Drummer Josh Hawke has checked in with the following announcement about splitting with Transhuman:
"Hey guys, Josh here. Unfortunately I've decided to part ways with Transhuman. There is absolutely no bad blood between any of us and it's purely because my heart isn't in it any more and I'm committing full time to Dishonour the Crown.
"I wish all the boys the best luck in the world in the future and replacing me. All shows booked are still going to be honoured, so this is the last message from me guys! it's been awesome. Thank you!"
Arcanium has checked in with the following announcement about seeking donations to cover medical bills after the band's t-shirt cannon exploded:
"As some of you may or may not already know, a few weeks back our t-shirt cannon malfunctioned and exploded in to pieces at our rehearsal space, severely injuring and hospitalizing two bystanders.
"One of these bystanders was our long time friend and guitar tech Dustin 'Dead Dreamz' Hamilton. The other was our tour manager and long time friend Damien Boyd. These two dudes have made HUGE sacrifices for our band, never demanding anything in return. Unfortunately these sacrifices have also led to less than optimal healthcare and financial circumstances. Hospital bills are stacking up and are already above 3k.
"If you have it in your heart to help, we have started an online fundraiser and are accepting donations to help our metal brothers recover from this tragedy. Even though the events that led up to the explosion remain a mystery, Arcanium vows to NEVER AGAIN utilize a t-shirt cannon in any of its’ events or functions, for the safety of our fans and affiliates. We are extremely grateful and feel very lucky that these two are still alive.
"We found the photos of their injuries to be too graphic for Facebook, however they can still be viewed at our website. Very serious stuff. We wish Dustin and Damien a fast road to recovery, and thank you in advance for any size of donation that you can make. Please click here to help these guys out." More...

Progressive Nation founder Mike Portnoy elaborates:
"In 2008 & 2009, I created a touring package called 'Progressive Nation' and with Dream Theater headlining, we did three full tours (two in North America and one in Europe) that showcased a variety of bands that embraced the spirit and musicality of progressive music.

Wormholedeath will distribute the new album from Belgian modern metal act Age of Torment, titled "I, Against." The label will handle the release worldwide, excluding Benelux, which will be exclusively out via Spinal Records.
The release date is set for early autumn 2013, and a preview clip is also available below. The band stated:
"We’re proud and pleased to announce we’re working with Wormholedeath & Spinal records (Benelux only) for the release of our new album entitled 'I, Against,' follow-up of our debut full-length 'Dying Breed Reborn.' We spent three years composing and arranging this new album. It is a true product of dedication and chemistry between all of us in the band, and we didn’t want to give it away to some careless sharks.
"It’s hard to find dedicated people who still believe in the scene and handle their signed bands without sparing effort. We had several offers and discussions with a several labels, but going into business with WHD was an easy and logical choice. Age of Torment & WHD speak the same language & look into the same direction. This was the most adequate choice to make and we’re looking forward to what the future might behold.”
Oceano is set to release third album "Incisions" on October 1st, 2013. The first single from "Incisions" is the heavy electronic metal song "Slow Murder," which can be heard now on the Alternative Press website here.
For Oceano, "Incisions" is essentially the first of the band's albums to be approached lyrically on an emotional and personal level. Its purpose lyrically and musically is to expel the stress and inner demons of the time between albums. "We invested a lot of time and effort in the writing, production, and recording of Incisions. This is our most focused work to date and we are proud and excited to share it with the world," said the band after recording.

