Nachtblut To Release New Album In October

Three years since the release of their previous album, "Apostasie," dark metal pioneers Nachtblut return with even more vigor and announce their new gloomy offering, "Vanitas," out October 2nd via Napalm Records.

The first single "Das Puppenhaus" (engl. the dollhouse) is reminiscent of scene giants such as Rammstein and draws the listener deep into the significant Nachtblut sound. Rhythmic guitars weave all throughout this smashing hymn while a steady rhythm underlines the honest lyrics.

The soft, harmonic, yet calm introduction may appear deceptive, but Nachtblut is by no means representing their song in a restrained manner. Askeroth’s dark voice effortlessly shifts between whispering growls and clean vocals while authentically smashing the listener's ears.

Nachtblut on the new single:
"With “Das Puppenhaus“ we combined an issue that seems to be outdated, but actually is more up to date than you might think. The title of song sounds nice and harmonious, but if you see behind the curtain you will realize the omnipresent and claustrophobic atmosphere. With the dark video for „Das Puppenhaus“ we substantiate the songs prevailing mood and giving the metaphor we use a strong visual cue." More...

Sludgelord Records' Heron Premiere Video

Metalunderground is proud to premiere a video for Sludgelord Record's Heron, from Vancouver, Canada.

Heron is comprised of four veterans of the Vancouver independent music scene and mixes post-rock textures with suffocating guitar riffs, dread-inspiring percussion, and agonizing sludge-metal vocals.

The band had this to day about their new video, "Death on the Malahat."

"Death on the Malahat was written by Heron in late 2018 while touring British Columbia and Alberta. It is inspired by the near countless hours spent driving from venue to venue in Western Canada. These drives usually occur early in the morning and take on a dream-like quality due to late nights, fitful sleeps in hotel beds, and the monotony of the road.

The song title refers to a particularly treacherous stretch of Highway 1 on Vancouver Island referred to as 'The Malahat'. This section of highway twists up and down and between several mountains during its relatively short length and is notorious for extreme weather changes and fatal car crashes.

The video employs a pastiche of forests, long stretches of road, and obliterated vehicles and wraps it all in the film look and feel of a late 70s exploitation film.

The narrative of the song takes place just after a vehicle has hit a patch of black ice, broken through the guardrails, and is plunging towards the forest floor below."

Devildriver Posts New Music Video Online

DevilDriver recently announced the release of their upcoming double album, "Dealing With Demons." The first volume - entitled "Dealing With Demons I" - drops on October 9 via Napalm Records and marks the band’s first release of new, original material since 2016's acclaimed "Trust No One."

Today, DevilDriver is following up on the release of the burgeoning single/video "Keep Away From Me" and the haunting single/video "Iona" with a third single - the fast-paced burner "Nest Of Vipers". Harking back to the heavy, melodic, dark groove that DevilDriver patented at their start while remaining entirely modern and fresh, "Nest Of Vipers" winds its way into the listener’s psyche with metallic chugging and southern-fried leads, gritty, grooving riffs and a heightened dose of amplified energy and intensity. Co-written by frontman Dez Fafara and guitarist Neal Tiemann, the lyrics to "Nest Of Vipers" explore themes of true loyalty and the notion that friendship is not a commodity for sale!

Frontman Dez Fafara says about "Nest Of Vipers" and working with guitarist Neal Tiemann on their first lyrical collaboration: "This is my first co-written lyric on any DevilDriver track with another band member, penned with our guitarist Neal Tiemann. Working with Neal is a good time. We always want what's best for the song. More...
