"Be vigilant in truth and love," is not a lyric you’d expect to hear from a metal band, and especially not at a live show. You’d think it would have a way of stopping mosh pits, but that wasn’t the case when Times of Grace and Underoath came to Nashville, bringing along the bands Stray from the Path and Letlive. On the night of August 9th, the "Illuminatour" was to be a high-volume lesson in believing in yourself.
Amidst a record high-temperature summer, fans waited outside the venue well before the doors opened. More...

Tee Pee Records' artist Elks is offering the new track "White Fang Learns to Hate" at this location. The new track comes from the Brooklyn band's forthcoming debut "Destined for the Sun," available on September 13 through Tee Pee Records.
"Destined for the Sun" was recorded by Brendan Tobin (Made of Babies) at Translator Audio.
Elks bassist/vocalist Don Stewart comments on the album's concept:
"The EP is about the peaceful inhabitants of a planet colonized by an expanding empire who are imprisoned in a golden space hulk, then sent hurtling towards the nearest sun. Without food or water they are forced to eat the flesh of their kin while the heat from the approaching sun slowly cooks them alive. Eventually they're knocked off course and the ship crash lands on an inhabitable planet, where the unlucky survivors begin to rebuild their society. This song in particular is about the moment when they launch their redemption ship, the White Fang, to extract revenge."
The track listing for Elks' "Destined for the Sun" is as follows:
1.) White Fang Learns to Hate
2.) Fall of the Starchitect
3.) Two Moons of Mars

Going through several bass players and drummers, in 2010 they opted to go back to being a creative duo, instead of remaining malfunctioning band.
"In 2011, they were accompanied by Emil (Emil Sigstad Moen) on scream. Elude The Sun is temporarily exclusively a studio band, due to lack of band members for a full live line-up."

Drummer Kenny Evans, who has been with Sacred Oath since recording the band’s debut “A Crystal Vision” in 1987, has suffered a severe injury to his spine and requires surgery. As a result, he will be unable to perform in the fall US tour in October.
“We’re all very worried about him,” said bandleader and singer Rob Thorne in an interview with DJ Roger Lotring on 91.7 WHUS in Connecticut. “We were hoping he could rehabilitate without surgery, but after the last show we did in New Haven he couldn’t walk for almost a week. He’s in serious, serious pain.”
For the tour, Sacred Oath has hired Chilean drummer Ignacio Orellana. Ignacio has been part of many projects and bands such as Pirosaint and Downfire (US). “This is a temporary replacement, and we’re all hopeful that Kenny will recover from surgery and be able to record the next Sacred Oath album,” said Thorne. “We’ve been together for so long, I can’t imagine an album without him. But Ignacio has been a blessing. He is a fantastic drummer, knows the material, and most importantly, is sensitive to the situation. We’re confident the tour will be strong.”
Sacred Oath's latest video for “Meet Your Maker” can be viewed below.

While the band takes a break from the road, Tesseract decided to begin work on a new music video for the track "Eden", which appears on the group's debut album, "One." In association with Escape Plan Productions, "Eden" will feature the artistic vision of Director Ganesh Rao and Director of Photography Jonny Greenwald. In regards to the new music video, bassist Amos Williams comments:
"We like to keep a close eye on what's happening in the underground and the scene from which we were born. One day a jaw-dropping, stunning video appears on Got-Djent.com. I mean beautiful, cinematic, and emotive. Ganesh Rao created not only a great example of 'djent' with his entirely self created EMPYREAN project, but as director of the video, made something that has truly risen the bar for independent creators. Now, as it happened we were looking for a director to work with us for our upcoming video for 'Eden', so it was a no-brainer to approach Ganesh to try and make it happen. We're very excited to see what we can create together. The hope is that it's a piece of art, not a bullshit piece of marketing that does nothing but to self serve and ego boost the band. A lasting composition that can be enjoyed both visually and aurally. It won't be MTV, but like all things TESSERACT, it should be intense, emotive, and enthralling."
Behind-the-scenes photos from the video shoot will be available soon, so stay tuned for a preview of "Eden." Beginning this fall, Tesseract will also join Between The Buried and Me and Animals As Leaders for the "Saints And Sinners" tour. Dates for the tour are below. More...