The Danish death metal band Crocell has parted ways with guitarist "Smukke" Ken Holst. A replacement for Ken has already been found in Rasmus "Hexen" Henriksen (ex-Panzerchrist, ex-Die, ex-Slow Death Factory) who is a longtime friend of Crocell.
Ken explains: "Somehow, down the road, I completely lost the spirit and commitment to taking this band further. Please welcome Hexen on guitar - he is the perfect match for this band! See you guys at the bar from now on."
Drummer Andreas Posselt comments: "We are sorry that Ken is no longer in the band as he is not only a gifted guitarist, but also a good friend. Ken was one of the driving forces behind Crocell when we started out six years ago and since then we have spent countless hours in the rehearsal room, in the studios, and on the road with him. Three albums and more than 60 concerts later, we would like to say thanks a lot for the ride and we wish you all the best! The rest of us are 100% committed to keep the band going, though, and with Hexen on board we are confident that Crocell is as strong as ever!"
Hexen will play his first show with Crocell at Radar in Aarhus, Denmark on September 7th.
Sweden's Descend has posted a new album teaser, which also features tour footage and can be viewed below. The band comments:
"Video featuring 'In Hours of Despair' from our upcoming album Wither and some clips from our Scottish tour! We sure would like to give you a release date but are as of yet still working on the distribution deal. We hope to get back to you with more info soon!"
Philadelphia-based Nothing is proud to announce the group's signing to Relapse Records for the release of debut LP, "Guilty Of Everything," in 2014.
To celebrate the signing and the band's current tour with Whirr, Nothing is pleased to share the single "Dig," which can be heard below. Speaking on the signing to Relapse Records, Nothing says: "We are very excited to work with Relapse, will be rad to see our music reach a much wider audience."
Relapse Records comments: "Nothing was formed in 2011 by Domenic Palermo. Previously Palermo was the brains behind the early 2000's hardcore/punk act Horror Show. in 2002 Horror Show was put on hold after Palermo was incarcerated for a stabbing that eventually led to a 2 year prison sentence. Upon his return Palermo would take a lengthy hiatus from music. In 2011 he released a demo tape titled 'Poshlost' under the moniker Nothing.
"After several attempts at constructing a solid lineup for the band Palermo met Brandon Setta. Setta would bring a lush, rich soundscape and a fresh approach to Palermo's vision for Nothing. Setta and Palermo would handle the writing for the next release, a very rare 12" EP that was released on Japanese boutique label Big Love Records called Suns And Lovers(A play off of the D.H. Lawernce book). It was limited to 300 copies and the bands share was donated back to the label for a Tsunami Relief Charity.
"The next release, Downward Years To Come was a 5 song EP and was recorded at the Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn with Kyle 'Slick' Johnson. The record was released by Baltimore Label A389 Records in November 2012. Written by Palermo and Setta, the concept behind Downward Years To Come was a dedication to several different poets who had taken their own lives. Head to Nothing's bandcamp page here to stream or purchase Downward Years To Come and Suns And Lovers. Setta and Palermo would again head into the studio, this time with Jeff Zeigler at Uniform Recordings to write their debut LP, Guilty Of Everything and sign with Relapse Records." More...

New York death metal act Skinless has reformed after a 2 year hiatus to headline the third day of the Delaware Deathfest this October alongside label-mates Dying Fetus, Exhumed, Ringworm, Howl, and Call of the Void plus Suffocation, Deicide, Broken Hope, Brutality, and many more.
The 2nd annual Delaware Deathfest takes place October 4-6 in Wilmington, DE at Mojo 13. Commented vocalist Sherwood Webber:
"We’re back, the classic Skinless lineup has always had an undeniable live chemistry and it’s time to unleash the beast again. We’re all old buddies and if we have the opportunity to destroy some stages around the world again, it feels right….who knows what’s next?!? In keeping with the old Skinless credo of not giving a fuck…we’re back to destroy….we can’t let Exhumed have ALL the fun! Also….. if you ever told me that we’d be playing with Brutality when I was 15 years old listening to the Screams Of Anguish tape in Noah’s Camaro, I would never have believed it, this is awesome!"
Guitarist Noah Carpenter adds: "This is the lineup that put Skinless on the metal map, so it's great to be back. We won't be the road dogs of the past, but we'll be playing some select festivals and drinking all their beer. So sit back, slip on your absorbent undergarments, and let the mayhem begin......again!"

Revolver Magazine today presents the premiere of Bone Dance's new video, "Writhing In Ecstasy."
Directed by AJ Duthie, the clip features a song from Bone Dance's self-titled album, released late last year on Melotov Records (home also to releases by The Banner, Ghostlimb, and Old Wounds).
Revolver reports: "From Boise, Idaho, Bone Dance churn out what they themselves call 'utter, desert-driven nihilism' - think suffocating heaviness along the lines of Botch, Coalesce, and Engineer." Of the self-titled album, Cvlt Nation stated, "Bone Dance's new LP sets the bar high for all newer bands playing chaotic metal/hardcore and is one of the must-hear metal albums of the year, period."
Coming up August 27th, Melotov will reissue another Bone Dance release, the out-of-print 2010 "Snakecharmers" EP, as a limited edition, one-sided color vinyl 12", featuring all new artwork. More...

