Soulfly Premiere New Song "Evil Empowered"

Soulfly premiere a new song entitled "Evil Empowered", taken from their upcoming new album "Ritual". Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe and Immolation bassist/vocalist Ross Dolan are among the effort’s guests with the track listing and cover art (done by Eliran Kantor) available at the bottom of this post.

Speaking of the “Ritual“, the band’s mastermind, frontman/guitarist Max Cavalera commented:

“I am really stoked to be working again with two of my favorite artists, Eliran Kantor and Marcelo Vasco! The Ritual artwork is very mystic and captures the vibe of the album perfectly. For this one, we really tried to retain the groove of early Soulfly as well as my love for the heavy, fast stuff I’m into: like death and black metal and some hardcore.

Working with Josh Wilbur for Soulfly this time around has been amazing. He’s a huge fan and added a lot to the record. I would fight for the fast songs and he would always push me to add more groove. I think in the end we created a really cool mix of songs that covers a lot of ground in my career. Let the Ritual begin!”

Fired Ex-Misery Signal Singer Breaks His Silence

With Misery Signals‘ 2008 release having recently hit its tenth anniversary, the group’s ex-vocalist Karl Schubach breaks his silence on his 2014 firing from the band to make way for the return of his predecessor frontman Jesse Zaraska:

“This year marked the 10th anniversary of what, by definition, should have been one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. Misery Signals third studio album, Controller, was released July 22, 2008. I still receive floods of messages from fans explaining how much that album means to them.

To this day, I’ve maintained my silence in regards to my departure from the band which, in retrospect, might be part of the reason I find myself struggling with my mental health to this day.

Over the past few years, I’ve felt growing resentment, and increasing negativity towards my experience as a member of Misery Signals. Removal from the band has left me fighting increasing battles with depression, anxiety, and a complete loss of self-confidence that has severely affected my personal relationships, and has hindered the way I interact with people.

In order to grow, move forward, and begin the healing process I feel there’s no better time than this 10 year milestone to shed some light: More...
