, but to other drummers he's a hero. His career took a major sideswipe when his singer Kevin DuBrow died in 2007. At a cross roads in his life he must forge ahead and make a new life for himself and his daughter.
"This film takes a trip back through time to the decade of debauchery and decadence. Real home videos shot backstage, on the tour bus, in the recording studio, and in hotel rooms with one of the 80's top platinum selling bands and most notorious bad boys. Never before seen footage from the milestones in Frankie's long career in music and his personal life now. Funny, and deeply personal and poignant exploration of Frankie's long time friendship with his band mate Kevin DuBrow. The loss of his close friend and his career as he knew it, and his life after Kevin. Follow his journey at his current moment of truth. As he goes through the ups and downs of having to fill the void left by his singer and friend Kevin DuBrow and continue on with Quiet Riot." More...
According to The Associated Press, Behemoth frontman Adam "Negal" Darski was found innocent today in a Polish court, after being on trial for ripping pages out of a Bible and labelling it, "a deceitful book" at a concert in 2007. Darski was cleared of the charges when he explained that the show where the tearing took place was a closed event in which only those who had purchased tickets attended and knew what to expect, a statement held up when questioned audience members stated that they were not offended by Darski's actions or comments.