Kataklysm has revealed the alternate cover art for upcoming release "Waiting for the End to Come."
The artwork by Eliran Kantor will be featured on the deluxe digipak and LP versions of the new album, which will be released on October 29th (North America) via Nuclear Blast.
The previously released cover by Peter Sallai, will be featured on the standard jewel case and limited edition cassette tape versions.
"This other version of the new art made by Eliran Kantor represents a more iconic and epic approach,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “A man representing all of humanity, shaking the foundation of existence and ultimately beginning the process of destruction. The main foundation is depicted here as the famous Kataklysm ‘tribal sun’ logo. It does not represent the end of Kataklysm by any means; more the beginning of a new era after the end of a certain existence." More...
Redeemer has released a lyric video for the title track from the upcoming album "Dead Weight," which can be seen below. The album was recorded with producer Jay Maas (Defeater, Verse) at Getaway Recording Studio in Wakefield, MA.
"We decided to record with Jay because we knew what he's recorded in the past. Finding an engineer that has recorded some of the arguably key bands in our genre was huge for us," explained the band. "The recording process was amazing. From the first day, we felt at home. Jay's input and knowledge was a breath of fresh air and we could tell he wanted this album to sound as good as we did. We wouldn't change a thing about the recording experience."
The band elaborated more on "Dead Weight," explaining, "the album is a collection of songs about the trials and burdens that we as a band have individually and collectively experienced. ‘Dead Weight’ refers to the weight of burned bridges, as well as the overbearing sinking feeling coming from a broken home in a broken society."
“This album is possibly the darkest and most personal material we’ve written to convey that life is not all hallmark cards and happy times, but you're not in this alone. We were able to write an entire album that is front-to-back, about everything good and bad that makes and molds us as people. The song Dead Weight addresses that sinking feeling; that deafening silence and miserable feeling of disconnection we all feel at times. Suffer to survive.”
The "Dead Weight" album will hit stores this winter on Mediaskare Records. More...
Southern California's Smile Empty Soul has revealed the cover art and track listing for upcoming sixth studio album, "Chemicals," due out October 1st, 2013 on the band's new imprint, Two Disciples Entertainment.
"Chemicals," a record vocalist/guitarist Sean Danielsen describes as "a very raw album for today's standards," will be the debut release on the new label. In conjunction with Pavement Entertainment, Two Disciples Entertainment will see the band controlling all aspects of marketing and promotion for the new record and impending tours.
Commented Danielsen: "We've been on a different label with every release in our career, and we were tired of not being the priority. We started our own label with a business partner who's been a great friend to us over the last 10 years, and found distribution through some other long-time friends of ours. Now we're running the campaign ourselves and we're totally in control, doing what we feel needs to be done."
According to the vocalist, fans can expect the same emotional rock the band has delivered since its inception in 1998, but with an evolved edge, sharpened from over a decade on the road. "Chemicals still has our signature sound," he adds, "but it has its own feel apart from our other work."
And with regards to the album title, "'Chemicals' made so much sense to us because of the day and age we live in. We're all eating, drinking, and breathing chemicals on a daily basis and there's no escape." More...

"'Alvíssmál' is part of the Poetic Edda (13th Century) and tells the story of the dwarf Alvíss, coming to Thor's home where a great feast is taking place. Alvíss lets Thor know that he got engaged with Thor's daughter while Thor was away. Thor's not amused about that as he has never given his agreement to the affiance, but Alvíss insists on taking Thor's daughter with him.
"So they both agree to solve the problem with fighting a rethorical contest - Alvíss has to prove his knowledge about all different names of things, their synonyms and how they are called within the different mythological entities among the Nordic Mythology.
"Avíss succeeds in answering all sorts of Thor's questions correctly and Thor is really paying respect to the dwarf's knowledge, but what Alvíss does not know yet: Thor is deliberately taking his time as he knows, as soon as the first sunbeam hits the dwarf, Alvíss will be turned to stone...

Pennsylvania's Rivers of Nihil has completed work on the full-length album, "The Conscious Seed of Light." The album was recorded in March of 2013 at Mana Recording Studios in Florida with famed metal producer/musician Erik Rutan.
Guitarist Brody Uttley said, "Working with Erik was a true privilege. Coming from the DIY circuit and immediately recording with one of greatest death metal producers of all time pushed us all more than we ever could have expected, both as musicians and as people. We have grown tremendously as a band in all aspects because of our experience with Erik."
Artwork for the band's debut full-length was handled by cover artist Dan Seagrave, whose portfolio includes covers for Morbid Angel, Entombed, Suffocation, and Decrepit Birth. Rivers of Nihil ended up sending a brief treatment of the record that included a description of the album with song titles, a few lyrics, etc. to a number of artists the band admires. Every one of the artists seemed interested to a degree; however, it was Dan Seagrave who really seemed like he understood and appreciated what it was the band was going for. And as Brody says, "he really tore into it! What we see on the cover is a landscape of a world that doesn't need mankind, we are relics here, and the sun is the only true master."
"The Conscious Seed of Light" will be released in North America on October 15th. New music, pre-orders, and video content will be released within the next few weeks. The track listing is as follows:

The last place I ever thought I would see a show was in the middle of the campus of the “elite of society” – Harvard University. Though not confirmed, I had heard that this particular show was the first metal event at the newly opened Sinclair club, which was directly in the heart of the college. I had made the 114 mile trek to the area countless times, however, I don’t recall the traffic being this annoying. When I went to see Wintersun and Eluveitie at Royale in downtown Boston, the trip was nuisance free. But, it was Friday night, and stupidity on the road was nothing new. The area was wrought with college kids, yuppie preps and artsy types, so it was a pleasure to walk around in my Sodom – “Epitome of Torture” shirt, its double meaning was painfully clear. The venue proved to be a rather loose, without any pushy asshole bouncers and the club itself had decent sound. If you have been to the upstairs part of The Palladium in Worcester, imagine it double the size with a much better stage (raised to where you can see), much better lighting and double the upstairs space where you can view the band from just above the floor crowd from all sides/angles.