"There are a few places on this tour that we've never been to and several that we haven't played in forever, and of course plenty more that we just can't get enough of. We'll have some new merch and a limited edition tour shirt that we're pretty fond of. Also remember to save yourself a few bucks and get your tickets in advance here.
"Lastly, all you New Yorkers please make note that the Brooklyn NY show on Saturday Sept 10th at Europa is an early show. Doors are at 6pm and we'll be on stage at 9pm. That's it for right now; see you all soon."

Cape Fear doom act Sourvein has announced the return of original bassist, Joshua ”JC Fari," who played with the band from 1993 – 2001 and again from 2003 – 2006.
Fari held down the low-end duties on both Sourvein's self-titled full-length and the "He’s No Good To Me Dead" compilation (featuring Sourvein alongside Grief, Bongzilla, Negative Reaction and Subsanity) among other compilations as well as the "Will To Mangle" demos. Fari also played guitar on the band’s split with Buzzov*en in 1995.
Fari relocated to Austin after Hurricane Katrina flooded his New Orleans apartment and studio in 2005 and left the band in 2006, following a tour of the U.K. with Remesses, to focus on his family. Since then, he’s been raising his son and working as a recording engineer. As of this summer, Fari is finally able to commit to touring and recording with Sourvein full time.
Fari will join vocalist T-Roy and co. for the band’s West Coast leg of the Black Fangs world tour in October. The Sourvein collective has extended its gratitude to Ahmasi O’Daniel (The Misanthrone Project) and Dave Sherman (Earthride) for filling in on bass the past few tours. "Black Fangs" was released via Candlelight Records on June 21st.
Scottish death metal act Cerebral Bore has signed a worldwide recording deal with Earache Records, released a debut album, had members mistakenly arrested during a killer manhunt, and completing a U.S. tour so far this year. Now, the band is gearing up for its first ever appearance at the Bloodstock Open Air. Cerebral Bore will be performing this Friday, 12th August at 2pm on the Sophie Lancaster Stage,
Guitarist Paul McGuire comments:
"We have played a whole bunch of open air festivals in Europe, but never in the UK, so this is sure to be pretty surreal for us! Especially with bands like Motorhead and Morbid Angel on the bill. Pretty much everyone I know in Scotland who listens to metal is going, so hopefully we will have a good crowd and tons of bodies battering each other! But most of all, it will be great to play to such a big home crowd; with a bit of luck it will be something we get to do more often in the UK."
Aug. 12 - Derbyshire, UK - Bloodstock Open Air Festival
Aug. 27 - Huddersfield, UK - The Parish
Aug. 28 - London, UK - The Purple Turtle
Sep. 17 - Kiev, Ukraine - Bingo Club

Goatwhore recently posted the first video update from the studio from the recording of the band's new album.
Drummer Zack Simmons added the following: "Tracking for the new record went very smoothly with the help of excellent equipment. I played a Pearl Reference kit with Sabian AA cymbals. The drums sound like canons of doom. Every time I hear the toms I want to break something because they sound so damn good. The AA's were a perfect match in their ability to cut through the thunder of the drums. This record is going to have a giant pair of balls hanging from it."
Details on the album and more studio updates will be made available as soon as they are completed.
Once Goatwhore wraps up recording, the band will immediately hit the road for headlining shows starting in Tampa, FL. From there, the group will join the Exhumed tour with support from Cephalic Carnage and Havok. All current dates can be seen now on the band's facebook page here.

Now I am mixing it, and I'm sure it will sound very nice. And also I am recording guitars, bass and vocals. I think we will be able to finish everything for the 1st album this August!"
Relapse Records has today officially announced the signing of blackened death metal act Weapon.
Weapon (Vetis Monarch: guitars and vocals, Kha Tumos: bass, Apostle VIII: guitar, The Disciple: drums) has previously released two full-length albums including "From The Devil's Tomb" (2010), and the band is currently writing the follow-up album.
Vetis Monarch commented on the recent signing and upcoming album: "Weapon is ready to take over the world, and our signing with a legendary label like Relapse Records is a key element in achieving that goal. We are in the process of writing the follow-up album to 'From The Devil's Tomb', and all our supporters can rest assured that the new material is a direct continuation of the sinister and violent music we have delivered thus far. Onwards and upwards by the blessing of Lucifer..."
